This is the long awaited follow-up video to our first ever WTFeature on the v8 powered Beretta concept car, the Feretta.
In this episode, Feretta owner Tyler Pitman (‪@AutoTechTyler‬ ) gives us the history of the Feretta, breaks-down the engine and transmission details, does a walk-through of the custom body work and interior, and gives us several WOT pulls in that badass sounding, 1-of-1 V8 engine.
Photo gallery and write-up on the Feretta is available on our website at shutterfuel.co...
A special thanks to Tyler for letting us feature his amazing concept Beretta!
What is a WTFeature?:

My first car was a 1990 Beretta GT I bought in May of 1997 when I was 19. Paid $5500 for it, as it had 53,000 miles on it at the time and it was mint. It was this color - dark metallic blue with dark blue interior and the red pinstripe accents and GT badges. 3.1 V6, 3 speed automatic, and fully loaded with every option. It had the window sticker with it too. Stickered for $16,000 with all the options. 15" aluminum honey comb wheels on Goodyear Eagle GT1 tires. I had that car for 2 years and put 40,000 miles on it then had to get rid of it. It had the infamous Beretta/Corsica paint peel/primer wash, the peeling dashboard, the cracked plastic trim around the doors, and it became a terrible rattle box. But I loved it while I had it. And honestly, I'd buy it back today and restore it if I could. For sentimental purposes of course - no Beretta is worth anything except for these rare prototypes. It was pretty fast with the 3.1 V6 and 3 speed automatic. I could only imagine how fast this Feretta is with a V8 and 5 speed stick! Yowza!!

The more I think about it - When this car was built, was around the time the FWD Camaro/Firebird GM80 program was cancelled. I suspect this was a fall back option for a FWD F-Car. My first new car was a 1987 red Beretta GT, Feb 14 1987, one of the first shipments to my area. Since the car was so new to the public, I actually got some people asking me if it was a new Camaro. And this may have been part of the V8 Beretta calculation at the time. As far as the engine and transmission - Since the engine was made (apparently) made by Isuzu, there is most likely some documentation in their (dusty) archives. I'm surprised that we haven't heard anything from a few retired GM engineers about this car. PS - I'd love to see a review of the TT AWD Beretta. :-)

Back in the 1980s when this model came out, I was a poor student who rented an apartment that was owned by the same guy who owns the Chevy dealership in town. Heck of a nice guy, he used to let me drive a Corvette around on my birthday every year. Anyway I remember when the Beretta came out and I used to see the odd GTZ or GTU on the lot. They came with the usual Chevy quality interiors, but the controls were generally laid out well and I thought that the overall design was great. Performance was nice but I always felt that they were capable of much more. Thanks for posting this showing that some guys at Chevy were thinking along the same lines as my desires. Also one of the directors at my company had a Buick Grand National. That doesn't have anything to do with anything, but I loved that car too.

Ok I helped a good friend many years ago, swap an Impala SS V8 fwd train into a Z 34 Lumina. That included an Edlebrock Intake F.I. Setup, custom headers with pipes exiting just before the rear wheels. He also had the trans tweaked and a posi trac differential installed, that surprisingly helped take care of torque steer! The engine was rated I believe 300 hp/340 lbs ft tq stock, that must have gained at least 10%! I will say this, that car came off the line like a scalded cat! Plus fantastic in snow!

Yeah and, if in the Probe, Ford had shoehorned the S.H.O. V6 from the top Taurus in front of the 5-speed, would have been notable yet with a fat dollop on top of torque steer. Possibly later, maybe find room for forced induction as well if a little bay massaging were found to accomodate. That not to knock that the Probe's 4-cylinder turbo debut had some respectable scoot within contemporaneous context. Pontiac had a couple Fiero testbed/mules they were using to explore the same - AWD and turbo charging V6s along with and AWD as well as 4WS/ 4 wheel steering (like Preludes and MX-6s) for improved handling. Also have wondered how coming traction control, newer generations of ABS and, eventually, selective braking for cornering control could have eventually raised these vehicles' performance to next tier.

Owned a 88 GT V6 as my first car. Seen this car in Charlotte at street car takeover, and snapped some pics. Had no idea about the motor until recently. Pretty cool.

I am so happy to see this car getting used. So many of these type of amazing cars are put away and never get the chance to rip down the road. And far too many were crushed.

Sounds good. Gm should have explored this engine design a bit more.
