Great when some do the work and grind of learning to be a musician,…….not content to serve up the soulless mechanical noise that they try to pass off as art!
100% She has a gorgeous voice and tone. I wish I could belt - I'm a softer singer. I was shocked when I found out how much 'faking' there is going on for 'live' videos. It made me feel much better about posting videos of me singing that aren't pitch corrected. My viewers don't seem to mind a bit of pitch-y meanderings in my live videos and I'm happy to embrace my authentic voice and to hell with the rest!
I think this young girl has a career ahead of her if she wants it! I say if she wants it because we have five children and have watched them all journey through different interests and phases in their life. One of our daughters was 8 years old, taking guitar lessons and was just singing along with it. The teacher actually came out to get me to tell me that she had perfect pitch! Later, at a dinner party we were holding, I was chatting with a musician and I told him about her. He got very serious and said, "she can play and sing at the same time?" So she started a little You Tube channel, AmyDawnSings and co-led worship at her school and was in a worship band at church. She did the same at college but once she decided to pursue becoming a Physician's Assistant, music kind of got packed away. So for me, her sweet voice is a memory! I have a feeling the young girl in this video will be headed toward a successful career, especially if she writes her own music!
What strikes me is how much more interesting and enjoyable the non-pitch corrected singing is. It really is sad that we're ruining the beauty of the human voice by trying to make it too pitch perfect.
Absolutely. Birds have no idea of notes, whales don't, any animal doesn't, and yet they're beautiful... this trend to move everything right on pitch is... it's like... rankings from karaoke apps to decide what's good got taken way too seriously. It's ok for us to sing outside of the lines, we are dynamic beings, we can do things that machines can't, and we, all of us, need to remember to value that.
Fil, how refreshing to watch this darling child singing and playing! Keeping it real is magical! She is a rising star who hopefully will not let producers and the industry destroy her natural voice! Well done, Fil! Thank you for this!💜
@@kevinm6790; I don't just say it, I just repeat everything I read. I know Fil looks young, but he's in his Sixties according to everybody I ever heard,
I'm so proud of this young lady. A natural, organic singer. If she keeps this up, she will be in high demand. Keep honing your craft and be the best version of yourself. So proud of you.
@@snowmancometh3847 Exactly. It really clobbers the emotion which is why people are feeling less connected to the music, like something is missing. It is! That “something” has been buried in the search for perfection. Which is subjective!
You cannot buy great tone in a human voice. Evan has it. The gift that she will be able to develop with time and work. Listen to Aretha Franklin when she was 5 years old and singing in her father's church, leading the choir. This cream will rise to the top. Deservedly. For the gift and the hard work of a young musician. Bravo Evan. Thanks Fil for the insight. Good for music.
A good comment that deserves more appreciation ;} I can't quite escape the pedant within me suggesting that when praising a girl or woman Brava is preferred over Bravo. I still love your comment and gave a well deserved thumbs up.
@kurtzwar729 I think you hit the nail on the head. The tone of a voice is what makes a difference. I have heard several young singers who have wonderful tonal qualities in their voices, and with nothing but a little reverb on their mic, or by finding somewhere with great acoustics, they sound amazing. It is so tragic that after being 'discovered', whoever it is that is in charge of the more 'polished' production of subsequent recordings, has elected to completely neuter all of the rich and sonically pleasing tonal qualities their voices have, and made their singing stand out and be so captivating to begin with. I don't have any idea what it is exactly that these unrelated producers are doing that saps the unique personality out of these singers' voices, but it's a god damned travesty. Maybe in the instances I'm referring to, the producer is allergic to recording them in less controlled environments, such as more open spaces where all those nuances are actually audibly ringing out?
@@Kurtiscott Agreed. Careful the lurker trolls here will hassle you now lol...this channel not that fun anymore due to that but yeah props to Fil for caring about all of it.
It still baffles me that a lot of people listening to pitch-corrected vocals don't seem to mind or even realise something incredibly important has been removed in that process
@@timothystravels8492 Please elaborate on your 440Hz statement... As far as I know, it wasn't changed from another, previously agreed upon, standard. It wasn't set to any figure, but orchestras and musicians in general had a tendency to keep raising the pitch they would tune their instruments to in an effort to sound more lively. This was unsustainable so it was set at an arbitrary round number
Please don’t elaborate. It will be just a bunch of conspiracy theories. Violins, guitars and pianos can be tuned to other pitches but some other instruments can’t. We need a standard so instruments could be produced and sound good playing together. Imagine playing with violins tuned to 432 Hz, a piano tuned to 451, trumpets tuned to 448 Hz and a marimba tuned to 440 Hz. It would sound awful. We need standardization in a lot of stuff, electronics, cars, anything you build or produce, so you don’t have problems of connection, working stuff together or having a pattern of quality. The same applies to instruments.
@mikeydflyingtoaster No, all different htz have been used before the global introduction of 440htz . I have been recording and playing music for 45 years and since changing to 432htz have noticed a huge change. Some frequencies are just more accepting for the human being...it's not a conspiracy, frequencies are what they are and there are plenty of experiments showing the difference between the two. If you looked this subject up a dew years ago you would get information which now isn't avaliable. All you'll get now is debunking.
This is a breath of fresh air....all natural...Just fabulous and good for her not using Pitch Correction!!! Would love to hear how her voice changes when she get older.
Hey Fil. Yes, I was the listener who sent you the question of Evan's earlier video when she was only about 7. As I said then, I was suspicious that her voice had been autotuned and/or otherwise manipulated (the final notes didn't seem to match her mouth movements). But I'm so glad you went for a deeper dive into her more recent recordings. I agree that (despite "producers" manipulating her voice) there is some real talent growing within her, including her dynamic sense of music both vocally and instrumentally. She deserves encouragement! Thank you again for giving her a closer look! 😎
I enjoyed this and so did you Fil. That smile says it all. I will check out her channel. Good on her for keeping it real. Thank you for bringing her to our attention. Great analysis.
You are genuinely happy to analyze this one & it shows. Your smile from when her recent video started until its end tells us all. Real Talent will out! Thanks for introducing me to Evan Riley. I will go over & check it out and give it a LIKE.
Evan is a beautiful young lady who has a beautiful voice and can sing and play her guitar very well. It's good to hear a song that has not been pitch corrected. The natural voice always sounds better with feelings, emotions, flaws, and all. That's what makes a great song! This was an awesome analysis of Evans' performance! Congrats on getting 406k subscribers! Keep on rockin'!
Next superstar right there. Definitely so cool too see her not doing what all the other kids are doing . Literly heard a Clair Crossby song that was totally manufactured. Not sure why she had great tone. Kudos too Evan for being real.
So, now folks let us go and even make the comments that her sound is great because it's natural - has emotions. etc. To encourage, support that she is talented. Love this so much ~
Wow!! I love her voice and all of the little imperfections in it. She sings with such soul and conviction already. I'll take that over a perfect pitch any day!!!
Thank you so much for your amazing work. I really appreciate your videos. I'm highly sensitive and for years I've been wondering why so many tracks no longer gave me any emotions. I realized this when listening to a cappella music. The first time I heard it, I was often impressed (probably by the harmonies that surprised me), but after the second listen, nothing at all. I knew most of the voices were processed, but I didn't really realize it. After watching several of your videos, I've developed a 'pitch correction radar' and I finally understand why certain pieces of music engage me emotionally or not. You've opened my eyes. I hope it becomes a trend again to sing naturally or for processed voices to be labeled as such, like AI-generated images.
It is so refreshing to see and hear a young talent singing without using pitch correction and watching them play the guitar while they are playing. Not all prerecorded and lip synched. Fantastic!!
I listened to a bit. 1) Glad it's for real! 2) She definitely has some talent and hopefully will grow into it even more. 3) But I am not a fan of children singing adult songs like this.
I mean its absolutely fine they do that, singing whatever they want to sing, but making it public is the part thats slightly off. I´m not sure if this video should exist or not. Not going to blame anyone for anything. Being uncomfortable is part of our existence, there are worse things that go on than a girl singing and playing guitar to be frank.
@@TBeatles67It's about adult emotions, which she won't have experienced yet. I, too, find it a bit off-putting. I'm sure there are songs that are age appropriate but not for toddlers!
Thank you Fil for pointing out that someone, even a young one, has eschewed pitch correction. I hope more and more do. On my way over to encourage her.
I just love your beautiful music knowledge.. and while everyone over a certain age is just beaming with pride like she was our own daughter or granddaughter or something… you seem to be just as proud of her too. I love that.
Great to see her real talent in this latest video! One thing I don’t see enough of though is praise toward what an amazing singer FIl is. Such perfect control every time he demonstrates vocal parts in songs! What an inspiration!! And such a great person as well!!
i think on the first recording it was not her misleading anyone. i feel it was imposed on her by the production and she had no say in the matter. the second recording was really refreshing, so much self confidence and ability. Once she matures into her own style i think she will be one to be watched... Let us hope she is able to keep her integrity
Correct. Not much say in the matter. If you see me in a living room , it’s mom recording exactly what you hear on her cell phone and uploading the video. 0 pitch correction in those. Yes unfortunately studios unnecessarily use pitch correction but in that video I was 7 so of course they put some on it. ❤ perfect analysis on this channel.
@@EvanRileysings awew thank you so much. So good to actually have a message from the artist. I am a musician of many years experience and i really appreciate natural talent and honesty in music. I wish you every success, beautiful spirit ❤️
@@EvanRileysings Like John said, I wish you every success, and don't give up on your dreams. You have an amazing talent 🙏🏻 keep learning and growing 👍🏻 Keep it real most importantly 🙏🏻 God Bless
Fantastic. She's obviously working very hard, and getting the right kind of encouragement. And she'll keep her voice in better shape with this kind of training than many other singers. Don't go on a singing competition show, and don't sign with a label too soon. Enjoy the process, kid. This is the good stuff. And thanks, Fil.
This does look authentic Her intonation and phrasing looks good on the software With that said the voice is just not pleasing to me, I guess this is just personal taste
Love seeing an example of a legitimate, non-pitch corrected performance. It's a nice counterbalance to the usual sketchy stuff. Keep 'em coming, if you can find more!
First of all, you are very likeable, you have a pleasant voice and a nice smile, the song and Evan's singing are unique, firstly I had goosebumps, secondly I had tears in my eyes, the little girl has such a voice that you can't describe, it goes beyond any emotional horizon. I would be delighted if you build something with the little girl, she has the potential that shouldn't be swept under the carpet. Oh, and by the way, greetings from Germany, Google Translate was a help to me, because I can't speak English.
Fingers crossed that she continues along this (rarely trodden) organic singing path 🤞. I reckon her reputation for being an artist who DOESN'T use auto correct will propel her to worldwide stardom. Thank you, Fil, for this awesome video 👏👏👏👏👏
I love your videos because you are inadvertently teaching us how to perform imperceptible pitch correction! I've always added minuscule imperfections for natural sounding voice and instrumentation but your videos have raised me to another level.
If she stays honest and keeps trying and practicing to be good, rather than resort to cheating, she'll be good and proud of her ability. It's just that simple. Integrity is something.
@@somedude6161 so many of us are Angelina Jordan and Daneliya Tuleshova fans . Evan is si much like them doing her own Natural thing . Daneliya and Angelina both quickly started studio covers . But they also did alit of live concerts. It was hard to tell which was which with them because they was so talented.
...Evan Riley not only Tackled that Adele Song, she made it Spit Out some Astro Turf!!! ...a Beautiful Voice (&/or Beautiful Guitar) makes me want to close my eyes... ...an Over-Tuned Voice (&/or Out of Tune Guitar) makes me want to close my ears... ...i think to call that a "Great Performance" would almost imply the Pre-recorded Trickery that Fil discussed...? ...so i will just say this is "Genuinely Excellent!!!" 🤘😌🤘
Good evening Fil, I love all your coverage of the ubiquity of Auto-Tune these days - As a fretless bass player for 35 years, I seem to have an almost instinctive 'radar' for Auto-Tune/pitch correcting software. It is extremely annoying and I don't really listen to much newer music anymore. I know that you have previously done a couple of shows on The Warning - they are (imo) likely the best rock band in a couple of decades. As far as I can tell, they do not use Auto-Tune or pitch correct. I'm not any sort of expert so, I'd like to ask you if you have heard any songs by The Warning that uses either in their music?? Thanks so much for your work on this channel!! 💖 I think that it's really important to educate folks about the near universal use of pitch correcting tools - which I personally hope will signal to both musicians AND audiences/listeners that the musicians and producers are over-doing it and maybe lay off the digital corrections which, again imo, take away much more than it gives to performances of any kind. ❤❤🎸🎼🎶🎵 🎸
So refreshing! The kids are alright. It’s time consuming to wade through the mounds of processed cheese out there. Thx to Fil for showcasing artists like this. I want more!😆
Oh fun, I didn't think I've ever seen her videos from her personal channel; I've only seen some of her practice sessions with her vocal coach, Cheryl Porter. It's great to see all their hard work showcased and encouraged like this.
Sou do Brasil e acompanho com muito carinho e respeito essa artista com sua voz encantadora. Gratidão por esse talento nos envolvendo em grande e perfeita escala.🇧🇷❤️ I'm from Brazil and I follow this artist with great affection and respect, with her enchanting voice. I'm grateful for this talent that involves us on a large and perfect scale.
Thanks, Fil. It's great to hear a real performance that's not been overly modified that's actually musical. Good on her, and good on you for bringing it to us.
Thanks for featuring artists that take this route and strive to be better without all the adulteration of music that's become "standard". Hopefully this awareness with inspire more genuine organic performances.
Young voices no matter how good they are grate on my ears. I hate saying that, particularly about this young lady's singing. Looking forward to hearing her sing once she's past puberty, however. She definitely got the chops!
@@TBeatles67 We have a right to our views. The people on this channel the last 6 months are pretty argumentative & unpleasant, why I hardly make comments anymore. Ps she sounded little like Adele, maybe in a few spots.
@@zenawarrior7442 I’ve been here way longer than six months. Where in my reply was I argumentative and unpleasant? I have a voice degree and I stated facts. Of course you have a right to your opinion, but why is it necessary to leave a negative comment when you could have just moved on? Evan will likely read these comments and you had nothing constructive to say.
Thankyou bro , so many of us that stay up to date with the up and coming talent . Have identified her as heading for stardom. Rich Fayden has a clise eye on her and Brandon Orr at Goat Music. I will show this too Evans mom and she will probally post it to Evans channel . We approved the post for fan club.
