Thank you for spotting and torping that Bayern at the end! I can't tell you how frustrated I was with what was happening on my side of the map while playing this game.
I run Belfast AL commander with Mikawa and Yamamoto as inspirations. I use the punch through skill as well and I wreck enemy cruisers with my AP. I also get some pretty good damage on opposing Battleships by shooting into the superstructure.
@@tacticangel the camo actually is historical. But its not exeters camo. It was HMS Yorks camo. Cause exeter was never really given one. She was always light grey. So they took yorks camo and adapted it for the different superstructure on the exeter.
The Jelico build has me intrigued, I’m gonna have to invest some points in him to make that configuration work, but I like it. As far as the boat, I bought her day one, and I have mixed feelings, but all in all, it’s well rounded.. but well rounded isn’t exactly what I was hoping for. Lol, I really like the acceleration, it’s almost like having prop mod and the sonar is really nice to help reveal those pesky DDs. Anyway, fantastic vid, great gameplay, my max dmg is like 68k so I can appreciate your efforts in that match. Thanks! ✌️
@@tacticangel Funny enough, I actually got into a fight against a Graf Spee while using the Exeter. I ended up sinking the Graf Spee while earning two incapacitation ribbons, three citadel ribbons, two torpedo hits, one flood ribbon, and of course a ship sunk ribbon.
tacticangel great video, I'm from Plymouth and in my teens my high school math teacher served on Exeter throughout the war. Story goes coming under attack by Japanese, their Dutch escorts fled and left them to fight off a sea and air attack. He was captured and obviously survived the horror of internment by the Japanese. Rest his soul.
I thought this was going to come in at tier 4 since it is a tier 5 on PC but with WGs random tier structure placing this at tier 5 I wondered if it was going to feel overtiered. I own Exeter on PC and I have very enjoyable games with it so I probably won't buy it on Legends but since it is such a nice looking vessel I do hope that I get it in crate on Christmas eventually. You have a very entertaining playstyle in your videos. I do like watching you push and torp BBs when the opportunity presents itself. Constantly switching ammo type, using consumables wisely. Good stuff. And the little historical details like the smokestack angle and the officer directing fire standing on the top of the turret. Outstanding video. Thanks for making this chief
I thought it was the first (or maybe second time). When I'm not making a review, I guess situational awareness drops quite a bit. Still, yeah, hope we can end up on the same team sometime.
Terrific video on Exeter, Tactic! Like you, my favorite t5 premium cruiser is the Graf Spee! Exeter looks fun as well, as I got her in a crate this morning.
Thanks, Joshua. I guess you could say that I don't do all that much to promote it, but I'm glad you enjoyed the video and hope to see you around in the comment section in the future.
Really fun ship to play but you can be punished badly! it’s a ship that forces you to play as most cruisers should play as you get higher up the tiers. One of my favourites for sure! Good review as always. Have a good weekend!
I'd check out the Bureau once the update comes out. I expect the California will play a lot like an Arizona, which is also super fun. It could be an easy way into it without spending a lot of money.
Why go double conceal and then charge right into the red team? You played outside your build. I have 16-2 Frasier with 15-2 Yamamoto/Kusnetzov. All AP focused traits. That's where the Exeter shines. Mid range, flanking with AP. I rarely fire HE unless it's a dd. You can't effectively play this ship like the Hipper.
Well, while I'm playing the game, I'm not going to let my team lose just because I have the wrong ship and/or build (honestly, I was pretty frustrated with my team in this game). We only won by 60 points. If I don't try to cap that base or fend off the KGV, we probably lose. From the point of view making videos, when I'm looking at the collection of games I have which are decent results (but not unrealistically good), this one was the most entertaining to watch, and showed both the strengths and weaknesses of the Exeter pretty decently: part of that is me putting myself in a vulnerable position, part what you can do in a pinch (that the Aoba can't do), but also a bit of what the ship is good at.
tacticangel that's fair. I highly suggest an AP focused build for Exeter. You can really take advantage of most tier IV-VI cruisers. Great video, I like the history.
I like the Nelson, but she's very different. I have a review of her, and I think it still holds up, though there are more 16 inch battleships out there thanks to the Russian BB's.
I've had the Exeter for a while now, if you like the Leander but want harder guns chose this. However, (and I have done this) the Leander with faster firing weapons and good angling can and will destroy the Exeter. If you play medium range with Bruce Fraser rank 7 and up you can citadel any cruiser with the japanese cruiser comander with increased angle for AP, dont toe to toe cruisers as this will send you back to port. It plays more like Pensacola but with 3 torps either side
True, though I find when I see a fellow RN cruiser, going bow-in is very effective, where he can't avoid the Exeter damage. As far as AP, maybe I was just unlucky.
@@derklabautermann5084 if you are close range I've done it personally, in a Leander I took out an Exeter. However if I was a bit further away and didn't angle enough I'd be ripped
@@tacticangel yeah the Exeter bow in is the best play against any RN cruiser just because there is no or very little AP power for the bow also the superstructure is small and narrow on all RN cruisers making them a twat to hit. I love the RN cruiser line just because (if played correctly) can be that itch in your arm that you just cant scratch XD best analogy I got for them really XD
