It's unreal how much seeing 1 thick riff video per week inspires me to write more riffs! Not that his skill is better, or tools, it's just hearing something creatively unique and knowing I can spin a small section into my own that will eventually turn out completely unique as well. Just like musicians have been doing forever. We don't steal.... we borrow from the collective creative continous. Keep up with the awesome riffs! 🤘

By far and away my favorite riff you’ve ever put together for a Thick Riff Thursday, please iterate on it and make it a full song. This one is special, it hits so very different.

Excuse me, we're metal guitarists, we only play in the key of the open low string. If you want to play in a different key you use a pitch shifter, no barre chords allowed!

I wouldn't be surprised if the Gate from the plugins had a "key input" that gates against the DI signal similar to the decimator or zuul.

Went from a Helix to a QC myself and just absolutely love the thing. I already had Neural plugins and man it is amazing that we can integrate now.

You can double tap a block to turn them on/off. I’m glad you’re stoked on the QC! It’s so fun making presets while experimenting with cloud captures and all the goodies that come stock. Another bangin’ riff btw 🤘

13:38 Oh heck yeah dude I've got a similar unit (ME-25) and I still love it. It's my first multi-effects processor and it still is the only thing that I use to get low-latency audio on Ableton for recording lol. Loved the episode as usual Nick! Keep it up dude!

This is probably my favorite riff you’ve done so far and I’m not typically into this style anymore and higher tuning anymore. The way u can dial in the tones, write the riff, program drums and bass all in a few hours is insane! It’d take me weeks to be able to do something half as good as this 😂 Be awesome to do a drop D1 deathcore/slam type riff/breakdown soon!

Brother, I know I've been annoying you with Milton cleans for a while now, but I know Monuments/Fell Silent/TesseracT fans wanna hear those! Pieao guitar or one with a single coil on the neck, no IR, very clean amp with no bass, a slight chorus, massive reverb with an almost unending tail, a bit of octave up on a massive delay and you should be there! By the way, if you've never listened to Fell Silent, I know the singing is not for everyone, but some of these riffs are gold! Cheers, and as always, great episode! QC seems like a great tool, can't wait to stop being poor and grab one ahaha 😘

Dude I’ve always thought the same thing about the neural dsp gate. My other sims don’t have nearly the quality gate.

Love my QC as well but where I'm stuck is when I want to change the tone/signal chain in the middle of a recording session. You'd have to reamp which takes time. That's the nice thing about using the plugins, switching profiles and tones is a breeze and saves not having to reamp all the time. Helix has the Native app which worked great. Is there a way to work in a similar fashion on the QC in studio? LOOOOVE THICK RRRRifffff RIIFDays!!.

I agree on that statement about the regular plugin gate. I just prefer it to all the other pedal gates in their plugins🤷‍♂

Legitimate (and probably stupid) question: if you dial in a sound with a DAW/amp sim, etc, how do you replicate that when you’re playing in a live setting?
