In this spooky, Halloween edition of Gone But Not Forgotten, we're taking you way back to the early nineties, when NBC let Joe Dante (Gremlins) take a chance with perhaps the weirdest and most fondly remembered prime-time kids cult classic of the nineties, "Eerie, Indiana"! Despite running only nineteen episodes, the show has had a strong afterlife, being rebooted (badly) years later, and remaining a cult favorite to us children of the eighties and nineties. Join us as we look back at this unfairly canceled gem and reveal what the future may hold for this vintage TV fave.

As a kid, me and my brother watched this show, and he actually liked it better than me. When it was put into reruns in the late nineties, I watched it again out of curiosity and I loved it. I was able to pick up on more of the satire at the time, and I was had forgotten the darker aspects of the show. Though it mostly silly and quirky, many episodes were darker and more mature than others, the darkest of which were heart on a chain and broken record. Plus there were themes of child neglect/abuse, an episode that features selling your soul to satan, and several episodes where characters were killed or implied to have died. The series has many more layers than you realize.

Though I haven't seen the last episode, but most US kids shows/cartoons just ended. :S I always compare it to "Round the twist" an Australian kids show where they moved to a haunted lighthouse, but only season 1 was any good, But then both remind me of 'Rentaghost' in the UK,, around 1982? about ghosts who are forced to work.

Had to set my beer down when I heard the guy who directed Child's Play produced Wonderfalls. I knew it wasn't true but had to check. You uploaded this twice with bad information if this is really an old Halloween video. Thumbs up.
@RockandrollNegro
@RockandrollNegro Месяц назад
Yeah, that was a pretty glaring error. Todd Holland (The Wizard, Wonderfalls, Malcolm in the Middle) directed one episode of Eerie, Indiana ( _The Broken Record_ ) and Tom Holland (Child's Play, Fright Night) had no involvement with this series. Whoever wrote this script seems to have not put much effort into it.

What's funny is I actually remember seeing the commercials advertising the show more clearly than watching the show itself!
