In this video we show the initial steps to perform a heat load calculation in wrightsoft. The first step is to have all information available:
-Floor Plans (Can be imported to wrightsoft in PDF or AutoCAD)
-Project information
-Envelop Values (It will be all in the project information)
There are different ways to start drawing the room layout in right-Draw but the most efficient way is the create rectangular boxes and then merge them. Small closet are don't need to be drawn and they can be merge to adjacent rooms, especially since we will not provide any register to small places like a Walk-in closet for example. In addition the kitchen and dining can be combined in one room.
Check this video for importing a pdf file to wrightsoft and scale it:

Hello, can i ask you why you only selected one wall of owners room & not 3 walls ? Thank you for this tutorial

We only select one wall because the software automatically will account for exterior walls. Interior walls don’t take part in the calculation. Technically, the software takes the expose walls in the perimeter of the house. In this case it takes the plan North wall and plan east wall since they are exposed. Because both walls are one type, we only put one type of wall (envelope properties are the same for both walls)

if wall and roof insulation and total area are not change, does the heat loss change if ceiling vault or not?

That’s a great question. If your ducts are running in the attic this represent a lot of heat load. So in a practical example, I would check in Wrightsoft option A ceiling type A and check the tonnage. Then Option B ceiling type B check the tonnage.

Hello, Thank you for your video, how can you make sure the PDF import drawing file is the same scale in the Right Suite software?
@hvaceasymath

Thanks for your comment. in order to verify this you can directly make a measurement in Wrightsoft. For example a door 3' wide and see if it the real dimension. I might make a video of it.

I meant when you import the PDF file with its drawing you draw the same all-room sizes in Wrightsoft, how can you be sure the room with the import pdf file, for example, a 13'x10' room from the PDF file will be 13'x10' in the Wrightsoft software? How can I import the PDF file with the same scale to Wrightsoft?

@@kamy4531 We usually import the pdf to wrightsoft and then we scale it to match the right size/dimensions of the house. You can perhap refer to the video I just put in the description below. Let me know your thoughts

How come you only change wall 1 and not the other walls?

Great question! We only change one of the room properties so that way it is easy (and more efficient) to copy paste the same room for other locations and we keep the settings. Otherwise we would have to do the same for every room one by one. However, this is one of the methods that I use very often. Always depends on the designer what path to follow.
