This video is part 2 of options off the single leg. Here Nick shows how to transition between take downs, what to do when your partner sprawls and how to battle to turn the corner.
@abcdenoerrors Nick does the head on the inside as well and he realizes that many people will instantly say guillotine and such. He was showing this style as a set up for a double or high crotch.
@Submissions101 Thanks, I'm a Shodan in Combat Judo but also cross train & love to get in the cage which is why I subed. Great tips on the channel Love the vids Ari Keep up the great work.
@chavamma correct. so in street, i wouldn't do the knee drop for full force, just get the single or double, it would still def work for the street people
At 3:14 the guy is gonna be holding on to you and sprawling way harder out what our coach showed us was to do the same thing with leg leg but bend it inwards and drive it back. That will put him on his back. and for single legs you always shoot and stay low.
@abcdenoerrors You can't strike the head or wrench the neck in wrestling; head on the inside makes your head a target for all sorts of punishment. This vid seems to be a vid on how to use wrestling techniques as the basis for the takedown game for any kind of combat sport, not just wrestling.
@abcdenoerrors Inside singles are common in wrestling. Some coaches only teach to circle for outside singles or shoot straight in for doubles, but outside singles can be tough to finish, and some wrestlers block your lead hand from reaching your back leg on doubles. Options off inside singles include switch to a double, high crotch lift, crackdown, and switch to outside single / take the back. In submission wrestling, they might expose you to the crucifix and guillotines (just like doubles).
ive looked through comments for an attempt to understand the head on the outside. it is just as easy to set up a double or a high crotch with the head on the inside like it should be, not to mention you have so much more a solid position. and just dropping your level instead of doing a real shot wont take down anybody with any hips whatsoever. then again, thats not really something you learn by sitting and watching youtube vids.
@Jackthemeat @Jackthemeat Kodokan Judo's changed & evolved to sport. Ever since Jigoro's death, may he rest in peace. This is why the Gracies were victorious vs many Judokas. Many emphasized in the sport aspect, & not the Do,happens when you compete alot.BJJ's the Ne Waza of Judo. Masahiko Kimura's victory over Helio Gracie proves this. Thanks for the tip, I roll @ the Gracie JJ academy in torrance and in all honesty havn't learned anything that I didn't know.
@Jackthemeat Well my Dan grade is in Ju-Te Ryu Combat Judo. Ju-Te Ryu is an eclectic system incorporating elements and techniques derived from Judo/Jujutsu,Taekwon-Do, military combative systems, police defensive tactics, Aikido, boxing, Filipino stick fighting and Muay Thai. It is designed solely for self-defense purposes and has no sporting objective. However I Cross train and the self defense base makes a huge difference In the Cage! -Kind Regards- ChavaMMA
@TimisaWhiteMan That's Great man, if you're aggressor has no knowledge of self defense whatsoever. I in your place wouldn't go to the ground I'd avoid it as much as possible why? 1) you don't know if he's carrying a knife or a weapon & if so. him no top of you is not a great idea 2.) pulling guard on the street takes much more than on the mats. I would stunn him, throw and leave the scene. Distance is also self defense.
@FrankGarrett316 You'd blow your knee out by landing full force on a concrete street or hard surface by attempting this. I wouldn't use this on the street in a self defense situation. The First Leg take downs are ok to do, however not my choice. I'm a Judoka and would much rather throw with an Uchi Mata,Osoto Gari Or Uchi Gari. Before the throws I would've palm striked full force to the nose, or spear hand to the eye, shin kicked to the groin & pop to the ears.
@abcdenoerrors I've always done my single legs from the outside because I'm using it in MMA, inside loves receiving knees more then the outside and I'm more worried about those then a guillotine, and love switching to the double. different styles, different backgrounds and uses/lead ups, as explained below :)
@MasterHatfield I've respect The Gracies and have learned alot from them, My comment was honest yes I've learned new things from them as far as humor, technique tips, respect and BJJ. However I meant to say that yes I did learn but it was nothing new to me. Or anything that I hadn't seen in Combat Judo. As far as the money issue?? you lost me there. -Kind Regards- ChavaMMA
@abcdenoerrors i think it dont raelly matter my wrestling coaches say the same thing but i do it on the outside all the time so it dont really matter as long as he is off balance
@ukuledoj Yeah Defintely, that's what I've mentioned that the first few takedowns would work, however some subscribers must really like submissions101 that they find the need to reply to my post and trash me. Due to the fact that Ari replied to me and this gets them jealous... I dont know why that's happening my post was at somebodyelse and I guess it made good sense worthy of Ari's approving. And yes they're great takedowns for self defense, however I'll stick with Judo.-Kind Regards-
Dude there is no point in arguing with @TGUNZ562 he's full of it! From his comments& way of expressing himself I can assume he has no knowledge of any martial art what so ever. He just cusses out Judo, I'm a NiDan In Combat Judo. Judo is my way of life I respect all martial arts there is no good or bad martial art only bad martial artist. He said his "muay thai" & wrestling would "rape me" I invited him to any of my 3 dojos in Texas to come and train and turned down. Stay Strong & Kind Regards.
@lagook Then do it, don't have to reply to me and ask me to attempt a takedown on your knee. I'm a Judoka and Judo is my fighting Style I stick to what works. -Kind Regards- ChavaMMA
@waldomarek don't waste your time with TGUNZ562, his very poor very limited brain does not let him function as a whole. He's blinded by ignorance. He's one of those jerk type of people with an "ego" due to their low self-esteem who wears Tap Out & Think his a "Fighter" by watching online vids. Stay strong when trying to have an educated argument with Lowlifes like TGUNZ562. -Kind Regards- ChavaMMA
