Oh Rachel! You have such a beautiful backyard!! It looks like a beautiful resort hotel where you can just relax!! It’s an oasis! Your Ron is wonderful!! To build you this!! I’m so happy for you! May God bless your new home and your family!! ❤ from Oklahoma 😊
Your Ron really loves you. This will be so wonderful using every inch of your back yard. Always love and outdoor kitchen. Firepit will be wonderful. Thanks for the video Rachel. Have a great week.
Yes!! I got a small fountain a few years ago. Such a calming, almost spiritual sound. Rachel! I can't wait to see the finished design! Do a fire pit AND a fountain! You will be glad you did. ❤
I have given that idea alot of thought, we have lots of birds in our area and our trees have lots of birds so I'm thinking the fountain would be alot of birds. I love the idea though.❤
Hi~ Why not have both? I recently saw a fountain bowl with fire pit within! It looked gorgeous & so unique. The water trickled from the bowl into gravel below, then recirculated back into water bowl. The flames looked spectacular at night reflecting off the water. The company is Aquascape outside Chicago with dealers all over the USA. 🙋
If that’s a easement, why are you building on it? Those old crepes would look wonderful with up lights! I would vote for water feature also, but ultimately it’s up to you. Sounds like you know what you want!
Rachel, your yard is going to be beautiful. Thanks for sharing this with us. So fun to see. By the way, your recipes and cooking have been a blessing for me and my family.
Rachel you are one lucky lady! It is going to be so BEAUTIFUL! You deserve it! You work so hard bringing us all joy with your wonderful cooking show! Can't wait to see what you cook up for us in your outdoor kitchen! TFS
Do so agree with you. As an older person with mobility issues - the lawn in my new back garden is a constant nightmare. Not large enough for a contractor to mow but too large for me. Saving up to do something like Rachel - minus the outdoor kitchen - this is England so too wet and chilly!
going to be beautiful. U r going to enjoy cooking around all your beautiful plants and trees. And the Jasmine and plumeria flowers will smell wonderful. Happy, happy. Wish u the best. ❤
Can't wait to see the finished product. As someone else previously mentioned, a fountain would be the chefs kiss. Looking forward to the reveal Ms. Rachel
Ohhh....miss Rachel...we are VERY excited for you and your Ron!! I can't wait to see the finished area and I REALLY can't wait until you share your cooking with us in your new outside absolutely beautiful kitchen!! Thank you for taking us along on this awesome journey!! This has been and is going to be so fun to watch as things get finished!! I am very happy for you both!! :)
Absolutely beautiful! YES TO THE FIRE PIT!! They are wonderful to have. Something very special about fires, coffee (or your choice of beverage) n friends, or just the two of you! Blessings and congratulations!!! Love you!
Rachel your home and yard are stunning. The back will be the yard that dreams are made of. How fun to see it coming together step by step. Thank you so much for the invite to enjoy your home w/you. Blessings Always
Hello! I was thinking if you will have a water feature somewhere back there. I think it would be awesome to hear some water among the tropical plants you’re planning on putting in. I’m definitely for the fire pit. I love that you’re sharing this with us! Can’t wait to see it all. ❤
They also make those gorgeous hanging stone, fountains that would be lovely on your brick wall with your tropical plants! It all going to be so gorgeous, relaxing & productive! Love your plans! Can’t wait to see it finished! Much love & God’s blessings! 👍🥰❤️🙏🤗
Good luck getting that Crepe Myrtle out. I have one chained and removed with the tractor and the small roots that were left keep sending up new trees. They are the gift that keeps on giving.
Rachel, Since you asked, a small water fountain nestled among the tropical plants would be great! …We have a portable fire ring with spark cover and love it. You will need an area for storing small firewood also. Where is your dining table going? I am excited to see you excited! I can tell you love the design process. Now I am looking forward to your future outdoor cooking shows! 🎉
I’m so happy for you, Rachel! 🤗You will have a beautiful yard and I can’t wait to see the finished project! You have a perfect eye for detail. I also can’t wait to see your cooking videos in your new outdoor kitchen. You are such a hard worker and you deserve this! I already am excited with you and for you, my dear❣️🤗🥰
Rachel! You have designed a paradise. I'm so excited with you! If you're able to put the fire feature in, do it! We have one and its so great to sit around with friends during the evening. Something about the fire creates wonderful conversations.
Rachel…thank you for showing us your new project! I cant wait to see it once it’s finished! I’m sooo happy to see your beautiful home.❤️🙏 My almost 99 yr old Mom and I watch your cooking videos that bring her some great memories of when she, too, cooked for our big family! Much love and blessings to you, YOU RON and your family! God bless! 🙏❤️
A garden pond is so relaxing to sit by, especially if you have a small trickling feature. Water lily's floating and some pond grass and Hostas❤. Thanks for sharing.
Rachel - you are a truly gifted cook and decorator. I love the idea of making one's home - inside and out - a sanctuary. I am so looking forward to seeing it upon completion. Thanks for sharing!!🙂👍🙏
Wow it’s going to be beautiful Rachel thank you for showing us .The fire pit and a fountain would be a nice touch when you’re surrounded by all those bet plants.
Rachel it feels funny your not in your kitchen making chili relanos or enchiladas 😋 Your yard is going to look gorgeous. You look so happy ❤❤❤❤❤❤ Can't wait to see it when it's all finished. ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Your pavers are beautiful! Love the colors. You are going to Love your patio. Your outdoor kitchen will be a hit. I can see you teaching us some new tricks. Can't wait! So happy for you and Ron.
Hi Rachel. You may want to do a deep dive into the pros and cons of planting fig ivy. The tendrils can grab onto any surface and cause the grout between bricks to loosen and it is invasive. It has NO boundaries. 🌿🌱😩. My neighbor cursed the day she planted fig ivy because it does not last long and paid a fortune to have it removed. They had to scrape the walls and it is labor intensive.
What a dreamy space! 😍 Please reconsider putting ivy in. Once you put that in, you can’t get rid of it.I don’t know one person who didn’t have regrets putting ivy in their garden. It spreads to your neighbors’ property too. I love your new space already!
I believe that ivy can also wreak havoc on wooden fences and shorten the life of the fence. You may want to research it. It’s all going to be beautiful! I hope you film videos out there for us!
I know right, here I thought you were going to say, we're planning to plant chayote and grapes red, white, and purple as well as green! or even honeysuckle as a way to cover the background and produce shade. Best of luck🎉HAPPY for you and your husband.
More Ivy info… We have a block wall on both sides of our house covered in Ivy. It’s beautiful! It has to be trimmed and maintained. You might need to hire someone to trim it periodically. It gets messy when trimmed and the leaves will be all over your crushed rock areas. We use a leaf blower weekly to keep it clean looking. Best of luck to you. Sounds beautiful!
Oh my this is going to be amazing Rachel. I can’t wait till it’s finished. What a treat to get to cook in an outdoor kitchen. I’m probably as excited as you are for these changes to your home.
How gorgeous! Always go for the fire pit! Some of the best memories, talks, and good times happen around a fire :) I'm so excited to see it finished! I love how practical it all is, utilizing all the space you have. I'm excited for you!!
How neat, I bet it will look gorgeous! I've always wanted an outdoor kitchen along with a fireplace. I think you need the fire pit. I'm anxious to see it finished. Lucky you!!!
I can't wait to see you cook all of your delicious meals under the new pergola. The renovated backyard is so exciting, you work so hard for it, and you deserve it. Best wishes, Ms. Rachel!
It sounds so beautiful!! Very relaxing! ...I like the fire pit idea...my sister has one and it adds a bit of charm ...and fun I think. Can't wait for more updates!! ❤❤❤
It's good to be absolutely beautiful 😍 Rachael! I personally would have had a hard time removing the tree, they are so beautiful with gorgeous flowers 💐
This is going to be so beautiful! Thank you for sharing the progress with us. The fig ivy is a whole different thing from English ivy. Its not quite as invasive and often has an upright growth habit. The myrtle--yes those roots grow deep but also wide and are so hard to dig for removal. Don't be surprised if you see little volunteer plants in the future. Those things don't like to give up. Ask me how I know!
Rachel, there may be a producer who just might make you an offer to have your own show! Everything is beautiful and you are so professional. I love this! ❤
Everything is looking beautifully. Luscious. I love how you know the names of your plants and how to take care of them. I didn't know hydrangeas would grow in our neck of the woods. Looking forward to your videos. Rosie from Weslaco Texas in the Rio Grande Valley blessings
