Had me on the edge of my seat! Felt like I was in the car with you. That little slide at about 4:10... 😎. Like a perfectly executed dance move. The commitment. My God!
Thanks Preston, was really sorry to see you taken out that way. Always want to race with EVERYONE on the track, giving their best. Your situation was just a mm or two away from not being anything at all. Sometimes its just not your day.
I guess thats one way of looking at it. Another could be both Thomas and Yiannis found each other doing what they were doing best, riding over their limits
Nice race, great coverage of a lot of the events in that race. FWIW.. I think you were closer to my bumper than a few others during the race. I could have used the help.. I thought Elivan and Tyler were going to touch in 17 and I was going to steal one :)
Thanks Jim, it was a great race to be in, as long as we came out clean. But for so many it was a shit show. Something that Spec Miata has got away from for a long time. Hate to see it return
@@connorzilisch5696 I hope you are wrong Connor, but I have seen first hand what money, talent, or lack thereof, and heavily invested parents living through their kids can do to a sport. And its definitely NOT pretty
2:00 Cosmic justice! 5:40 No wonder you guys were beating track records, you finally found the fastest line! 12:14 Beautiful! 14:08 Ouch... that's not a good feeling Fun video, I'm still not sure if I'm envious of the people who went or glad I was home on the couch instead! Skip Sr. seems to be proven right about Sebring every year.
im gonna go jump in my 95 M edition and and drive around myrtle beach....dealing with the tourists and other NON driving personnel on the is pretty close to what i just seen here lol ...great race man
@@dannysteyn I tried - got my comp license with NASA and raced but realized my reaction times and focus are not there - I started too late in life. I did have a blast though!
How many cars didn't finish? How many cars were damaged and how many severely damaged? Did the officials issue any penalties and/or were any protest filed?
79 cars actually started, 13 cars retired before the finish line, some on the last lap as you saw, but of those 13 most were classified as finishers and 73 cars are shown to have finished more than 1/2 race distance
Sashimi, yes there was one protest, and the offending car was moved to last in class on the official results, beyond that I do not know of other protests / action
Not right now, but its only his 2nd weekend in a car with a gearbox. He is a NICE kid, and very fast, he just has to slow down to go fast. But if he doesn't do that, he is gonna earn the WRONG reputation. Personally I am optimistic that he will get it sorted soon.
Even in the draft the blue car and the car in front of you on the last lap had so Much more motor... By SM standards at least. You think everyone's playing fair?
@@dannysteyn Everytime I watch your SM vids I want to get back in a Miata... But the frustration of outliers is what pushed me into STL/STU after 10+ SM years. Maybe this season 🤷
@@ericthompson165 Eric, I understand and live your frustration, but the reality is that in ANY class there will always be overdogs. I am in this crazy sport for fun and satisfaction, and if all I am able to do with my skills, prep and car is finish 4th, then I am OK with that. I dont have to win every race to meet my goals.
