Or some wireless remote on your bike ? Or some fingerprint reader used as a remote ? (like this failed project thegadgetflow.com/portfolio/tapdo-smart-fingerprint-remote/ ) or even this kind of remote ? bixi.io/store/bixi-driver-saftey-in-car-gesture-controller?promo=7424 )@@MrDrakenhoff But is it legal to put this kind of stuff in your helmet ?
hey me again ;) it took some time (and a fucking heart attack because i shorted the battery wire, nothing broke luckily) But i finished mine :D i have a "normal" helmet with a black visor, and i don't even notice the board inside the visor, road visibility is perfect! i did end up covering the back of the board with electrical tape to make the inside of the helmet less distracting. To anyone who thinks of trying this for themselves go for it! I've had never soldered something in my life and even I've got it to work. And thanks again for making this video!
I don't know if I should be laughing ar be ashamed that I haven't cleaned it or gotten a new one.. anyways... thanks for watching my dirty soldering iron :D
I've personally done this mod for my own helmet (I use it to ride my electric skateboard), and this is what I've found - Definitely use thicker wires. I used the stock wiring for a while and I'd find it so finicky and also too short to do anything with. Get some 22 gauge wire with some decent insulation and solder on enough length to tuck them somewhere comfortable. My helmet has a battery light on the back, so there's room for a pocket, so I've tucked them there -Use two single AAA cradles. I've tried a double AAA cradle to save on complexity, but all it did was fail to power the visor and heat up the components to no end (Can someone explain this to me? I can't find useful resources) -Make sure your solders are good. Obviously it's good practice for any electronics project, but for something like this where it's jostling around a bit, anything goes, so if you're splicing wires together, give them some good tugs before insulating them with heat shrink to make sure they're not gonna come apart on you -Don't use tape to adhere it to the visor. I've tried packing tape, gorilla tape, duct tape, nothing adheres. I know they've posted a video about how they've actually stuck it to the visor, but me personally, I drilled two little holes in my visor small enough to literally screw the LED's to the visor. Obviously there's less destructive manners, but I was short on parts and found some spare screws lying around that fit perfectly between the eye gaps
((Most likely)) You are having a heat issue because the double AAA cradle is running the batteries into "Series" meaning it is doubling to voltage, not the amperage. The "two single AAA cradles" means you likely had it wired in parallel, which was doubling the available amperage which is what makes your device run longer, instead of doubling the voltage and stressing the circuitry.
Pro tip number 1: buy a 2032/ 3v battery housing and you can use solder it and use a coin/ button 3v battery 👍👍👍 Pro tip number 2: Glue this onto a retractable internal sun visor and simply flip it on or off (the visor not the power switch)
I did try this and there were a few problems with this: 1. The glasses "arm" are super thick because it's housing the batteries. Unless you have a very uniquely shaped or too large of a helmet, I can't see how they would be able to fit. 2. The LEDs cause a reflection inside of the visor. The further away from the visor, the more noticeable the reflection from the LEDs would be. (SIDENOTE: Note that the helmet that I've currently installed this in is the "Icon Variant". This particular model has a lot longer front to back than your average helmet.) If you manage to work around those two things I just mentioned, then yes. It would almost look the same. Thanks for watching :)
@@MrDrakenhoff I mean it does look cool don't get me wrong, I like it, but I'm not sure I'm willing to give up peripheral vision for it. Can you see ok through that?
@@KingKiavash No worries mate. ✌️ I can see through it, but it's compromising my vision. It's not something I can recommend, riding while having this installed. It's only meant for show. 😉👍
Mr.Drakenhoff, it’d be neat if you could figure out how to arrange it/package it so that it all sat on a mirrored visor, so that it was an easy swap out when you’re not riding. If it’s two AAA batteries (1.5v ea), you might be able to get away with a single, smaller LiPO battery (3.7v) running to both power connections, and mount that to the visor underneath the LEDs.
Accidently bumped into your videos as I was looking for what I could do with my helmet. Thumb nail caught my attention as that's actually where I work lol Fun seeing familiar roads everywhere! Great tutorial and keep up the good vids my guy! :D
dude awesome tutorial! can you give the dimensions of the whole circuit board? I'm trying to figure out if it'll fit before i order the glasses. EDIT: found it in chemion's website glassss height is 5,5cm, circuit board might be a bit smaller but I've got the info i need. thanks again, I'm so making this! :D
Noobi-Wan Kenobi actually the closer it got to my visor the brighter it got and the less i could see. Its translucent if it’s a mirrored or smoked visor which means only some light can escape and the rest reflects back off that glass making it flush will just make it brighter.
I don't ride while wearing them. It's possible, but you would compromise a lot your vision. I DON'T recommend riding with these. Also, thanks for watching :)
Riding with this helmet will get you in trouble with the police real fast, regardless what country you are in. It obstructs your field of view way too much. As already stated, really not recommended to drive around like this.
@@MrDrakenhoff I'd have to disagree. Lights inside the helmet will reflect back into the eyes especially at night. I have a custom helmet light using an LED that sits just above my left temple. Without properly designing the LED tube, it would reflect into my eyes with the visor down.
doesnt the light reflect to the inside of ur visor? and will the visibility be a problem when its in your line of sight? (great vid just ordered the glasses to) :)
Ey, cool man! Line of sight is not perfect with this "mod". The helmet that I used had quite a large visor, so I could kinda see above the lights itself. I've ridden with them once or twice and wouldn't really recommend it :P Reflection wont be very noticeable depending on how close to the visor you get the leds. I'd love to see your result if you give it a go, shoot me a pic over at IG ;)
I'll just pop in here and recommend that you shouldn't ride with these. They do block your vision quite a bit. That being said I guess you'll do what you want 😜
Just finished mine about a week ago. So thanks for the how to vid. I got a different version; it came with a rechargeable battery. I managed to take one of the sunglass arms and run it along the side of the helmet so it looks like it's apart of the BT device. Here's hoping for RGB leds in the near future.
Hey, do you mind if I make a mask similar to yours? I’m starting a RU-vid channel and I want to use a cool mask. I’ll give you credit if you like. Do you mind?
A great video and what a blast. It's a great idea and looks great also. Thanks for taking the time to make the video, it's much appreciated and also very well done. Cheers and big thumbs up.
Omg this is such a great idea! If I can afford a black visor I might try this out. If I do I will make a RU-vid video and make sure to give you credit for it! 😄
@@GlobalDesignHD Why would you comment if there is already a comment? Or even better why would you create a song about love when there is already a million songs about love? :P To spread the message and/or create something with your own twist. It's a beautiful thing, creativity.
@@MrDrakenhoff Because you want to comment something different. I hate people that copy standard comments from others. Making a video about his thing while you could also share it. Unless.. the video creator also ripped the idea of someone else, in that instance go ahead.
@@devilz37 Maybe, but not if it prevents accidental death! Lol! 'Yes I'm terribly sorry for your loss, your husband died horribly because he wanted to have a flashing emoji eyes on his helmet'... hmm.
Same here in Portugal, I'm thinking about doing this but instead of placing it on the regular visor I'll place it on my helmets inner drop down sun visor, that way it can remain hidden when not in use.
This might sound like a stupid question, do you actually ride with that helmet and the lights? Because that would take a lot of focus. Regardless. This is a dope video! 😁

Not gonna make one but I find it cool, and you're the first one I see, so well done for the idea. There was a helmet in the past supposed to have cats eyes, I don't know if it has ever been released, but this could make a good little business with many potential customers.
This would work extremely well with the ruroc berserker helmet since you can detach the whole visor/goggles part of the helmet. You'd be able to switch visors to with or w/ LEDs pretty easily
Great idea....reducing your vision by 50% while riding a motorcycle just to look "Cool"...... Good luck with an insurance claim when you have an accident!
Made mine today! Got some wire from the shop. the original was quit short for my helmet. the Batterie packs fit pretty nice in the spot where you are supposed to fit the speaker for a SENA. When someone watches this who hasnt done these yet.Dont worry, the LED wont die incase you switch + and -. trust me (Dumbass me testet this) they just wont turn on. Nearly got a heartattack but saw it, just switched it and it worked again
why would you not remove the visor before trying to apply the velcro to the back side? it would have made that part about six thousand percent easier and more accurate.
@@MrDrakenhoff We forget not all helmets have easy lock mechanisms like SHOEI and AGV do. Not to sure on the others that have them but those are the two I have xp with
@@Icessassin Yeah for sure! I'm looking towards a shoei helmet for the next season. The easy lock is something I'd really love to see the Icon helmets adopt
Didn't even know those are a thing, looks amazing! Do you know if it can handle being wired into the bike? Also may be a good idea to put in a fuse so if worse case scenario you don't have LEDs or a circuit board blowing up and frying part of your face.
Haven't thought of adding fuses, but I don't see how I would be able to fit that. And no I don't think this will be able to be wired to the bike. It uses 2xAAA. Thanks for watching 😀✌️
@@MrDrakenhoff I think the loaf didn't pay much attention to *I DO NOT RECOMMEND WEARING THE GLASSES WHILE RIDING!* ah well, reading isn't everyone's strong point :)
Coming up with an idea like this that can’t even be used while riding ties in perfectly with the fact that you only ride a motorcycle on camera and weekends. Maybe if it’s “nice out”. Lol.
At 2:30 you recommended to use gloves if you wan´t to be extra careful, but than you use some blue Latex gloves O.o. If you wan´t to protect the Circuit board you need an ESD glove. the Latex one may do more damage than using your bare hands.
This made me crack up😂 *YES*, you're absolutely right! The LED's are meant for show only! I don't ride with them, neither do I recommend that people do.
Ive been trying to find a motorcycle helmet with a full led display that lets me put words and stuff on it. Looks like i have to mske it myself almost entirely
Ik this video is 5 years old and prob won’t get a reply but would this also work with the chemion hat? It seems like the same device just in a different place and for cheaper? Would that also work?
Hmm I don’t have an absolute answer for you, but if the device (led board) is the exact same - AND it is removable I would say “yes it should be possible!” I haven’t tested it so i’m only assuming it would ☺️
Please Help! I cant connect my chemion app with Facebook. Facebook tells me the app is unsafe. Is there a other way to download stuff from other users? And is there a good how to Video for the chamion creator app ?
It should be possible to download others presets from the "explorer" section from the app. I don't think there is another way, but hit up CHEMION's support if it still doesn't work 👍
Thats the Problem.. When i click on the explorer section the app wants to connect with facebook. and that doesnt work.error. I tried to email chemion, but when write down my problem on they´re website and click on send.. its sending for ever! This company SUCKZ !!
Kalvin One fortunately I don’t ride with these installed in my helmet, its just for show 👍 ...but -The idea of a “micro-beamer” is interesting indeed! 🤔
Because when riding a motorcycle what you want more of is obstructed vision. If you had an accident and your insurance company found out you had this shit they would say the accident was caused do to intentional vision impairment and not cover you.
Two reasons this would not be functional. The leds would reflect against the visor making it almost impossible to see outside the helmet in low light settings. 2nd its a stupid Fn idea that is sure way to get you Fd up.
If you can fit these glasses inside a helmet, you've got a too big of a helmet for sure mate. I guess that in theory, yes this is possible, but I was unable to successfully do so because my helmet fits my head "perfect" as any safe helmet should.
mike sanchez if not the LED-s themselves the easiest solution would probably just having some green “light-gel” over the board itself. Never tested it myself though 🤔
