We take a look at the recently released extreme damage mode on Wreckfest, and while we manage to get some sensible racing, we also end up with some very very silly looking vehicles by the end of it.

game lagged while he was turned that way, since the server didn't receive new instructions it kept him going in that direction, which happened to be the side road. Hilariously well timed internet shenanigans

If you want specifics it uses the same damage model as the tech demo for the game years ago. You get DNFed if you lose 2 wheels on the same axle (so 2 fronts will DNF you but 1 rear and 1 front won’t)

That makes sense. If you lose both rears you'd just be sitting there for the rest of the race. If all those racing somehow managed that then the race could never end.

I love how the battle was 100% between the limo and the van. Everytime another car tried to join the battle they were just instantly bullied out of the way

A carpet on wheels at @ 15:57 right there lol, extreme damage on wreckfest is great even just messing around in the wrecking park they added back in from the tech demo, just make sure too set the settings too deathmatch & turn off the contact timer.

This is what I've wanted for multiplayer. Damage being set so high that it makes being a troll driver short lived and more punishing. These are the races that force players to race more respectfully.

You can still get wrecked out, though it's usually from losing two wheels. First time I did this game mode I didn't realize it was selected, and I thought the recent update had broken the bloody game!

The game has always auto DNF's you if you lose 2 wheels. It seems this is the only way to DNF with this, hence how some cars got much more damage than those that DNF'd

Does extreme damage still have engine, transmission, and brake damage? I never really liked the health bar in this game, would much rather have to destroy wheels/engine to knock out a car.

The only way you dnf with this damage is if you loose more than 1 wheel on the same axle if I remember correctly
