WTF is UP with these Mobile Game Ads?! (Mini-Rant) 

All of these advertisements feel like the fever dreams I've been having for the past week. Thank you cold medicine, never change.

With this, you have given my frustrations voice on the internet.

I used to work for a company with the same idea. The whole idea was to make a game that is "good" enough to be approved by the app store and attract as many downloads via the title and thumbnail, serve the user 1 or 2 ads before they closed it and never opened it again. Then spam the appstore with as much similar games as possible. I imagine this is the same, they wanna attract as many people with controversial ads and then the game itself is garbage. Here's a tip: don't install mobile games ever, they're all garbage. Even the big ones.

Excellent vid. BTW there's apparently a current lawsuit going down for false advertising in a movie trailer. If it goes down in favor of the people suing it could set a good precedent that video games cant do this weird bait and switch stuff.

I have seen the one where the guy slaps his girl across the face, she falls backwards, pees herself, and he’s in a convertible, kissing another girl. Seriously what the fuck is up with these ads?? 😂😂😂 I think it was for the same game

It's so darn ridiculous how those ads never stop especially it's not safe for kids who's under 13 years of age. While ago, whenever I was going out and I saw one kid look like under 13 years of age was playing a game that's so inappropriate and I'm already immediately recognized that because of stupid ads. Like come on, what's up with those strategies so they can get more views from it's competition with not safe for kids?!

I've been waiting for, like, 10 years for the gaming industry, especially the mobile gaming industry, to be regulated. And I'm a game dev! So far, no luck. It's the wild west out there and with 1 in 20 people statistically being either a psychopath or a sociopath, there are way too many people out there who will e-shoot you in the back and take all your money without a care in the world.

This is why my kids are only gonna play violent PC games and even more violent Nintendo games like god intended. No fucking around with any appstores.

When I think about solitaire, I think about interior decoration. And both thoughts lead me to infidelity and abandonment. It's only logical!

I don't see these ads specifically but I do see a lot of mobile game ads for literal hentai games. Which absolutely boggles my mind considering how many talented content creators get screwed over just for swearing too much.

There’s one game ad where an docter smells an patients fart.

The mobile game ads I always see are the ones where you pull pins. Like, there's a knight standing behind a pin, and lava behind another which I think sounds like could be very fun addicting but when you download and play the game it's nothing like that. It's just another typical gacha RPG. Only once have a found a game that was actually a pin pulling game.

ProjectMakeover ads are some of the wildest ones but the game is nothing like the ad

And you know what makes these trash ads even worse? It proves that devs know what would fundamentally make for an entertaining (attention grabbing) game, but it always turns into some time waste infinite micro-transaction grind-fest.

Even after seeing snippets of these advertisements...nope. Nuh uh. I need to purge my neurons. That means watching the Director's Cut of Dances With Wolves, and reading a large portion of a spy thriller novel tomorrow, shortly after I wake up. Now that I think about it a bit more, what sort of fucked up dream would that combination create? Lol... 😂

I played a few of those. I got hooked on house design one, but then I got jealous because I figured out I was helping rich people remodel their home a huge mansion. It is always Candy Crush and I h*te Candy Crush with a passion. Of course there was that fun one with the pull pins, but.. unfortunately, it had Candy Crush in it, to advance. Ugh, I h*te CANDY CRUSH!! Or was that the castle one?

They're targeted. I get similar but from a male perspective, unfaithful wife/gf - you and son kicked out. My favorite mobile ads are when they pay a western looking person to act like they're playing the trailer. Makes me laugh every time.

Then to make any progress, you need to "upgrade" your character with 2000 energy, 666 crystals, 87 bolts, and 49877 rose petals... that you pay with real money. Or tap the square for 100K hours.

Dumb jokes aside, i think you're right, since it's very hard for US apps to make it to China, they don't allow skeletons yet they can pull this stuff off

I know, I don't fully understand it either lol. But if I have to guess I would say with the silly, dramatic or voilent ones, it may be a similar strategy to when companies push the limits of creating something almost offensive for the shock value without going too far because it gets more attention (they always try to push the limits though). There are many examples but one that comes to mind is here in Australia with BCF's slogan "It's BCFing Fun!" With the sexual ads there's an added benifit of appealing to sexual desires so maybe that's why so many of these ads try to be gross or dramatic while sexual at the same time? Idk. And remember that the game company's outsource the ads to cheap companies that know nothing about the games, they are only given certain assets and have to make up the rest (someone correct me on this if I'm wrong). The end result is this mess, but I guess it works because you posted it here and now we all get to see Home Design: Solitaire! 🤣🤣
