Why the hell is ryan and the dude on the right the only actual xbox fans here. This is why people dont like stella. Not because she is a girl but because she is not an actual fan of xbox.
Missed the nail, the biggest gripe is the fact that we waited. We waited and waited. When we finally see the light at the end of the tunnel they say oh you could have been with playstation the entire time and still get these games.
If this happens, Xbox is DEAD. I'm lucky to have all 3, PC, Xbox and PS, but the people who don't and can only buy 1 console, who in their right mind would buy an Xbox ?!, imagine an Xbox fan wanting to play Gears 6, guess what this same guy would like to play FF7 Rebirth and Death Stranding 2, so the obvious choice would be get a PS since you can play all games in there while on Xbox you won't, You can say Microsoft doesn't care about thier box anymore and instead only on their games/gamepass, sure then Xbox will become a game studio only, like EA or Ubisoft, but the console side will die.
Exactly grown men not even considering poverty or single mothers with multiple kids. They can afford it so its like “ we dont care “ this take will make more quit 😅
Sony will not port their games on PC anymore, they will have more costumers on their Plattform, games will be worse because of the leg of competition, no free stuff and more expensive hardware. everyone is going to feel the change.
Not to mention if MS pull out of the hardwood sector like they did with Windows phone, that would give PlayStation a monopoly on consoles. then they can hike up the price of the ps6 to $900 and games to $80 with no issues
@@FoolishDukeDestin will alway focus on the bright side of everything MSFT/xbox does, but always point out the negative aspect of any PS News Destin actually criticized Bungie and their layoffs more than the MSFT layoffs
It's just staggering how out of touch some of the people in podcast are from common xbox gamer. According to their logic, there is no point in having xbox specific podcast or xbox specific community
Yup. Their community is in PC mainly and they buy consoles only for exclusives or game pass. Many people dont have expensive PC tho and prefers console and has put their hard earned money to Xbox ecosystem including buying hundreds of games into the system. If that system goes away and xbox console servers are not supported anymore it affects the long time Xbox users, not the ones who plays only gamepass through xbox or has purchased few exclusives ONLY.
Yup. I'm all for different takes and opinions but what they are saying, even only 10 minutes in to this podcast is absolutely ludicrous! Complete nonsense. Talking about things like "jealousy because others get to play the games you can already play". It's not even close to the issue. Who would ever buy an Xbox? Why would Xbox players buy the next Xbox when they can get Xbox games on Playstation PLUS Playstation games. Exclusives sell consoles - look at the Switch. The conversation on this podcast is so unbelievably nonsense. Never heard a conversation so tone deaf from a dedicated podcast. Wow.
Dude 3rd from left couldn’t possibly miss the point any worse. Nobody is upset others get to play Xbox games. 🤦🏻♂️ The point is why did they invest in a series s/x if they could have simply bought only the competition’s hardware and played EVERYTHING anyway.
Shockingly bad reasoning, lack of understanding, elitism, and gaslighting from some of these panelists on supposedly the best Xbox podcast....not understanding the feeling of betrayal, not understanding how this is terrible for competition, not understanding that many people have limited discretionary income and would have bought a PS5 from the start if they had known both PS5 and Xbox exclusives would be on it, the list goes on.
You all missed the mark. It’s not about jealousy or betrayal. If Xbox games go everywhere, it means: 200M PC players -you no longer need to buy an Xbox. 150M ps players - you no longer need to buy an Xbox. 150M Nintendo players - you no longer need to buy an Xbox. 6-7 billion other people in the world - you don’t need to buy the Xbox. Then no one ever buys an Xbox, 3rd parties don’t bother making games for Xbox. Xbox will not see a need to bring a new generation because no one buys Xbox; Our games get no patches, our games get delisted, we lose our libraries, save files, achievements, and have to start somewhere else.
+ Playstation and Nintendo consoles could be more expensive because there will be less competition. Less competition also means less efforts put into the games made for the remaining consoles.
This benefits everyone but the Xbox console players. PlayStation players get Xbox games, great. Sony isn’t going to reciprocate. If you could play any game anywhere this wouldn’t matter but that isn’t the case and I’m not sure why the folks speaking on these shows haven’t brought it up. Most people buy 1 console and never get a gaming PC. Thank you, MC Fixer!
Sony has been in the business for a long time. They know exactly what's going to happen. Xbox hardware sales will tank even further, and eventually, Microsoft will end hardware production and go full third party. All of those customers will go somewhere, and Sony will want to absorb them.
I’m still baffled by how low-effort this discussion was, and this is supposed to be one of the most high profile Xbox podcasts. So much was left out, ignored, or utterly dismissed. Almost everyone aside from Fixer played it way too safe while most of the conversation just defended Microsoft as a business. To hell with us, apparently.
Xbox telling us wait another week, its bad messaging. People are once again doubting the XBox brand, and damage is being done regardless of what they announce, which is crazy. Xbox was starting to look exciting again..... but now? Really don't know.
Agreed. Unfortunately, this is likely because the rumors are true to some degree, and they are scrambling to figure out how to express it. If true, this will be an abrupt change and bad news. They can't be upbeat & positive, as that would be insulting. They can't be dour, because MS won't like that. Maybe they will use an AI voice. 😄
This podcast has changed. Used to be folks who cared about Xbox. Half of the crew just doesn't care. Toxic allegiance is ridiculous but when you make a choice, you want it to succeed. I'm lucky enough to be able to afford all platforms but not everyone is like that. Still love ya Ryan. You do great work.
IGN is full of employees who play on all consoles. It makes sense for people who cover games for a living. You aren't likely to find a group of partisans for a low-performing console among that crowd.
@@Digdugduggie101these people dont actually play any games apart from battle royales and call of duty. They are literal frauds who can talk in front of a camera
Honestly this was a tough watch. So, Exclusives are only bad when Xbox has them? No one calls for PlayStation to release their games everywhere! If you could only afford one console and you invested into Xbox ecosystem, there is a real possibility that Xbox would leave hardware especially if they go more third party. We have seen it before with Sega, why wouldn’t it happen with Xbox hardware?
PlayStation is a more Premium experience, they Should NOT even have to consider letting outsiders experience their AAAA blockbusters like The Last Or Us and Horizon ZERO DAWN.
@@xjaskix The people who are all of a sudden saying exclusives shouldn’t exist need to shut up then. If they really believe that then that would mean games should be on all platforms, not just Nintendo or PlayStation.
He does. Unfortunately there aren't a lot of xbox people at IGN. With Miranda elevated to a new position within, and Destin's time still occupied with babysitting, and Stella primarily a PC player, Unlocked is left with a bunch of rotating chairs.
The reason people are angry is that most people bought an Xbox because they were told they could play Xbox games exclusively on Xbox and chose to forego their chance to play playstation games in the process. Now they’re being told they could have enjoyed games from both platforms on playstation and their buying choice suddenly makes no sense at all. And the sense of betrayal comes from the fact that they feel like Xbox has laid down arms to playstation by surrendering their exclusives.
Stella also. She has admitted for so long she plays mostly on PC and very clearly doesn't care about Xbox, the console, etc and very often doesn't even play what little exclusive games Xbox has/had.
Really disappointed in the conversation here. As a long time listener, this felt like an opportunity to hear and sympathize with the community’s frustration and instead we get ridiculed because we are upset that Microsoft is choosing profits over value to the consumer. It’s elitist to think that everyone can just buy every console every generation, so when you purchase something it should feel justified. Why do you purchase an iPhone over the Samsung and vice versa? It’s because you like those exclusive features to the software. Honestly please bring better and more thoughtful insights, instead of labeling the community as “toxic”
They don’t know what to say for so long Ryan’s been touting how big Xbox is gonna be year after year and now he looks like Linus waiting for the great pumpkin
So insane to watch Stella and Kahlief downplay this, this IS a huge deal. We could be looking at the beginning of the end of Xbox and they are acting like everything is fine. Thank you to Fixer and Ryan for actually seeing this for what it is. Exclusives do matter, it’s common sense, and the company in 3rd place does not get to decide overnight that they don’t just to fit their business plan. This will not go well for them.
The thing is, company CAN decide when to close shop, especially when they’re Microsoft. The next Xbox MIGHT be a great send off and then we will all still have places to play. Our Xbox libraries will still be playable, it will be okay.
@@GettinGoofybut it might backfire them or more likely xbox gamers. Many people will buy Play Station next gen if Xbox sells out all their exclusives. And its not like console sales has been great for xbox even now and less people buys them less they will sell and eventually they will end the console production all together, and just focus on Game Pass (which they want to put to TVs as well) and producing first party multiplatform games.
Most people who own multiple consoles are just flat out refusing to see this from the perspective of those who only have Xboxes and have invested in that ecosystem for years or even decades at this point.
@@aldoelektrika For now, however that quickly changes when hardware sales continue to decline because what's the point of buying an Xbox when the games are available on Playstation and Nintendo platforms? And at that point, Microsoft will eventually get out of hardware, killing the ecosystem that people invested so much time and money into. You're being real short-sighted here.
The dude in the pink headphones is the definition of shortsighted... so, those things we already own that he talks about are increasingly digital based, and we kinda don't own them. If MS stops making hardware, which is a real possibility in a world where all their games go to PS5, how long until the store we download those things we (don't) own from goes away too? Also, if there is no direct hardware competition for Sony, what stops them from hiking up their prices even more than they are already doing? Seems to me the most likely solution for their "losing money" on the console sale is not to stop making them, it's to charge more for them. Obviously we don't know this is the case yet, but we can't pretend it is not a valid concern
That is a real concern but Xbox games is not making enough money, subscription numbers are not high enough, they have been losing for almost 15 years, and it's up with your wallet and people have. It's a tough situation but what people need to understand is this is a business about making money and not brand loyalty. Game pass only exist because Microsoft was down bad.
Omg, so true. Their competition would then be pc, which is always more expensive. Ugh and they were worried about xbox becoming a monopoly only 6 months ago.
@@superbadisfunmy they made the best points for Microsoft studio. They had nothing from why this benefits xbox. Or to even why still own an Xbox if everything is available on playstation a year later.
We’ve seen Sony when they are top dog doing some of the worst anti consumer behaviour. If the very unlikely scenario of Xbox leaving the hardware side Sony will be doing some really anti consumer behaviour
The thing is, xbox is not the competition keeping Sony in check anyway, considering how far away they are in the race. And also, MS is a company, just like Sony, and so they may care about customers, but they definitely care more about their bottom line.
Xbox hasn’t been a competitor to Sony in well over a decade. Sony is doing their own thing the same way Nintendo has been doing their own thing for a while.
If you only have one console or even own multiple consoles and have bought most of your game library for the Xbox this situation would make you panic. If you have hundreds of games on the Xbox and it sounds like they're moving towards multiplatform, that diminishes the console and the health of the system all of your library is attached to. If Microsoft's next system is cloud only because of this move that means your entire old library can only be streamed from here on out. It seems as though you would have been better off buying a Nintendo or Playstation platform that would eventually get Xbox exclusives. Multiplatform first-party games is the beginning of the end of the game console if you go by the history console video gaming. People have a right to be pissed, and I'm not even a primary Xbox guy. Hopefully this is just a few third parties going to other systems and that's the end of it. If it's Halo or Gears, then it's over.
How has he not gotten a concrete answer to “what got you into the system in the first place” EASY…Halo the XBOX EXCLUSIVE is what got me into the brand in the first place. It would be one thing if Sony was also adding their games to Xbox but it’s not that way only Xbox is bending the knee.
Those of us who stuck to xbox because of the promise of exclusives, feel betrayed because we chose xbox over ps and now only get first party games from xbox. We wonder if we should have bought a PS to get games from both sides.
Anybody who bought an Xbox only has themselves to blame. Trying to convince everyone that gamepass was the way to go. Anybody with a brain could see that it wouldn’t. Games aren’t the same as tv shows and movies.
It's hard to feel sorry for Xbox fans, they accepted and celebrated mediocrity for so many years, Microsoft didn't have to step it up because Xbox fans never demanded it from them.
These people are talking about everything but what matters. If Xbox exclusives go to PlayStation and PlayStation exclusives don’t go to Xbox. Why own a Xbox, just get a PlayStation. Such a waste of a podcast episode.
Bro in the pink headphones started off by essentially dissing gamers and calling them children for caring about this, couldn’t take anything he said after that seriously.
Wild how bad these takes are. No one is mad that more people are playing Xbox games. Xbox games are already available in more places than the console. The issue is around competition. If this news is true, purchasing a PS provides access to all PS exclusives, Xbox games, and third-party. On the other hand, Xbox only offers Xbox games and most third-party games. So, why purchase an Xbox now? If MS no longer cares about selling the console, those who've already bought an Xbox will feel burned b/c they would've had more options had they bought a PS. and stop talking about loyalty as if customers owe it to the company to be loyal. People are going to move to the console that provides the most value. Which will clearly be the PS. So, PS will now face little competition in the console hardware space. This lack of competition could stifle innovation and increase prices on future consoles. Competition benefits everyone.
How sad and funny would that be to see Starfield be 60fps on the PS5 with DLC and updates... Meanwhile Xbox users would be treated as beta testers. This is the future for Xbox.
No one besides Ryan said anything of value. Worst podcast Unlocked in a while, sorry. Other shows had their best episode ever, I've heard so many interesting points of view on this news from other places. So much potential this week, so much we wanted to hear covered and didn't get anything of substance :(
Xbox takes one step forward and 3 steps back. They are literally their own worst enemy. They were lambasted for years for "no exclusives". Now that they finally get some momentum there is a "rumor" that they want to get rid of exclusives. If they do that where is the incentive to play on Xbox? IF this is true, why not just buy a PS and you can get all PS games and Xbox games. Make this make sense Xbox!!??
Somebody tell the dude in the pink headset that just because you use big words, does not mean you make any logical sense. Ryan, we deserve an episode with the OG crew (You, Miranda, Destin, & Stella). Didn’t like the energy of this podcast one bit
The people who own every console and get games for free....are talking about elitism. There is no more Xbox, its now Microsoft Gamepass. Xbox as a brand is dead, the focus now is Microsoft gamepass on some digital box they will release.
Shocker stalla is all for the death of xbox 😒 🙄 who would've guessed 😂 I'm also not shocked this podcast is more for this then not smh. They excited for xbox to go 3rd party basically. Without exclusives xbox consoles will die, without consoles gamepass will die so nobody wins other then ps and Nintendo 🤦🏽🤷
@yabish94 are you slow??? They have let them "win" for generations now lol they don't care they just want money. Xbox going the way of sega is the worse thing for consumers and with this move that's gonna be reality.
Thanks Ryan for making the community heard! Very disappointed by the opening arguments made. The elitism is unbelievably frustrating. Your opinions do not represent Xbox gamers. Read the comments and get a feel for how we actually feel
The people who are talking about why exclusive Doesn't matter and why does it matter if someone else get to play the games , are the same people who baught a ps4 instead of Xbox and bash Xbox for having no games are unique experience to own the console, now they trying to act like they are being level headed while in the back of their head they want to see Xbox die.
MS going third party would be the ending no one saw coming, especially after the whole Activision-Blizzard acquisition drama, court battle with Sony and the opposition from the FTC.
@@DrFreis Yes, the FTC wanted to go after them and Sony provided them one major complaint. The premise was just flimsy and nonsensical; easily torn apart.
Seems like Microsoft didn't think about how every xbox sold is essentially a new Game Pass sub. They lost out on millions of subs by telling people the console doesn't matter.
Gamepass is one of the many reasons why this is happening. The Xbox user base is too small to sustain it. Instead of focusing on increasing hardware sales through a steady stream of high-quality games, they focused on selling a subscription service that ironically led to hardware sales going down even further.
Xbox failed in the most basic rule for a gaming company: Deliver GREAT games, great games sells consoles, consoles sell ecosystems and susbscriptions, in that order, not the opposite
and then you have Phil Spencer saying great games don't sell consoles....his becoming as bad as Don Mattrick....has he not learned what made Nintendo have such staying power...he could have honestly learnt from the company that has been in the console market since the freakin 80s that 40 years of seeing how great games produced by Nintendo made them not go down the Sega and Atari route
For hosts that claim to produce an Xbox podcasts that targets the Xbox community, it does seem like an odd choice for so many to deliberately take up the view that is absolutely in opposition to the way the community seems to pretty unanimously feel. Perhaps a podcast with a more generic audience would be a better fit for their perspective. What is it about this that will send the fans away from the console to which they've been loyal? Why wouldn't we go to ecosystem that is apparently going to allow you to play everything. Why haven't we been listening when Microsoft says they want to let people play things everywhere? Because they've also repeatedly said that they need to better at providing exclusive experiences and promised that they were coming. We shall see how this shakes out but attitudes like, "Microsoft can make more money by selling more services agnostically" is not a perspective that is friendly to their loyal customers who have long awaited the experiences theyve been promising.
Ridiculous stuff folks, people with no spare money are making decisions on what console to buy largely based on exclusivities, we’ve been lied to and now they’re giving up the whole cake. This isn’t about “respect” or “fandoms” grow up
This is how it went down with Sega: console sales for the Dreamcast and especially the Saturn tanks with PlayStation (and Nintendo) overtaking them by a large margin, they stop making consoles and go third party. Sega made some bad choices that led them to where they are now. History continues to repeat itself. Lots of people get to enjoy Sega IPs now, which is great for everyone. As for Xbox, it's a nail in the coffin when it comes to the "Console Wars", giving the "win" to Sony... again.
The annoying thing is if youhave invested in the xbox eco system and everything you own xbox wise goes over to playstation but their games dont come over to yours is a betryal simple has
That's not the logic you should be clinging to. You should be worried about Microsoft not making any more future Xbox hardware endeavors, which would mean that your digital library that you've been accumulating would only be accessible through the cloud or your current console.
Do these guys know its recession and america is getting worst economically ? Their saying “ just buy a pc “ umm what not everyone got 2k$ just to START gaming on pc
Like it baffles my mind no one brought this up, If a mother went and bought a Xbox for their kids this past Christmas who already owned a switch or PlayStation then that mother just Lost 600 plus bucks. That’s the argument here. Microsoft has been the place to be, has been their messaging. Anyone who bought an XBoX This past Christmas or in the last year looses here! We’re not Zealots who are complaining. Were betrayed customers who saved lots of money to buy a Xbox for exclusives like Star Field when we already owned a PlayStation
A bigger question now is, why are we xbox fans? Because of what they did/had several years ago? What have they proven? What are the facts? They have proven they cannot manage a gaming company time and time again. It is a fact that they do not deliver stellar AAA games on a consistent scale. So why are we still here?
Bro who invited this pink earphones sony fanboy? Basically blaming the Xbox community when this is clearly Xbox's f*cking up with unclear or lack of communication, not pampering their users, not keeping their games or a reason to stay on board.
pink headphone guy seems clueless. so he thinks sony would watch xbox leave the hardware space and then CONTINUE to sell at a loss.. after being the sole player left standing in the premium console space?? 😂😂😂 naaah man ps7 gonna cost atleast a grand.
Creating a strawman that is only mad about the fact that others get to play xbox games and not about the actual reasons people are mad is such a bad look. Stella and Khalif are so out of touch.
The major point is that so many of us wasted so much money on a plastic box for 2 generations when all we had to do is just enjoy other stuff. The Series X and S was the biggest waste of money in this gaming industry
Its about 3rd party. Less and less games will go to the platform, even if its just digital. Why would you port your game to a platform that even less people will be in?
