Still patiently waiting for my copy of Doppelgänger on Libby! I’ve been waiting for months it feels like lol. I’m reading Come & Get It now, I had to stop listening because I couldn’t keep track of the characters, so I’m now reading it. I actually liked but didn’t love Such a Fun Age so we’ll see what I think
I’ve been listening to Doppelgänger on audio (she reads it herself) and I feel like I should get a physical copy because I also feel like I need to underline things. I enjoyed her examination of wellness culture. Nice work describing it because like you said it’s a tough one to summarize.
I found your review for Come and Get it spot on for me as well. I started Doppelgänger, and it was a lot of info, and I had to read it in chunks ( and then it was due back). I am going to try to finish it as an audiobook.
I was already very interested in reading Doppelganger, because I was aware of this awful constant mixing up of the author and Naomi Wolf online (I don't think they actually really look alike at all). And I heard nothing but good things about this book, but your review made me want to read it more sooner than later.
Hi Sabrina. Got to watch and listen while tidying & cleaning. My best books in January North Woods by Daniel Mason How To Build A Boat by Elaine Feeney Falling Animals by Sheila Armstrong Tom Lake by Ann Patchett Currently reading Time Shelter The Bandit Queens 🍀👋☘️📖📚☕️📕🇮🇪
Hi , I had a question about the dopplenganger book, it sounds very interesting. Is the author pro-zionism ?? Given this political climate I'm not sure if I would want to pick up this book then...
Oh absolutely not. I would not promote a book that is pro-zionist on my channel, especially not now. She briefly discusses the history of the Israel-Palestine conflict and points out a lot of the hypocrisies of zionism and the way that Palestinians are treated, given Jewish history. Klein is anti-fascist and anti-colonialist, which she discusses throughout the book. Israel and Palestine are just another topic she covers through that lens.
Thank you. I have found some of my most favorite reads through you! I'm glad you took the break you needed last year, but super happy that you're now back 😊
I've just stated Doppelganger and am very much enjoying it so far. It was interesting to hear you talk about a David Mitchell book because I was recently thinking that I need to reread some of his books. I said he was a favourite author for ages but not it's been so long since I read one of his books I wonder if they'd still work for me. That's a shame about Come & Get It. We're reading it for my patreon book club this month so I'm still hoping at least some people will enjoy it, haha. I'd love to see friday reads videos whenever you fancy doing them :)
I'd be very curious to hear your thoughts on David Mitchell now! I'm going to catch up on all your Patreon videos soon. I sometimes forget it's there and I have a few months of videos to watch. But that's not a bad thing!
