Do you have trouble releasing the disc with the correct nose angle? It is a problem that all disc golfers come across when they first start playing. Getting the disc nose down on correct angles is one of the hardest parts of the game. Hang out with Jer and Sammy as they break down the mechanics of your wrist during backhand drives in order to achieve max distance.

Thank you guys. Been making so many form changes this last 1.5years and this is something I failed to consider with my most recent changes. Can't wait to get out in the field and apply this.

Sweet..stoked to hear it. Always fun to play around with si ple changes to see how it can affect the flight.

As I'm relearning my form. I'm attempting to focus on my wrist angle and it seems to be helping a lot. Thanks for all the handy tips!

Wrist angle is huge! So important to keep good height control off the tee, and it's a great way to lick that in.

@@samuelaldrich1085 just hit a personal distance record for the first time in the last year today. Threw 423 with a nuke SS on a baby hyzer! Wrist angle for the win!

Just stumbled upon your channel (from South FL) thanks for the tips! As a backhanded thrower (only) the angle control is everything. I also know humans are creatures of habit(s) that are hard to break unless you "practice" throwing, and that's separate from during a single round. Thanks and I'll be looking forward to more...cheers🥂 @kettnet

Cheers friend! My forehand game is almost gone because of an injury, so having good angle control is definitely key. Glad you saw value in the lesson :)

If you pause the video at 0:55 and 1:01 you can see that he's throwing in the "pour the tea" or ulnar deviation wrist position and STILL throwing way up in the sky. The shots are hyzering out because of wrist pronation, NOT lack of ulnar deviation like you're advising.

I'll have to take a look into that! Interesting. I appreciate the insight :). I do remember him talking about how he prefers to get his thumb more in the middle of the disc to cause the nose up throw to intentionally happen rather than having, what I like to call, a lazy wrist. Throwing poorly on purpose is always kind of a weird thing to do we've come to find out lol. That being said, getting the nose angle to be flatter in general makes for a better shot (for a standard throw with no weird obstacles) and, especially for newer players, seems to be a useful tip from my experience.

Good work guys, keep them coming. What’s your view on curling the wrist as your pulling through pro or con I wonder.
@samuelaldrich1085
@samuelaldrich1085 5 месяцев назад
Definitely an interesting topic. MattyO is someone that comes to mind who seems to have a decent amount of curl in his wrist. I think for beginners, there's a ton of value in limiting what CAN move, so for newbies I generally teach a more static wrist (certainly not completely still) in the pull through all the way through the throw. That being said, higher RPMs lead to more distance it seems..and if you can control it well, then it must have benefit!

Thanks for another great lesson guys. I end up watching these vids over and over to pound them into my brain. Blue would be my choice cause who doesn't like a great smelling disc. @campngolf

im stuck at 400ft-430ft when i get it out further then 430ft i can feel the heaviness of the disc otherwise i feel the disc is light in my hands and im sure that has to do with proper timing and lag.. would be nice to get a video on this.. i know i have another 200ft in me!
@samuelaldrich1085
@samuelaldrich1085 5 месяцев назад
I can understand that. Lag is an interesting topic for sure. I've always thought about the concept of building up the potential energy and having it move to kinetic (yay physics!). I know when I'm trying to push the disc out to 450+, it comes down to transferring all the stored energy from loading my hips. I think Drew Gibson is my favorite person to watch for that. He seems to get his hips and lower body involved in a massive way. Crazy to see his short/slow run up result in 500ft bombs lol.

Blue would be my choice! Never thought about "smelling" a disc. I think I'll have to do a sniff test with every disc I buy now. 😂 @_i_did_a_thing_

😂😂 some discs definitely smell better than others. This particular plastic is infused with some sort of aromatics though, so it's actually kind of a sweet smell!
