Hi Ian lovely to hear from you again! It was l great spot to spend a few hours at a time of year I find difficult to catch much of any significance. I know it’s a cliche but catching didn’t really matter on that trip!!! Cheers ian

Great to see pulpit rock one of the south coasts great tackle grave yards .a diver came out of the water with 2 lobsters and 2 bass he asked me if I wanted some leads as he had a bag of them ! Me and 3 friends had over 200 fish one long weekend from there .... about 20 wrass and the rest where hand size Pollock ! Never had so many before or since must have been a shoal
@ianclarkfishing

Only time I fished for wrasse off the rocks I used soft crab. Had loads of wrasse on floated crab but they wouldn't touch limpets! Mind you that was on a hot Summer's day.
@ianclarkfishing
@ianclarkfishing Год назад
Yes couldn’t get any crab unfortunately ☹️ Maybe next time!!! Thanks for watching much appreciated cheers ian

That was something different again,you’re full of surprises !! I remember a friend of mine who used to boat fish nearby and used 6/0 hooks and massive velvet swimmers for bait,they used to get them up to 7lb 😲🐟🎣
@ianclarkfishing
@ianclarkfishing Год назад
Wow!!! If we had been able to get crab I think we would have increased our chances of a big one!!! Unfortunately we could only get ragworm ☹️ Still it was a lovely day in a great spot which we both thoroughly enjoyed 👍🎣 thanks as always for watching!!! Cheers ian

I dont know how you kept your cool, with those kayakers not giving you space. Fair play to you, and perhaps some bigger wrasse from that mark in the summer.
@ianclarkfishing
@ianclarkfishing Год назад
Hi mate obviously we would have bagged up if the kayakers weren’t there….. not!😂😂😂 A lovely spot and we will definitely return in warmer weather for sure! Back to the big beach in a couple of weeks I think after some flatties but this made a nice change! Thanks for watching and taking the time to comment cheers ian

I'm a fisherman and don't think the kayakers were that disruptive, in fact I thinking they were struggling in the swell Ian
@ianclarkfishing
@ianclarkfishing Год назад
Hi mick yes they weren’t an issue to me or Chris…. A couple capsized in the swell and the guide was most apologetic!!! I wasn’t upset…. Everyone has a right to the sea!!! Thanks for watching cheers ian

Hi yes definitely the wrong time of year we hope to return this summer!! Is a very beautiful place if a little scary at times… not in a big swell that’s for sure!!! Cheers ian

I have been down at Southborne, Studland, Baiter, Sandbanks, Hurst Shingle, Hengistbury Head and Portland and never had a fisherman come and interfere or crowd us, not once. The number of times walkers have "pretended" not to see the lines and fake walked into them, let their dog eat your bait or food and laugh, allow dogs to run riot and fail to keep them under control, had people swim right in front of me, have children let loose to roam come and mess about with my gear, and yes I have had kayakers hang about right in front of me. They had the whole of Weymouth Bay or Chesil Beach, why would anyone want to hang around the rough sea and rocks. A word of caution to anyone going down to Portland rocks, even a light mist or damp conditions can make the rocks deadly, what seems easy getting down can be deadly when damp and make getting back up almost impossible. I have fished there and it can be good, I always try and make sure its a good day, I am older now and take less risks, things take so much longer to mend, thanks for sharing.
@ianclarkfishing
@ianclarkfishing Год назад
Totally agree with all you say! Especially the slippery nature of the rock ledges on Portland that are treacherous. Even on a relatively calm day like we had we occasionally had a rogue wave sweep up the rock face so vigilance is a must!! Thanks for watching and taking the time to comment much appreciated cheers ian

As a kayaker and a fisherman I would say that taking inexperienced kayakers that close to the rocks with that swell was dangerous. Maybe it’s the fisherman in me but my wife laughed at me when I got nearer the tv to see if I could see your float and look for bites. Us fisherman are really a strange lot.
@ianclarkfishing
@ianclarkfishing Год назад
Ha ha I’m always watching rod tips etc when viewing other RU-vid videos too!! You are not alone!! The kayaker’s got into a bit of trouble but had an experienced guide i think so didn’t look in danger! Thanks again for watching much appreciated cheers ian
