Stuff we use:
CAMERA - This is the camera we have used to film 90+% of our interviews (over 200 interviews and counting) It continues to be our workhorse - amzn.to/2u66V1J
LENS - Most people ask us what camera we use, no one ever asks about the lens which filmmakers always tell us is more important. This lens was a big investment for us and one we wish we could have made sooner. Started using this lens at the end of 2013 - amzn.to/2tbtmOq
AUDIO
Rode VideoMic Pro - The Rode mic helps us capture our backup audio. It also helps us sync up our audio in post amzn.to/2t1n2hx
Audio Recorder - If we had to do it all over again, this is probably the first item we would have bought - amzn.to/2tbFlM9
LIGHTS - Although we like to use as much natural light as we can, we often enhance the lighting with this small portable light. We have two of them and they have saved us a number of times - amzn.to/2u5UnHv
COMPUTER - Our favorite computer, we each have one and have used various models since 2010 - amzn.to/2t1M67Z
EDITING - We upgraded our editing suite this year and we’re glad we did! This has improved our workflow and the quality of our work. Having new software also helps when we have a problem, it’s easy to search and find a solution - goo.gl/56LnpM

Thank you for bringing back my favorite interviewer. I've watched each of his interviews multiple times over the years, I can't express how helpful and insightful they are. The Core Wound idea is wonderful to take as a basis for any character, though while I still struggle with making these wounds complex or unique enough, I know where to aim thanks to you - the rest is in the writing. The improvement must come from me.

Take the enneagram. Look at the Fears. Create a childhood memory that developed that Fear. Pick somewhere on the Average level for the character. During the first act have them take a step back to Unhealthy in reaction to your conflict addressing their Fear. Then in the second act have them take two steps up the rung to Healthy. There you go. How to create Wounds, and arcs that show believable growth using them.

By coincidence, from Anne Rice: "I'm answering a question from Heidi Ely, about writing every day. --- Heidi, I have never written every day, and never said I thought a writer had to write every day. So if I gave you that impression in the past, please forgive me. ---- I do believe that we learn to write by writing, and that we become the writers of our dreams through writing, and that there are no rules for how to approach it, or do it, or get it done which apply to all writers. --- Decades ago, I was deeply hurt by some one who told me that he had never known a real writer who didn't write every day. Deeply hurt. --- I go months without writing. When I do take the plunge, I'm obsessive. I write as much as I can each day or night, driven to complete the novel, until I do reach the end. --- It's as much of a challenge now as it ever was. --- Beginning is always, for me, the hardest part. --- Bottom line? I believe in doing what works, what facilitates the flow of words, the engagement with the novel. I'll exploit anything that might inspire me to hit the keyboard and go to work. ---"

"writing is such a horrible thing, but of course you gotta write every day" that sums up the writing life pretty well

I just started screenwriting with others - as a team. And they say I'm great. And, yes, they abused me after the first reads, but hey, they kept saying I'm amazing. You are right. That validation is needed. I was always waiting for them to give up on me. Feeling lucky,.... um, well,... so far. But all of this is validating. Thank you for sharing.

So many nuggets to take away from your interviews with Peter! The last several minutes of this 🤯...I haven’t worked in Hollywood but, WOW, did Peter seem to be able to articulate its pulse and in a way I don’t think anyone else could. SO much appreciation to you there at Film Courage 🙏 Your content is not lost on me. Thank you, thank you.

This interviewer seems completely naive and clueless about the Jack Johnson thing. She's like: why did they do that? Why did they feel threatened by him? Why legal issues? Uh, like he said at the beginning, Johnson was black man in the early 20th century who had a lot of success, was dating white women, and not being shy about any of it. Should be glaringly obvious what the issues Johnson was running into were lol.
