Regardless of what happens next, this year was a win for WSU. UW and WSU went through similar circumstances, but UW was incapable of overcoming. WSU did and thrived. Even if they lose their bowl game, they end the year on a positive record. UW ends their season on a losing record. Good job boys. Rest up, you guys deserve it.
Oh calm down, y’all got lucky 1 year it’s good acting like we haven’t been kickin the cougars ass for the past years I don’t want to hear it. It’s just a bad season that’s all.
He's not even being dramatic. You're just mad, that's all. Cougs ran a good program this year, even when they lost their head coach. UW got the same scenario too. One team just handled it better. Losses from previous years should be no indication of what a program is capable of doing in the present.
@@dakotalafferty5810 we win sometimes you win sometimes. It’s all love at the end of the day. I go to Wsu but got lots of friends at Uw. Fun game to watch and glad we took it. Always wishing the best for the school down west!
I couldn’t envision a team to play together with such passion after we lost Leach……. Man this team is awesome and how they play for each other and the staff bodes well for things to come. Go cougs!
I love my Cougs! I 've been a fan since 1978 (that's when I made my choice between UW and WSU, I was 10 years old.). Through the great seasons and not so great seasons my loyalty has never wavered. #GoCougs
I never saw this type of leadership or team unity under Leach. This was a thorough beat down. The score doesn’t reflect it either, WSU left a lot of points on the field. They probably should’ve had 50-60 points total.
Leach managed to unify the team, but a LOT of Leach's problems came from the fact that he kept trying to do the same thing against UW hoping for a different result. That and the fact that he doesn't take rivalry games as seriously as he should IMO, he's having the same issues at Miss St. 0-2 in the Egg Bowl. Honestly why I wasn't too upset when he left, and honestly the change in leadership showed, I do kind of find it kind of funny tho this Apple Cup went the same way the previous 6 Apple Cups have gone, just that this time it was WSU giving the beat down.
@@jalenbarnes7888 true. But UW was pretty bad this year lol I have a theory, tell me your thoughts on it. I think Leach is a good coach especially for the air raid. But I think he has a ceiling as a coach (or maybe the air raid in general).. for example he can take a fairly bad team and make them good (Texas tech, WSU, MS, etc). But he can’t make them great. Once he hits the plateau of maxing them out, he will leave to another team that’s not very good and build the program up. Until he leaves again once he hits the ceiling. It feels almost like a cop out
@@ez8308 I don't know if I agree with him just wanting to jump ship after reaching the ceiling as a coach for the team. (I only say that cause of what Tech did to him) However everything before that point: 100% agree with you there. He's good about raising the bar for struggling teams, but fails to keep raising it. I think some of the reasons for that is the fact that he hasn't himself actually played football. Now while this isn't exactly a bad thing, IMO there's two components to making a good team, making a good game plan, and being able to inspire players. Leach excels in making game plans, however it's that other phase where he REALLY struggles. I mean look at the times Leach was at WSU and we lost games and he would just trash the players (JV softball team comes to mind after losing to Boise St in 2016) Yeah while players themselves might not be executing, there's two pieces: the players and the coaching. And too many times it seems like Leach never really wanted to take responsibility for some of the coaching mistakes he made. I mean hell, there were reason's why some of the games WSU lost was because of his coaching (2013 New Mexico Bowl is a prime example)
Excessive Celebration shows the pathetic situation. When your accustomed to getting beat nearly every year you have just a few times to let out years of pent-up frustration.
WSU made the right call, getting rid of rolo and putting Jake Dickert at the wheel. Jake might not be an offensive guy but the play calling has been much more logical since he has been HC. Running the ball a lot more, taking the points when you can rather than going for a TD on 4th all the time, every other pass play isn’t a WR screen……ect. They played their best game at the end of the season, played hard and kept on the gas every quarter. GO COUGS!
He's 3-3 as a HC but let's look at his 3 LS 21-19 loss to a really good BYU team (BYU also scored the fewest points out of all Pac-12 teams they played) 38-24 loss to a really good Oregon team. Game was tied at half but everyone was also losing to Oregon until they ran into Utah and a 24-21 loss to Central Michigan where most of our core players were out and C Mich was at full strength (I'm pretty convinced if we had a full team we would have won that game) and his 3 W's were to ASU (a favorite in the South) Arizona (a bad team that we were suppose to beat, and did so in dominating fashion) and of course UW (the same way they dismantled us in the past 7 AC's) Definitely a bright future on the Palouse.
7:56 Armani Marsh Intercept here really rubs salt in the wound when you realize its of the hands of his old highscool teammate Devin Culp who was also in the same class
There was this video of Culp spread around the internet a few days before Apple Cup of him stepping all over the Coug flag. What goes around comes around
I admit it when I am wrong. I apologize to those I offended. I was an early doubter about Coach Dickert. I doubted it was a good choice. A defense at Wyoming that we trashed. But over the last two years I paid attention. I began to see I was wrong even when things were going badly. Leadership matters. You see it when it fails, you see it when there is success. This is a great choice for our new head coach. Such a great day to be a Coug. So proud to be a Coug.
Go WSU! Been a fan since 73/74 when I lived in Pullman for a year - the way your guys are playing for each other shows week in and week out this season - it's a credit to to you all as players and to your coaching staff. Happy Thanksgiving to you all - there's always a part of me that still misses the Palouse.
You seriously gotta wonder if Huard would even be on the roster if his name wasn’t Huard. He was terrible. His 2 long completions were basically just jump balls, not hitting open receivers in stride, not to mention all of his interceptions. Why does his release look so slow?
Go Cougs! But please don't make the final score the preview image. I was able to watch live last night, but on the east coast, I normally only get to watch the highlights the next day and try hard to avoid spoilers.
