I had so much fun reacting to the Japanese and Chinese versions of Sparkle’s trailer! Both voice actresses did an incredible job! Honkai Star Rail is delivering on these Myriad Celestia trailers. I can’t wait for the next HSR update!

Something I haven't seen mentioned yet - Sparkle is an addict. There's deeper physchological implications with that then just being a puppet. Now, whether or not that addiction was brought on by some supernatural mask mojo, who knows, but the end result is the same. You can tell from the by her brief bouts of sadness in her voice that she's aware she's lost control, but she's still fully....Sparkled. And, of course her calling her mask "beloved" is straight out of gollums' playbook.

I really like the CN version. Reminds me a lot of Jingliu's CN voice with the barely contained madness.

The CN one is great! I LOVE that whisper at the end. It really captures the vibe of the trailer and is such a great vocal choice on the VA's part imo.

I like both english and japanese but I cant say anything for CN cause it seems like Im tone deaf for CN language, everything sounds the same to me :(

fr some EN dub in genshin is a miss imo but its harder to find fault in HSR EN dub, ig partly helps because its second EN dub hoyo game so they probably learnt it from experience with genshin@@onslaughtx8309

Reina Ueda (JP VA) just nails whatever role she is in I guess. She voices so many roles in anime and video games (more notably Ganyu in Genshin and Scarlet in Nikke. Always a pleasure to hear her and when she does voice act for anything you just know its gonna sound awesome!

She really did an amazing job! It's so cool to listen to all the vocal choices the voice actors and actresses make. She really captured Sparkle's playful quirkiness 👏

Indeed, she really do the perfect "annoying but lovely troll chara" with Hanabi. You can feel the essence of the character on her voice. 😊

So much voice talent. I like how all three languages took different approaches in their interpretation. English is a bit more up-front, arrogant and mischievous. Chinese is soft, breathy and playful. Japanese is almost manic and playful. Subtle changes, but fun to note. Even more fun when you can understand the context in both Japanese and English and share with us. S rated trailer? Trailer tier list!

YES! I love hearing the different interpretations! It was super fun rewatching this while focusing specifically on the voice acting. There's so much nuance and intricacy to each delivery. Really well done by all VAs also, yes haha maybe we will do a trailer tier list one of these days :D

One thing I want to add to the CN version: I don't know if this is because of the language the way it works or not but when she's talking about the sadness parts, it kinda sounds like she's swallowing the last syllables of the sentence, similar to how people do it when they're in the verge of crying, like you can't end your sentence properly. I don't know if that was intentional or not, but it really adds a lot to the scene imo.

It's always fun listening to other languages for stuff like this. I can't understand a word of what they're saying for the most part, so I need to rely on the actors tone and emotion behind each line for context outside of the subtitles. CN definitely had a more creepy vibe to it, but JP really hit that combination of playful and unhinged that I like about Sparkle's character.

Yeah! I really like the creepy, unhinged whisper at the end in the CN version. Very cool! Also agree about the JP version. I loved the playful quirkiness the VA captured. It definitely suits Sparkle

The biggest differentiator for me is how well the VA separates the Sparkle tied on the altar (I... I'm not Sparkle) to the eyes watching from above (No, I am Sparkle). CN and JP do a good job separating the two while EN less so.

When i watched the jp one for the first time, when act 3 came, it gave ne lingering goosebumps... Though i got to say, while i mostly prefer the jp one, i do like the wispering at the end of the cn ver.

Yeah, I think if I had to pick just one, the JP one is probably the one I'd pick as my favorite, but I agree about the ending of the CN one. That whisper is SO haunting and creepy, which is so fitting for this trailer!

i usually prefer the CN voices for characters (bc i started playing in CN so im heavily biased), but her JP voice has something i simply can’t not describe behind it, if it was possible to mix voice languages i would do it just to hear her JP voice
