They were individual competitors on a survival elimination show called "Phantom Singer" whose goal was to create a crossover vocal quartet like II Divo. They compete 1 v. 1, then the survivors move on to recruit for duos, then trios... and finally the Quartet. The guy 2nd from the right (Mingyu) won every round and that gave him the chance to recruit the others. Left to right Woorim - Classically trained Basso Profundo Hyungho - Rock Countertenor (zero training until he joined the group) Mingyu - Leader and Classically trained Leggiero Tenor (he and Woorim went to the same school) Doohoon - Musical Theater Actor, Baritenor They are lightning in a bottle. The show has turned out several great quartets, but none have the widespread appeal of Forestella. They continue to enter competitions, put out albums and even toured N. America last year. They intend to keep performing, but they are a man down for the next year+ as their Bass, Woorim, completes his Mandatory Military service. They have done everything from their original K-pop song, "Kool", to their new rock waltz, "Snow Globe" (which seems to be a fanciful retelling of them coming together as a team). They don't believe in genres and fear no style of song. Outstanding live performances to check out, Lazenca, Save Us (From the Space Rock Opera), Legends Never Die, Hijo de la Luna, Time in a Bottle, Je Suis Malade, Gondre Mandre (Dead Drunk), and Despacito. For an extra treat, check out Kang Hyungho's "Phantom of the Opera" audition (he sings both The Phantom and Christine's parts), or Cho Mingyu's "Balada de la Trompeta". They also have a number of songs they have done as solos

Je Suis Malade (french), Bohemian Rhapsody, Legends Never Die, Inner Universe (Russian), Nella Fantasia(Italian), Dead Drunk (Korean Trot). All of those diferent syles. Their Originals Save Our Lives, Utopia (first two of a trylogy), White Night, Snow Globe, Chagall's Dream, are great sons to check too!!! Enjoy!!!

Forestella is a crossover group from Korea. They were grouped through Phantom Singer 2; an audition show to form a crossover quartet like il Divo from Korea and won it. However, as they have their own unique style, they won't be Korean il Divo, they will be the Forestella of the world! Hence Forestella has sung great covers in various TV shows, better filter on the video to avoid copyright block. Forestella dared to cover the songs like Bohemian Rhapsody, We are the Champions, Hijo de la Luna, Heal the World, the Sound of Silence, My Favorite Things, Champions (mash-up of Champs league theme and Champions by Jo SuMi), Nella Fantasia, Scarborough Fair..etc etc. At the Phantom Singer All Stars they sang Time in a bottle, Je suis Malade as well. Shape of You in English, Spanish and African Zulu is fantastic indeed. You can even see them dancing singing Smooth Criminal as well! If you are a LOL fan, check their Warriors and Legends Never Die! And they broke the record of their own with EXO's MAMA winning 6 trophies for King of Kings in a row in Immortal Songs. Check their magnificent performances of Bad Romance and Lazenca Save us, Unwritten Legend and Despacito too. Forestella is a quartet of Ko WooRim (a classical bass, intense abyss-deep low tone), Kang HyungHo (an ex-petrochemical research engineer, rock vocalist with soprano head voice falsetto), Cho MinGyu (a classical leggiero tenor, light boyish crystal clear tone) and Bae DooHoon (a musical actor, 159th King of the Masked Singers, emotion convincer good at R&B, Pop). Each has distinct tone and style of singing, different charm. But all of them are famous as practice-freaks. They meet almost everyday to practice together. In a radio program the leader (Cho MinGyu) revealed it would be around 20 days they didn't meet in the year. Bae DooHoon also said they don't meet 1~2 days in a month. I think this explains how their perfection can be possible. Don't miss their m/v for Save our lives! It's full of wonders. Each of them is representing an element in the m/v. They sang Fake Love of BTS and their song Save our lives at MAMA. Their majestic original song Utopia is a must-check. Now I see they are creating a genre called Forestella. They showed "What crossover is" with Save our lives and showing "What Forestella does" with Utopia! Enjoy their diversity with their original song White Night too. Forestella released their single KOOL in Kpop style to fulfill their promise of Kpop cover dance for exceeding 990K views of Save our lives m/v. They struggled to choose a Kpop to dance, became to think making their own Kpop song with dance! As crossover works for all genres, Forestella did a great job for their fans. Take a listening to Chosen One, an EPIC OST of the Sword of Aramun. Forestella released fantastic original Snow Globe m/v! Kang HyungHo composed it, and all the Forestella members contributed in arranging it. Another original Chagall's Dream brings me back the moment of Forestella Festival in my heart, I feel like in my lucid dream seeing Forestella altogether in the future in advance. As the latest, Forestella sang Stuck in a Maze as a quartet. Don't miss it! Nowadays just 3 of them are active as trio because their bass Ko WooRim had to enlist for his national duty till 2025 May. I think The Show Must Go On in trio is their statement to keep singing even while waiting for their bass.

Great reaction. Try Lazenca Save Us or maybe MAMA originally by EXO. They also did a double at MAMA in Japan in 2022 ..a short version of BTS’ s FAKE LOVE leading into their original Save Our Lives live or Queen’s BOHEMIAN RHAPSODY …they love Queen …so checkout We Are Champions, and another favourite of mine THE SHOW MUST GO ON as a trio because the bass singer Ko Woorim is currently doing his 18 month mandatory military duty til May 2025.

Prior to his appearance on Phantom Singer, Bae Doo-hoon was a musical actor and guest vocalist of the fusion Gugak band AUX, and Kang Hyung-ho was a researcher at the chemistry company and vocalist of the office worker rock band PITA. Cho Min-gyu was preparing to study in Europe by taking a master's course at the tenor graduate school, and Go Woo-rim was a third-year undergraduate at the music college. They, who were not related to each other, formed a team through a competition process and made their debut by winning the final.

If you keep reacting to Forestella, it'll be better to know about Immortal Songs. KBS Immortal Songs (I'll say IS) is a kind of remake rendition competition show for legendary musicians. Usually, someone living legend in Korean music is invited and 6~12 teams compete with a rendition of the songs related to the legend. But sometimes there are episodes inviting nobody and having specific themes. Now it's changed a little, the numbers of teams to 5~15. IS diversed the invited artists more like not only living legends but also popular young artists. Each episode has a winner by audiences votes. At each half of the year, there's a King of the Kings episode (I'll say KoK). At the KoK episode, the winners from each episode through the half of the year (and through the year) compete with each other with any cover they choose. So in KoK, no legend is invited. This Bad Romance was for KoK of the first half of 2022. Forestella broke the record of their own by winning it for the 5th time in a row in KoK. The stage was bigger than ever because it was a KoK episode after covid situation officially ended. Usually it was held in KBS hall, much smaller than where this video was filmed. Forestella began to be known to the world with their Bohemian Rhapsody and they have beautiful renditions of Heal the World, Scarborough Fair, We are the Champions, Smooth Criminal, Bad Romance, Despacito, etc. in IS. Actually they are very strong competitors in this kind of music competition shows. They also had awesome performances in Phantom Singer All Stars (I'll say PSAS) in which JTBC invited all the Phantom Singer finalists groups and had competitions among crossover groups from Phantom Singer series. Their Shape of you is a MUST-SEE performance. They sang it in 3 different languages- English, Spanish and isiZulu (one of the African languages) there. And their Time in a bottle, Je suis malade and Inner Universe in PSAS would be also stunning.
