Zhou Shen can sing many different genres and many languages. "The Song of Heaven Island" is creepy and Halloween-like song. At first I didn't like it but after learning the lyrics, I came to understand that it warns bad people that their malicious deeds covered up will be exposed finally and they will be punished, therefore, they should not do bad things or else they will have fear all of their lives. Then, I came to love this song and his special singing effect.

Welcome to Zhou Shen's family. FYI, all Zhou Shen's performances have not been autotuned whatsoever and he always sings with a full open mic which not so many artists will do nowadays because of their abilities. By the way, you only listen to 1% of Zhou Shen's talents based on this video. He can sing at least 12 different languages which included Mandarin, Cantonese, English, Russian, Ukraine, Polish, Japanese, Hindi, French, Italian, Thai, Spanish, etc........ He can even sing 6 different voices in one song. His music has so many different genres. To tell you a bit about Zhou Shen's background. He is from China. He got bullied when he was young just because his voice didn't change when puberty came but that was not his choice and people called him names like a sissy or he sounded like a woman etc..... because of that he didn't sing in front of people for a long time and he even tried to tone down his voice when he speaks. It takes a long time for him to accept his own voice again and gets where he is now all around the world. He studied Dentistry in Ukraine when he was young but because of the language barriers, he changed to study Classical music there instead. His goal is to combine Classical and Pop music to introduce them to those who didn't know what Classical music is. His vocal range is very wide and his breath control is extremely good. He is a polite, funny, and humble guy. f you are willing to dig into his performances, you will be amazed by his talents. A lot of music can heal people's bodies but not many can heal people,'s, souls. Zhou Shen's music is one of them that can heal your soul. Zhou shen is the only singer I love. Yes, not just like, but love. He has an angelic energy in him. He is also very sunny, humorous and very hardworking. I love your interoperation of lyric and Chinese philosophy. This is the main reason that it doesn't work when the West led by the US always impose their ideology and system directly onto China without mutual respect and understanding of Chinese culture and tradition. No one system fits all, so learning and taking and giving from and to each other would be a better approach for all parties.

Being a Chinese, I heard this famous song for so many times , but I did not even think of that the lyrics can be interpreted so beautifully. Thanks for your great reaction, Fil. Both of them have beautiful voices and this was actually their second duet. Their first one is called "Flower walking freely" (or "Free walking flower"), which is also amazing. I'm not too familiar with Sa Dingding's other works but I've watched many Zhou Shen (also called Charlie Zhou because Charlie is his Western name or ShenShen as his fans call him) performances. He does not always sing that high but he hardly uses his tenor voice and most of the times he prefers the upper register. I recommend his songs "Ring the doorbell, listen to it myself", "Memory" (from the musical Cats), "The Song of Heaven Island", "Dalabengba", "Unravel", "Baby Goodbye" and of course his signature song "Big Fish". I can send you links with English subs in the fablesphere forum for some of the suggestions. I hope to see more reaction to ShenShen on your channel. 🙂

This singer literally changed my life. Changed the course of what I’m doing as well. I love seeing others have a similar reaction. Zhou Shen (pronounced “Jo”) is this amazing, humble, beautiful human being that helped me realize that hiding from your calling is a wasted life. I was about to drop out of grad school when I came across him. Instead, I persevered. Exactly what you talked about in the poetry of the lyrics was what ShenShen teaches with simple grace and beauty. He suffered some brutal experiences and yet, so gentle, humble, and with a remarkable sense of humor. Life is suffering. But singers like ShenShen remind us that with our pain and suffering is the beauty and strength or persevering and overcoming. I graduated in May. I plan on proving primary healthcare services to unserved and underserved populations around the world. That is the power of art and music. That is the beauty that is paired with our pain and suffering and made bearable.
I'd also recommend the fancam version! It is said that the recorded version has gone through some changes since the stage was held in an open space with traffic and crowd noises. The stage sounds extra brilliant irl, I saw some comments talk about how you can literally hear them several streets away. Also, Zhou Shen's unedited voice sounds fuller. Some of my favorite songs are "Huan Yan", "Ring the doorbell", "Time to say goodbye". His "Dalabengba" performance is pure fun and shows a different Zhou Shen. "The Song of Heaven Islands" is spooky and also very good.
