0:25 is what we call a scramble. If you go out of bounds in freestyle that is one point for 'passivity'. They awarded mongolia the takedown for two points. The coaches were disputing the takedown. In freestyle, if the two periods end in a tie, the match is decided by 'criteria', which means the wrestler with the most recent takedown wins

The “last point wins” rule is the most ridiculous and uncompetitive rule in sports history. They got an equal amount of points meaning they had an equal amount of skill. Either go into overtime or declare a tie
@torben22.16

yeah i dont get why these rules are in there, I think there also is a rule (in latin greek style) when tied that the person who got awarded the most points at once wins, kinda weird imo.

Pretty sure they prioritize the wrestler with the highest scoring move, and if both wrestlers have an equal amount of high scoring moves they see who has the second highest scoring move and so on. Only after the wrestlers are tied in terms of points and they have equal amount of scoring moves do they look at who scored last. All this can be overruled if a wrestler has 2 cautions.

@@SpartanArmy117 In the UFC they use the phrase "don't leave it to the judges", because the decisions they make can sometimes be completely ridiculous, and they almost never go back on decisions once they are made. All athletes have to know ahead of time that refs and judges are sometimes going to be complete morons, and you have to take such decisions out of their hands completely and win beyond doubt. @Apple Account s No but it was passivity. If a person does not engage or at the very least is planning to - that is passivity. This controversy in this situation isnt really that blue got awarded the point, but rather that, thanks to dumbs wrestling rules, that point ended up giving him the win. The mongolian was obviously refusing to engage -which by deffinition falls under passivity, which happens to be against the rules of wrestling. But its dumb as shit that he end up losing the entire thing based on it rather then like in most sports you'd have something like overtime to get out of a draw.
@Ex0rz
@Ex0rz 3 года назад
@@SpartanArmy117 Well the narrator mentioned that theres a rule you arent allowed to be passive in wrestling (I have no idea if such rule actually exists tho). There still was 10 seconds in the clock but hes running from his opponent while celebrating and the opponent had plenty of time to throw him out of the ring. IMO thats more than enough reasons to give away a point.

@Apple Account s dude, it just shows lack of sportsmanship and professionalism for not finishing till the end and celebrating early. It aint rocket science. Rules are rules. @@mrdude9671 Wtf does my not ever getting into the Olympics have to do with it? lol It's STILL called sportsmanship- and the Monogolian set up his OWN defeat by being a smug asswipe and celebrating and running away from the other wrestler for the last few moments of the match. What a stupid thing to say that because im not an Olypmic athelete i cant know the level of YEEEEEARS of work and dedication it takes. When u DO put that much effort and time and training to GEWT to the Olympics- maybe u should also make sure u FOLLOW THE RULE of the Olympics.....and maybe ur coaches shouldn't act like 4 year olds having a tantrum.

@@StefanTonioSampson The judges were bullshitters. Any person worth their own salt would be mad. Its like in an bodybuilding tournament, they chose one guy as the first place, he was receiving the check and the trophy when suddenly the judges made an annoucement for him and guy who came in second to return to the stage so they could judge again(they were also rude in doing it, like it was his fault). The dude did the only thing anyone with some ball would and simply got out of the stage and walked straight to the exit.

You can’t call passivity within the 5 second mark. That is why the Mongolian celebrated the referee broke the rule and gave the losing wrestler the win. It was a bit controversy because earlier in the tournament the same wrestler got called out on the fact that he kept getting the same referee and the referee continuously gave calls in his favor. @@rawsy4769 it was more so that no matter how hard he tried to engage his opponent, his opponent(MGL) already had zero intention of continuing the contest. You could see in the way he was basically sidestepping around in circles. Let's say that they were both equally passive, then the first one to start being passive and disengage from the match before its conclusion was the Mongolian, and in this case, the ruling by the judges is still considered appropriate. They can't give both players a penalty because it is sort of like cause and effect IMO, its like no matter how aggressive you are, if your opponent takes an ultra defensive stance/position/mindset, you will not be able to engage.
