I’ve never been the biggest fan of this track, but my goodness, these touring cars were fantastic on it! There were battles continuing through every corner of the track, and the variety of lines drivers were able to take was astounding. I definitely hope WTCR comes back, because that was some excellent racing after the restart.
Never heard of taking sector 2 as a start point. That regardless, it clearly was unsafe so prob reason why tyres were changed. I have definitely seen something similar in F1 at some point. Tyre changes enforced on safety grounds after red flag. As for dude who caused red flag taking the start... again, I have defo seen that in F1, especially in the days of T cars... first corner crashes, red flag, everyone allowed to jump in T car for restart. Only time that wasn't the case was when in later years teams were only allowed 1 T car... in the case where two teammates were involved obviously 1 could not take the restart unless they could get their car back & repaired. As for 1 sole car being responsible... I don't recall any examples where a race was red flagged for 1 car & that car/driver was in any condition to take the restart. Someone with a better memory might. However, it would appear that both cases are covered by the WTCR rules separate/in conjunction to the FIA rules and he wasn't allowed to restart.
God knows what the hell Catsburg was doing. From 2 car lengths back into the side of Muller with almost full force, pretty insane. Makes the skeptic in me wonder if he did it on purpose.
If they are restarting the race from sector 2 ... why are they allowed to change tires?.. A change of tires signifies a race restart.. looks like a lot of knuckleheadery happening here.. made me lose some respect for this series..Looking like the officials are knowingly backing a specific team.. Who do we have to investigate the officials? The rules are clear.. Pitty i can't only give the Officials a thumbs down on here..UPDATE... So the rules are correct on the restart and the tires.. SMFH ... still don't agree.. so if the track start s to dry .. they can now change to slicks again? yeah... they can clean up that rule
Tyre change was allowed for security for all drivers, because the rain was heavier. All drivers had slicks in front and rain on rear. Azcona was the only with full slicks set.
