Hey Dan I’d say I love to see you do both but I’m sure that is lot as well. All I can say is watching you do these 30min-1hr challenges teaches me SO much every time and it always inspires me to make more music and it has been very encouraging. There are not many people who are doing these work in progress videos so I really appreciate it when I see them from you. Thanks a lot Dan!

Hi Dan, great sketch. For your question to the audience, I'd love to see you take this things into a Sketch & Finish sort of cadence. It's hard for me to imagine what else one would do with a piece like this and having someone with your knowledge take it forward would be a huge learning opportunity.

Dear Dan, wonderful!!!! I suggest that you keep doing videos like this, from scratch and call it for example "Part One" and the make a "Part Two" where you go deeper and develop the so called sketch to a complete piece (maybe only show the final product and explaining how you get there, so the video is not too long, but I personally would watch it entirely no matter how long :-)). I would love to hear both the process: fast composing for sketch, and then the refining it. Thank you for the great inspiration and your wonderful music and tutorials!

Dan, I love what you do! - I would like to see where this goes but I think 2 hours would be too long. Perhaps a 40-minute video showing the final version and points explaining your reasoning/thoughts for what changed, why you add or subtract, how/why you use some automation. Thank you for adding to our knowledge!

First of all, Dan, this composition was simply enchanting and I loved seeing it all come together. Per your question at the end: 1. I love seeing these timed challenges, but I think for me, an hour is kind of my upper limit; more than that, and I’ll probably have to take a pause somewhere in the middle (just because life is busy), and I may or may not ever get back to it. 2. That said, I would love to see your process in taking these challenges to full, complete pieces! Perhaps even as a series of videos-the first being the initial challenge, only using a single library, possibly finishing before you’re completely happy with it. Then in a second video, maybe you might bring in other instrumentation or libraries (not necessary, but I thought some strings might compliment this particular composition quite well) or something, and then in a final video, you might show how you put together a final mix/master for those of us less experienced with those finishing touches. 3. I also love your other types of content, such as your recent thoughts about Pianobook or talking about other music tech, so I would love to see more of that as well. Hope this helps! I love to listen to long winded videos when doing chores, but I wouldn’t sit down and watch it unless I was trying to relax or fall asleep.

Thanks for another great video! I'm a huge fan of these exercises you do, starting from scratch, sketching out a composition within 30-40 mins! You style and talent makes these kinds of videos so watchable in general, and I seem to pick up a few new tips every time as I watch you sketch out and compose at speed. As for follow-up videos where you could then go on to master and perfect the tracks, that sounds interesting too - although I do personally lose some interest when it comes to that part of the creative process - but still great learning for us all and of course brilliant entertainment in general just watching you write and produce music! One last final bit of feedback from me since you asked - I like the idea of featuring a specific library for each these exercises, but I'd suggest where that library has a limited range sounds, I think where the composition needs it, then using sounds from other libraries to complete the piece would be beneficial rather than religiously sticking to only using sounds from the feature library and limiting the final result. I wouldn’t mind watching a two hour video at all! Love the piece! Reminds me of something Steven Wilson would write or Richard Barbieri, the keyboard player from Steven’s band Porcupine Tree… (if you don’t know them, definitely check them out)

I find it extremely inspiring to see you build something from scratch within this time constraint. It actually encouraged me to try the same thing. Maybe every once in a while you could pick up one of those "sketches" and build it into something bigger? Also, I'd be really interested to learn how you came about with all those different presets ("DK Air", etc.) and if you have any tips as to how to build our own (would be very interested to see your settings in those as well, but I get that this might be something you're hesitant to share)

I'd love to see the next steps as a follow up!! How about Part 1 (this) and a Part 2 (filling and mastering)?

Longer videos showing the complete process would be great, even if edited to show the most crucial steps. The against the clock thing is not necessary for me, its more about the process. By the way this video made me revisit your Scarbo one and finally buy it. 😆

I think a two hour or more video would be fine. I mean, there is a pause button. For the viewer, it's just like sitting in the studio alongside you. And in real, life two hours of that would fly by, I'm sure. There are certain logic techniques I'd like to learn next, but you haven't asked for requests and I should be able to get the information elsewhere, so I wont make a requests.

I bought Vespertone and to me there’s something weird with the phase of the instrument. It’s hard to put my finger on the problem.

Great as usual, I think 2hours is too long, but what if you broke it down into different parts of say 30 minutes. Just a idea.

I don't watch many videos past 10 minutes. Usually the first 5 and last 5 if it's longer than 10. 😂
