I remember following Sarah during the Lake C swim. Going to bed a number of nights and knowing she was still going was astonishing. I’ve shared her story to many of my Masters Swim Friends. I’ve completed one mile open water lake race and Alcatraz once. That was enough for me. Her accomplishments are truly in another world of belief. Fantastic interview. So grateful for her healing. Bravo Sarah.
I agree. It was a very enjoyable interview. She’s a wonder. I love the open water, too, but not a hundred miles worth. I never competed in the pool. Still, no walls and no clock is liberating, swimming for joy!
Just stated swimming open water in the caribbean sea, exhilarating a little bit scary, but I am going further a little bit each day into the deep blue. Thank you for this. All that matters. It makes me feel joyous everytime.
On a BICYCLE I've done 100 miles w/o stopping. OW Swimming is a factor of 15 to 18x per mile on the bike. So... That's like a cyclist going 1,500 - 1,800 miles without stopping, without putting feet on the ground, without sleeping... Sarah is a 1-in-7 billion occurrence.
