Man, I couldn’t leave the wheel wells, and the front of the box white, that would eat me alive. It’s almost a new truck, and that’s the way I’d make it again.
Guys, I have been a painter for over 35 years. In my experience trying to butt match paint, especially pearl is virtually impossible. Even a brand-new vehicle can have variations of shades depending on the factory that built it. We use a vindicator when we mix our paint. I would not have said anything however, you did ask for people’s opinion. Keep up the great work guys are awesome.
had this matching issue 20 years ago doing tornado red on an 02 VW Golf. Finally scraped some paint off a scrap piece to find the proper primer color. I think you are going to have to blend to make it . The bed front and wheel wells are a dead giveaway of a rebuild fix that while you are at it. Really appreciate you guys. ...F
Yes definitely blend all adjacent panels meaning both cab corners and rear door on right side and left front door and why did you not paint the head board? I get the inside raptor liner the bed and I would raptor liner the wheel wells myself because of the typical over the tire rot that they are known for big dollar truck don't get skimping and in the paint notation it should have stated to use a gray sealer/primer.... surprised your paint shop didn't mention it to you first time picking up the color 🤔.....any time I am working with white parts I seal them in gray/black/red/green depending on color covering it white is a brighter to base colors...if you can't tell I have gotten bitten by the white dog a couple times.... now I always look to see what the factory sealer color is.......I did a VW cabriolet once it had a beige sealer/primer and I went with white and what a disaster to color match....me and the paint mixer decided to tint the white with base colors brown and yellow to get it close to the color VW used.....cost me like $600 bucks for the paint and labor to get it right needless to say I didn't make much on that job blend all the panels connected TRI coat is very unforgiving and you will see it...but nice Job I like that you show when something happens and your honest about it....we are all human and not a one of us are perfect.👍👌✌️🇺🇸🇺🇲
Hard work blending. It's hard to know where to stop the clear coat. Son in law does this for a living. I got some blending foam strip for when i did a Motorhome. Best of luck whichever way you go. It was good to see you know how to handle a spray gun. So many paint in an arc instead of staying parallel to the job.
Hi guys, great second time paint work on door and bed of truck. Hang the door and bed to see if you need to blend the paint job. If not you are home on the paint work. Like to see the complete project.
Looks great and i make no comment about the quality of your work, but why haven’t you done the front of the bed - seems a bit half a job of leave it white?
Ivan and Mike I would have use a yellow Primer over the white truck bed and door that is why the red color paint didn't come out the way you wanted it to look the White bed color washed out the red hope that helps you out
Definitely blend. It’s definitely going to be hard to get some type of match. But with blending it’ll help hind some of the shade difference. Other words it will trick the eye.
Thanks guys for the update on the F250. It is not an easy task to achieve that the painting remains the same as the original, but if the person who sells it is a professional, he can make it by eye based on experience.😉😉
The zebra lines are due to the gun being too close to the panel. PULL BACK. Adjust your fluid feed and fan if needed, but you take so many passes to cover the panel. Your fan is only about what 6 inches tall? It should be 12 or so.
When you got the paint they should have told you to do the grey to start with. It is now much closer but you will need a blend and please paint the front if the bed.
I think it would be best to blend it also please paint the backside of the bed that facing the cab and the wheel wells. I know they are not visible but that is just the lazy way out to leave them the original colour
It’s a pity they didn’t tell you that yesterday I was looking at you paint straight onto the white thinking this is so wrong The right color primer is so important to the finished colour I would be painting both sides fully
I'm trying to learn how to paint so i watch a lot of painting videos. I've noticed even though you're paint jobs turn out beautiful. Your spray gun doesn't have a very wide pattern. It looks more like a touch up gun.
Ivan you are a great painter but one thing concerns me. You are leaving the front of the bed white! On most trucks you would be able to see a bit of white. I haven't looked at a late model Ford to see how much gap there is but I am thinking it's probably pretty much standard gap! Anyhow outstanding job on the build but that part concerned me!
Beautiful color, but if you don't blend it with the existing panels it will be problematic. Viewing it in the sunshine it will be two very different colors. Also, please paint all the white panels, bed and the wheel wells.
Seeing how tricky it is to match paint would almost make me want to wait until I could find the needed body parts already in the factory color. Although I imagine it would be a long wait!
Can't you get the Ford paint code off the door jam sticker and get the paint made to be 100% match??? Also why would you not paint the front of the box and wheel wells. That would drive me crazy.
Honestly blending would most likely look better, I would see how the paint on the gas cap would look next to the truck then make a decision. If it were a truck for myself i would not care, Truck are made to work not really for show
If you don’t mind a little constructive criticism. Perhaps speed up some of the Timelapse portions cause watching Ivan remove door seals for 35 seconds is a bit of overkill. Just my two bits 👍🏼
Leaving any of the white will diminish the quality of the rebuild. Yes, more work but the white is a dead give away of a cheap repair. Nice project overall.
Blend it and please paint the front of the bed. It’s the details that matter. If I spotted that I wouldn’t buy that truck because I would wonder what else was half done. Even if yo sprayed it with the first red it would be better. I love your work but can’t let this go.
Wow , I’d find that if I was interested in this truck and as soon as I see the fender wells white or the back of the bed white I’d run for the hills , very poor quality
