We had a few messages about our wringer washer, so I decided to do a little tutorial about it!
This is a speed queen wringer washer, great for any off grid set up! We currently have it running on our generator, and our 3000 watt pure sine wace inverter runs it as well.
Thanks for watching!

You need to add more water to the tub or to put in LESS clothing. The clothing has to move around freely to get a good result. Also you need to position the wringer OVER the tub so the water won't run on the floor.

She did not care if water ran on the floor.

The water coming out of the wringer was also going into the rinse water, not back into the washer. She didn't have it positioned correctly, even if she didn't care if she got water on the floor.

@drewk1514 In addition to that, the washing tub is also a RINSING tub. It is unnecessary and way more work to wring clothes into a sink full of clean water. You drain the tub, re-fill it with cold, clean water, and let it agitate in the washer for a rinse. As an alternative, you can wring the clothes out of dirty water into a laundry basket, then place back in the tub with cold, clean water. Where did people get the idea of using the sink next to a washer to rinse??

I've got a 1955 Maytag wringer washer it is like new no rush or scratches. The person I got it from his mother bought it new and used it a few times then decided she wanted a different style washer lol so she stored the Maytag I've now got and bought her a different style. I've used mine every time and I love it. But I used to do like you do with having another big tub with rinse water behind it but I no longer do that it's easier to just wash your clothes then wring them out and turn on the pump pump out the dirty water then fill the washer back up with rinse water then turn on the agitator let it beat and rinse the cloths then wring them out then pump out the rinse water and presto the cloths are ready for the cloths line.. one other thing I'll add for you is to always rinse out your washer when done then dry it out really good and that keeps it clean and dry and free of rust and keeps your rubber seals from dry rotting sitting in water and keeps mold and mildew from forming..

Nice!! I grew up using a wringer washer almost exactly like the one you're using until I switched to a regular washer 2 years ago just because of convenience/preference 🙂 you did great on your tutorial! By reading your responses to comments, it looks like you've learned some things with the experience- which is great! In case you don't know, when you turn off the wringer- with your fingers, you can feel a plate on the underside of the wringer..that plate is able to tilt 2 ways. If you tilt it towards the side you are taking your clothes from, the dirty water that is being wrung out of the clothes will run back into that tub, instead of it running into the clean rinse water you are wringing the clothes into. At about the 7:23 time stamp is where you can see how the water runs into the clean rinse water. By tilting it the opposite way, it will just keep the rinse water cleaner to where you can do more rinses in it😊 happy washing!

The water should come to the top of the agitator vanes. These machines have so much torque that you can damage the mechanism by not putting the proper load on the vanes. The original machines had a hit and miss gas engine to run the machine. The fact that these machines are still operational is testimony to the quality of their construction.

I myself just have a washing machine. I had a stackable, and wasn't using the dryer. When the washer broke I just got a larger washing machine. The new one spins more water out. Now that it is colder and dryer my clothes dries faster and adds humidity. In the summer or when the humidity is high, I use a dehumidifer, it works wonders in removing water in the air and clothes. Good luck experimenting ways in doing your laundry. You are one hard working momma! Thanks for putting out this video.

Fantastic vid , thanks for sharing.Twin washtubs, many uses for you.Check under the wringer drain board ,there are two pins that tilt the dirty water away when you turn on wringer handle check for adjusting .that's why rinse water became dirty . Looking forward to your next washday vid thanks again for sharing.

Wouldn't have mattered about the drain board position. The wringer was positioned over the floor and rinse tub.

Love the machine but you need to add more water so the clothes can move around. Also the machine should be in the middle of the rinse tubs. It would be a lot easier for you to put the clothes through the wringer and keep your wringer locked in place. By the way, your daughter is a great little helper. Ü

Your daughter is a sweetie, watching her momma doing laundry. I remember doing laundry like this year's ago. It was the cleanest the clothes have ever been. I am 70 now and miss those old washers, they were the best. And the laundry smelled wonderful hanging on the line. Thank you for the memories.

The danger of old machines like this is that, first, you can reach into the tub while the agitator's moving, which can hurt you - and then, second, you can get pinched or squeezed by the wringer. I have a faint memory of being cautioned to never touch the wringer as a little kid in the late 1950s.

My great grandmother had a ringer washer and I got to spend the summer with her in about 1964. And I was helping her do the laundry and I got my hand caught in the ringer! It smashed the hell out of my hand and I was screaming and instead of hitting the release she hit reverse so it reversed it back out. It was the scariest thing I've been through and the pain was phenomenal. My hand was black and blue for days and I found out just how dangerous those machines can be.

I remember when my mom had one of these, I got my arm caught in the wringer but it scared me more then anything. They are awesome machines.

I'm 63 years old. Your putting way to many clothes in, with the amount of water is put in the washer. And your wash water, is going into your rinsed water. When you put them through the wringer. Need to position the wringer so the wash water want go into the rinse water. Other than you did a great job.

Oh yeah, to not waste water. Wash your lest soil clothes first. And reuse the water for the next load.

Where do people get the idea that you have to rinse your clothes outside of the washing machine? That isn't how you rinse clothes. You drain the washing machine, then re-fill the washer with clean, cold water, and let it agitate again. No need for a large sink to pour huge buckets of water in it. This method is creating way more work than it needs to.

You're putting dirty water into your rinse water. Fix the wringer to be over your dirty wash water.
