The classic heavy load mod for 30 series installs and similar is to take four pieces of heavy wall 2" box tubing as wide as the leaf springs then weld them (horizontally, radiused areas facing forward and aft) to the overload stops either barely above the top leaf or just touching. That prevents squatting under load though the ride is harsher. If you want easier ride a pair of Timbren urethane overloads never leaks (no air) like bags and does a similar job while not conflicting with anything else like leaves or shocks.
I think we're going to stick bags in place of the factory bump stops. That gives us flexibility side to side if we need it. Might change our mind though and do something like this if we need to
We could but we're trying to keep the rear end as narrow as possible. Roads around here are very tight. We also have some concerns about running these types of loads with wheel spacers. But it's a possibility
Get in contact with Matt from Matt's Off-Road Recovery (MORR), or Paul from FabRats, and see if you can get an invite to the Off-Road Wrecker Olympics 😉🙂
Thanks! We still have a lot of work left to do before it is actually complete. The tires fit well, the only issue is we have a little rubbing on wheel wells of the wrecker bed. There is also a slight rub on the steering control arm at full right lock. We'll be rebuilding the steering so it doesn't make a difference for us
I sub, just cause like that your building Tow truck. it's chevy, but hey everyone can build Tow truck on Chevy. lol. Jk best option plenty of parts available.
