There are the GM draws, that are like a boring 0-0 or 1-1 in Football, but this one is like a crazy 4-4 with 2 reds for each side and a goal in stoppage time.

I don't think so. The advantage goes back & forth from W to B to W to B like in early 19th-century games... At 12:03 W can play Nb6+ and Bf4 and win the Black Queen

Meh, passively fianchettoing both bishops and sacrificing pawns for long-term positional compensation is definitely not the way that chess was supposed to be played. Black takes all the credit for making this game as crazy as it was. White was just lucky he came up against a creative opponent, but is himself most certainly just another generic, boring player.

This game was the perfect chance for u to turn the Tabels and let us guess the Elo, cause i would never expect this game to be played between two 2400 ratet players. Missed Opportunity there but okay. NICE VIDEO!

Not sure what Elo I would have guessed. There was no obvious blunders after all, but just very weird development at the start. Probably my guess would have fluctuated with the game, I have no idea where it would have ended. :D

I played white in this game, very happy to see that it has found its way to such a large audience. Thanks for the great commentary!! :) Btw, please realize that large portions were played under immense time pressure (this is where the majority of the opportunities were missed, not to say that I would have found a4 or any of the other moves with more time though)

What really helps with the craziness is how Levy breaks down any tangents that could have happened. Each time this is done, crazy events become even more ludicrous and rare while the game shows off just how expansive the skill gaps can be.

Holy shit, that King on a1 looked like a Shogi kingwalk. (For those who don't know, there's no castling move in Japanese Chess-and most pieces are good at attacking forwards, bad at attacking sidewards. So running your King to the opposite backrank can save a lost position into a draw.)

@Oswald Cobblepot The people you mentioned usually know more than one sport tbh. Also, some pro athletes do know about chess. Take Trent Alexander-Arnold for example. He’s one of the world’s best RB in football right now, and he also plays chess. Dude even played against Magnus once

@@debblez I'm 900 in one time format and I would for sure make a draw here. There's nothing else to do - what are you gonna do - sac your queen for a pawn? The other moves earlier in the game are definitely beyond a 900 though.

I love the Reti because it is a non-commital move that lets you find out what your opponent wants to do before you commit to a particular opening. I think this is why Max played it (of course).

"Nobody will find the move..." Me: finds the move. Lolz. To be fair I figured it had to be check and there were only two checks. Bishop to deflect the king - but I saw nothing after that. Or pawn. If en passent then the rook can now see the king to give a check. It actually seemed like the easiest move to find. :P
