Writer's Analysis - Writing Lessons Thanks to The Acolyte's UTTER TRAGEDY!
Now that we have gotten to the end of Disney Star Wars' dreadful series The Acolyte, it's time for us authors to pick the carcass apart and see what nuggets of good advice we can pull from this. It is incumbent on everyone who wants good stories to stand up to travesties like this show, demonstrate what was done awfully, and point writers in a better direction.
So... Let's return to The Acolyte!

Hahahaha! If they somehow pull that off, I'll just tell people to follow whatever nasty formula they;re cooing with. Because society will be truly lost at that point.

I’ve always say this about Star Wars. A good story can tell a great message. However, a good message CANNOT tell a good story. Once Star Wars stops trying to send messages first and focus on a good story people will continue to hate it.

@@jamesgriffieth7873 Awesome! I've been trying to incorporate more of my own experience and training as a teacher into some of these videos, especially on our live streams. Sometimes all a novice author needs is a good, bonafide lesson. And I try to do that. So, thanks for noticing. :)

Honestly I think this show suffered from all of Disney's bad habits. Certain things can't be criticized - not helping, you need feedback! Scrapbooking - kitbashed, multi-version scripts should NOT make it to production, it has to be unified before cameras roll, can't all be fixed in the editing room. Identity - messing with a characters' sense of identity is great for stories, but ONLY if they have an identity in the first place!

Bad production habits, a lack of humility to take criticism and learn, and worrying more about check marks than the story... Those and so many other mistakes have really hurt so many of Disney's recent shows and movies. There's honestly some great ideas and concepts in the bunch, but they continuously self-sabotage.

@camillesharem The funniest thing is that it's essentially the world's most expensive writing prompt. Everyone who talks about it can't help but start inventing ways to progress the plot and characters more naturally... then they stop themselves and go "wait, I'm thinking more about this than the actual writers!" But we don't have to stop, it's already fanfic, may as well come up with our own versions. It's giving us all practice :)

@@ethanmoon3925 Hahahaha! That is such a great way of putting it. Yeah, let people keep developing the prompt and story further; show Disney how it's done! Maybe one of these writers here on the internet will one day have the chance to to work on Star Wars and actually do something great. It might be a dream, but it's one worth working towards!
