WOW! Transformers MISSING LINK C-02 OPTIMUS PRIME Animated Edition TAKARA TOMY G1 CONVOY Review 

No surprise here, for those who don’t know, the original G1 prime has ALL these features like chrome parts, die-cast metal parts, real rubber tires, and of course the thermals-sense color-changing autobots badge! The real new gimmick is the flexible joints!

This is literally G1 cultural victory. Ah yes lterally G1 figure. Not a G1ized not G1ish, strait up G1 figure it self returns 40 years after.... what a GOATED way to celebrate 40th anniversary 🤝🏻🔥

Incredible that they turned the original G1 Optimus Prime toy that was essentially a *BRICK* to a borderline Masterpiece articulation figure.

I had the original Prime decades ago. I would have been ALL over this if they did all the commemorative/resiues like this back in 2002-2006 (pre-classics), but I'm fine with Kingdom Prime and look forward later this year to Studio Series 86 Prime💯

In September of 1984 Transformers just exploded in popularity. The cartoon had just debuted and was all the talk amongst the boys in my grade 4 class. I still remember coming back after Christmas break in January of 1985 and most everybody brought their new Transformers to school. The holy grails of course, were the bigger toys, like Optimus Prime, Megatron, Starscream, and Soundwave. Of course, I only got a Windcharger that year. Lol. Just imagine bringing this updated missing link version to school back in 1984, we would have gone crazy with excitement.

Ya know, when Optimus can jump in truck mode into robot, I wonder where the spin the waist modern takes have came from. It would help disguise the legs better, especially if they transform the feet.

You're young and new to the game I'm OG and you have no idea what a gift this is !!! I am on board with ALL MISSING LINK hoping the line continues. Also, love your videos and the enthusiasm. Wish I could take you back in time with me so you could have seen what it was line when the transformers first hit!

I ordered and got the C-01 'L Optimus with trailer. Much more worth it because it look like the original G1 that came to life. I adore those sticker details on the bot that are 3D and painted. Plus the new feature of the trailer is cool.

This is one of those gamechangers that you wonder why the concept hasnt been done before!

It's totally awesome! I definitely grew up and had a lot of G1s which I definitely regrettably sold all. This would be a great way to bring them back but with some much welcomed upgrades as you demonstrated. I really hope they continue this series of Missing Link G1 TFs!

A decade ago I got the 2012 Hasbro China version of Commemorative Optimus, and I want to go full circle with this version.

Good video and very excellent analysis sir. This Optimus prime is the holy grail of all transformers. I brought 1not 2 but 3😮 l had to. The missing link c1 Optimus prime is one best of any toy made. I had to pull the trigger on 3. My wallet will is hurting 😢now. Takara need to do Megatron, prowl, Jazz and Bluestreak.

If they did one with G1 Megatron, that would be sooo cool, even though his G1 alt mode isn't legal.

This has me so excited to get mine. I got the re-release of the original G1 back in 2009 for the 25th anniversary. I didn’t truly appreciate it at the time cause I was more enthralled by the movies at the time. But damn, I learnt to to appreciate it. I’m super bummed I no longer have that figure as a part of my collection. So this figure will be a nice replacement for it.

I want that figure too. Did you read skybounds transformers comic’s yet because they are awesome, and you’ll find some bay verses call backs thrown in there that you will love.

For me all transformers need to be packaged in their alt mode What happened to "robots in disguise" or "more than meets the eyes"

This toy is a total win for the Transformers franchise.

This is the Optimus prime of my dreams!

This isn’t the first cartoon colours on the G1 Optimus. There was a New Year Convoy that was the first with show colours and had a diecast Matrix designed for it. It also came with a show colours Action Master Optimus.

This review is making me want this more and more. The figure represents the old G1 figure while also having modern articulation (to an extent). I wouldn’t be surprised if we got Nemesis and Ultra Magnus repaints tbh. And why ain’t this in legacy either? We could have a G1 universe prime

I think that I am super excited to get my hands on my figure. I grew up with the G2 Optimus, so this mold is super nostalgic for me.

This is a customization I did to several of my brick TFs a long time ago and I believe I also saw similar customs online. I'm more surprised that they took them this long to come up with the idea than with the product itself.

if this was shown back in the ‘80s id imagine hasbro (or whoever paid for the production of the G1 toys back in the day) would pay whoever brought the toy to them a SIGNIFICANT amount of money in order to study it and then apply it to the G1 toys in the future

I was 5 years old when Transformers came out. Optimus Prime and Soundwave were my first two. I have to pick this up at some point and hopefully they’ll do Soundwave and more.

I've been collecting Core Class, but I grew up with G1 and, man, THAT Optimus is tempting!

Looks good enough with in hand video to make me regret not having space for him on my shelf or in my budget, though seriously the last thing I need is yet another Optimus Prime no matter how nostalgic. I'm not a fan of die-cast, precisely because I remember how much those original toys chipped and rubbed paint off at any edge or corner, but the modern articulation is awesome and if you'd showed it to my younger self it absolutely would have blown my tiny little mind. I wonder if you can slot him into the original Ultra Magnus trailer armor? That helmet would be the ultimate test of G1 head sculpt accuracy;' also the one part that needs significant modification to fit onto the old Classics OP mold to use the trailer with that Target exclusive white-OP UM that came in a two-pack with Classics Skywarp.

PvP, from what I recall when Missing Link was announced it was that these versions would be "mistaken for the original toys *at first glance*". So yeah they should at first look heavily resemble the original toy until once gets a closer look. I'd like to think that with any kind of Hound ML release that it would include telescoping forearms to lengthen them so they aren't so stubby.

This wouldve been cool when i collected these as a kid 40 years ago. 40 years too late for me. I Cant go back after all the modern versions that have been produced.

Our imagination as children in the 80s and early 90s really helped us to not be hindered by lack of articulation. Newer figures are great, but I expect to have to have a completely different feeling when I get this in hand and can pose him the way I imagined decades ago
