WRC Era in Rallye Monte Carlo - with pure engine sounds (1997-2007) 

Obvious resemblance to road cars made this era so much more appealing than what we have today in WRC. Even Skoda Octavia looks 'different' on the street nowdays

18:35, perhaps one of the most uncompetitive Evolutions of world rally car... but the noise! Turbo and gearbox don't just whine, they scream. Engine doesn't growl, it roars. Anti-lag doesn't pop, it explodes. What a menacing sound.

Last of the Mohicans!!! It's a shame rallying is a dying breed! The sound of the turbos chirping screaming engine's anti lag with flames. Banging out the straight thru pipes like explosion's, it happened to group b, group A then good old WRC, now we have these boring rice rockets that all look and sound the same, each car used to have its own character! Now they all sound alike!!! Rallying used to be the best and most watched sport on the planet!!! fACT!!!!! Now it's almost irrelevant, so sad 🚙💨 😔😔😔 RIP Colin McRae one of the most flamboyant drivers to ever drive a rally car!!!

@slopcier @slopcier Yes, a Hyundai Accent WRC (there was a Hyundai World Rally Team in the series in 2000-2003)

Easily the second best era in rally behind the Group B era of the mid 80s. There's so much competition both in terms of drivers and in terms of manufacturers. These days WRC is pretty stale, there's only 4 different cars and little competition.

@MrMupie Its not dead, just predictable and boring. Once loeb stops winning everything i think itll spring back to life. Same thing that happened to F1 with Schumacher.

On par with the Group B era for me. Why? The cars are close to production spec and having owned, loved and still enjoy a modded STI there aren't too many type of cars one can lust after that have as much character and capability for the money.
