WTF Happened To This Unmade Phantasm Sequel? 

I met Angus Scrim at Mad Monster Party 2011. He was intimidating at first, but a very nice man once he spoke. RIP

a reboot won't be the same without Angus Scrim as the tall man. he was such a nice guy outside of the movies. missing him lots.

Not sure anyone could fill Angus Scrimms shoes as the tall man but if they could do it I’d love to see more phantasm

The 1st horror franchise to use multiverse time travel concept , I remember always renting the phantasm movies from 1992-2001 good times (R.I.P) Angus🤙🏼

It’s just such a brilliant concept. On the surface none of it should work, Flying Spheres, Alien Under Taker, Dwarf Robed Henchmen, A Wily Seductress, Interdimensional Time Travel, An Ice Cream Man Hero, An Investigative Kid, etc etc, but damn does he sew it all together in a very interesting and convincing plot. It took them 2 years of filming on the weekends to make it and it’s simply a masterpiece of story telling there will never be anything else quite like it!

It's a shame that The Tall Man doesn't get the recognition that he should get, as far as I'm concerned he's up there with Jason Voorhees, Freddy Krueger and Michael Myers.

It may have been a small role, but it was cool to see Angus Scrim in the first Subspecies!

I read the script that was titled Phantasm 1999. I got chills reading the first half but the second half fell apart. I think it's a great premise and deserved more than the glimpses we saw in Phantasm RaVenger

I do not understand why the "Phantasm" series didn't become much larger. They hit GOLD with "Phantasm 4" and I was rather saddened by what they did with "Phantasm V." I mean I liked it, but what it could have been, was something incredible! Great review!

See, as much as I would love to see more from the Phantasm franchise, I'm not sure anyone could ever really replace Angus Scrimm as "The Tall Man". I mean, I'm definitely open to the possibility, but that worry would always be in the back of my mind.

I met Coscarelli at the AFM. He very politely put up with my fan gushing. I LOVE the first 2 Phantasms. Was hoping the films would go in the direction of what's happening in that other dimension.

I love me some Phantasm. It's one of the few IP that actually scares me a little to this day. But I'd have trouble seeing ANYONE other than Angus Schrim as The Tall Man.

I've loved this movie since I first saw it in 79. It was perfect for it's time and I never tire of watching it and the 4K remaster looks amazing. Phantasm is more than just a movie, it's a feeling. I would entertain the thoughts of a remake of the first film, but only that one and it it was done correctly.

I checked online every year for word on the next phantasm. When Bubba Hotep came out, I was like "Why? Where's Phantasm??" Yes I would be down for this or any continuation to the franchise. But Avery clearly has more invested than Cosgarelli, so he should be involved to breath new life into it.

Would love to have seen a Phantasm/Ash/Re-Animator crossover. Reggie and Ash working side by side with their shotguns. And Herbert West trying to get his potion to undo The Tall Man.

By the time this released soon after graduating high school, I had shrugged off 99% of the kid-scares from movies long ago. For the most part ... all the hype around Exorcist made its afternoon mall theater viewing worse than a haunted house. I only caught a little of the movie but The Tall Man and esp the flying spike balls disturbed me for years. The open castle-like marble masoleums of a nearby cemetary we snuck into were never the same. Brrr! Flashbacks!

If "Phantasm" gets a remake, Stephen Merchant would make a good Tall Man. He's 6ft8in tall, He's a good actor(especially in Logan, even comedy wise,he works) and He's got a creepy smile.

You guys should do a video on the collected or the collector 3. I only just found out they began filming the second sequel just before the pandemic hit and now seems to be abandoned. Love you're videos and would love to see what you guys could dig up on it.🤘

I loved the Phantasm movies. They were a great piece of cosmic horror. The tall man is one of my favorite horror icons.

The day Ravenger released Don called a bunch of people who were phans and I was blessed enough to get a call. I can’t recall how long it was but he spent way more time than I would have expected talking about the movie itself and what would I like to see in a sequel. Really nice guy who seemed happy people just enjoyed his work. Sad to see Angus passed as he made the Tall man.

I read this, but I remember not where: New Line Cinema wanted to make sequel to the original Phantasm and were denied. So they made Freddy Krueger. That's why Tallman and Freddy are so similar.

I was lucky enough to get Angus Scrimm's autograph years ago. It's a staple framed family photo right on the fireplace mantle with the rest of the family photos.

I first saw Phantasm several years ago and was disappointed. After my third attempt to watch the series, I found that it grew on me and now actually like the series.

I remember reading all about Phantasm 1999 (aka Phantasm's End) long ago on the web and losing my mind when they mentioned that Bruce Campbell might be teaming with Reggie Bannister for one last big Phantasm movie. This of course made Phantasm: Ravager all the more disappointing to me. lol

At 6,58: a " prequel " is only a later film which is set before an earlier film. PHANTASM IV could not be a prequel to PHANTASM V, it would be a predecessor which might set up the later film. The entire third act of RAVAGER is mostly unused ideas from the abandoned 1999 project, not just " some references ".

I would love a Phantasm reboot with some money behind it. So much potential that was not able to be achieved with the franchise

Call Phantasm story line "A LITTLE BIT confusing" is the same thing as call Sherlock Holmes "a little smarter than average guy".

To be honest any phantasm movie either a continuation or a reboot aslong as it gives the respect to the original films I really don't care because the og phantasm film series will always be awesome and what also be awesome if they made a series like supernatural but the phantasm universe

"Phantasm III" was a victim of a regime change at Universe. The people that Don Coscarelli worked with (and who had promised him theatrical distribution) had left and the new people didn't care about it at all. Universal put "Phantasm III" into two markets for two weeks -- St. Louis and Baton Rogue -- to honor their contract with Coscarelli, where it was the top-grossing film in both of those markets. But Universal didn't care and decided to make it direct-to-video for wide release. But the movie was exceedingly popular in those two areas, so we have no idea how it would have done had it got a proper theatrical release. It only cost 1.5 million to make and it probably could've made thrice that back easily just as "Phantasm II" had. "Phantasm 1999" is the worst thing that ever happened to Phantasm. It has nothing to do with extending the themes or stories of the previous three films. It's just all about "isn't this cool?!" The script is not very good either. Frankly, the only element of it that is interesting at all is revealing that the Tall Man speaks backwards Vietnamese as his native language. Avery writes the Tall Man like he's writing for Freddy Krueger, having him pop off dumb quips and it just doesn't work. But Don Coscarelli loved this thing and it's why "Phantasm: RaVager" is the way it is--a movie that is completely antithetical to what Phantasm is all about. With Angus Scrimm gone, there should be no attempts at any further Phantasms.

I would’ve enjoyed seeing more of the Red Sky world where the dwarfs are sent through the dimension fork. We never saw much of that. 😢

I would have loved to have seen larger budget sequels in the late 90's and into the 2000's. However, with Angus Scrimm's passing - I wouldn't be as excited for another classic horror movie series "re-imagining".

The titles that followed the first (and possibly the second) film in the series are total garbage and I can only imagine how bad a follow up would look now. Mr Coscarelli - bow out gracefully and leave us with our (happy) memories of a cult classic.

There should be another one but with a bigger budget than the mediocre Ravager. It's seems unlikely anyone would put up the money, though. At least there's comics.

I loved the movies but hated the series because the films were made too far apart. It also didn't help that since they were made too far apart the characters were much older in each film. If they ever make a reboot of the series they should film the movies back to back.

You shouldn't reboot that kind of movie with the old characters in mind. Find a "great" tall guy that could play the Tall Man. But make sure not to make the same mistake as the guy who tried to imitate Robert Englund as Freddy, when "A nightmare on Elm Street" got rebooted. Create a whole new story, using the basic ingredients like the little slaves and that obscure kind of afterlife dimension. Just the basics : have the Tall Man looking for new slaves, while running the local mortuary. The only thing you should not have is : the same situation as in the first original "Phantasm". That's where it gets tricky. Anyways, don't try to make a sequel based on a story that took place in part 4 or 5, which of whom many people forgot anyways. You know what is forgotten? How to make an old type of horror the kind they used to make back in the seventies.

I really hated 5 because it tried to be too much like other movies in the genre and lost its individuality, which is the reason it became a fan favorite in the first place. Mad Max Dawn Of The Dead Cyborg just to name a few.

This series is so wild and weird, so you know fascinating at least to me and it was one of the first sci fi \ HORROR films I saw at to young an age. Lol 🎉🎉🎉 but anyways I would love to see another phantasm movie any time I want to make my brain feel like it needs to question reality, I reach for a whiskey and grab a phantasm

I'm a fan of Phantasm, especially the first 2. I hate to say it, but I think they should've replaced Reggie with a better, bigger named actor that could help carry a movie from Phantasm 2 on. Reggie Bannister was always underwhelming to me.
