WTF Happened to JOE PESCI?

Where’s Joe Pesci? That was the question everyone spent most of the 2000’s asking themselves, with the star opting to retire early following his final turn as Leo Getz in LETHAL WEAPON 4. Only returning to the screen for a brief cameo in pal Robert De Niro’s THE GOOD SHEPHERD, Pesci mostly stuck to his guns, other than a brief re-emergence in 2010 to star opposite Helen Mirren in LOVE RANCH.
Of course, Pesci did re-emerge one last time for none other than Martin Scorsese in THE IRISHMAN, resulting in a much deserved best-supporting actor Oscar nomination at the Oscars. He did it “for Marty.” Even still, Pesci didn’t campaign for himself or even show up at the Oscars. He seems perfectly content with a low-key life outside of the limelight. But why opt for retirement when his talent is clearly still in full force?
In this episode of WTF Happened to this Celebrity, we dig into the life of perhaps the most enigmatic movie star of our time. From his humble origins as a character actor to his eventual breakthrough in Raging Bull, to his unlikely superstardom following an Oscar win for GOODFELLAS (for which he gave the shortest acceptance speech on record), HOME ALONE, MY COUSIN VINNY, and his run as Leo Getz in the LETHAL WEAPON franchise, we dig deep into his career. For instance, did you know he cut an album in the nineties AS his character in MY COUSIN VINNY? And most importantly, will Pesci ever come back to acting full-time?
What’s your favorite Joe Pesci role? Let us know in the comments!

The funny thing is he was as far away from a gangster as one can be. You and me are probably more dark than he is, because he really "struggled" or had to work really hard to play those roles because he didn't really like the gangster stuff.

That's because he filmed Home Alone right after finishing Goodfellas so switching roles from an adult gangster drama movie to a family movie that he's not allowed to say the F word was challenging for him. It seems like he had a great time making Goodfellas that the character he plays just stick into him and it's hard for him to let it go

I completely disagree about the irishman. It was an insanely good movie and it was super necessary for his resume, he usually plays very wild or funny characters and sometimes both. But in this film we finally saw an elderly Joe Pecsi playing the strong silent type, with a menacing performance that showed the whole world that he's still got it.

I am amazed to hear Lethal Weapon 3 is the most successful entry. I remember it being really bad, so bad I never saw four and I absolutely loved the first two as a kid.

The Super is incredibly underrated. The box office numbers and critics dont mean a damn thing, how many more "cult classics" is it gonna take to convince people to watch films themselves and ignore the moronic critics?
