Major progress at the Woodyard Building. Crew was here less than two days and made some major progress but got snowed out before they could finish. This will be for sawmilling, wood splitting, and equipment storage.

Good afternoon Mike. Just a thought, dairy farms use roll up tarps on the side of their buildings to keep cattle warmer in the winter. You use a drill to raise and lower. Maybe something to look into for a little more comfort when splitting wood in the winter. Nice building too

Good morning a day later! Got back to NCNC late last night after 3 weeks and 2 days on the farm in the western Ozarks. Deprecated the local cervid population a little bit and brought back about 40 lbs of very lean meat. Anyway, I couldn’t watch the videos while driving, so woke up looking forward to them. The first I watched was the short with the unloading of the snowblower. Funny thing - RU-vid queued up a prequel ad for that 0:56 short that was over 42 minutes long!!!! Holy cow. Needless to say I didn’t let it run through to the end. Nice progress toward your sawmill/splitter/storage shed. Impressive construction crew. Glad y’all avoided a pileup at the bottom of Devil’s Elbow.

The crane attachment on the skidsteer is a great tool, I had not seen one until Matt, from Diesel Creek got his new dream shop built, just amazing the things you can do nowdays. The pavilion will be a boon at the wood yard, able to work in adverse conditions and have your equipment undercover. Stay safe on the roads, there some odd drivers around that are oblivious to what is behind them.
@bobbyd6499

As a truck driver, the driving conditions you described here are a semi driver’s WORST nightmare. We call it BLACK ICE (snows melts, refreezes) and you can NOT see it, especially on black asphalt. 😮

That is one good job being done there, what timber was used there as I noticed that they put the uprights straight into the ground untreated. That is some lagre shop, it makes our 9m X 6.5m timber shop look small, but then land is at a premium in England. You could make good use of side of 3m side porches and say a 5m front porch taken out from just above your door opening all with concrete pads and you may think you will never use them, but I can assure you that you will and you will thank me for the suggestion. Give serious thought as to how you will get the ideal work flow thru that new shop and how you could make use of some of that stuff you currently throw away and burn when milling, those first cuts can either be a source of sellable fuel or turned into garden chippings. They must have a value to someone, it is just a matter of finding that market and that is where the local internet comes into play.

With a lean-to I doubt you would need to apply the metal siding on that wall. Some plywood maybe necessary for shear protection. You could make the enclosure around the lean-to or leave it open.

Hi Michael consider putting the roof panels hanging 4 ft from the top of the building wall open at the bottom 4 ft coming down from the soffit will keep a lot of snow blown drifts out side driven rains will cut down on that.

Mike have you ever thought or seen a hoop building they cost way less and many widths and lengths and you wouldn't even have to cement it out cuz it stays so dry inside and you can control the roll up doors on both ends of the building, this would be something for you to look into for the side of your new building instead of using steel and wood. I think you would love it to put wood in it,say stuff from the sawmill and the firewood baskets.
