That exhaust note is absolutely amazing. Isuzu has always engineered one Hell of an engine though, but they seldom get credit for it on our side of the pond
No they didn't, GM V8s were always too barky sounding while the mustangs,5.0 or 4.6 always sounded more like they were tuned properly and a lot meaner sounding even though the GM cars most of the time outperformed them.
I am so Jealous of the owner. I have always wanted this car since I first saw it in a magazine decades ago. From my understanding, this was built to test the engine for the (cancelled) fwd Camaro & Firebird program (GM80). I still wish the original engineering documentation for this car could be found.
Obviously because they never were produced with one. That said, there are a few that have been swapped to V8s by owners, but not many. Couple have even been rear wheel swapped and built. This one was built by GM as a concept. There are several that have been swapped up from a 3.1/3100 to the 3.4/3400, 3500 (pinky), and yes even a couple 3800 beasts, but those required some serious rework to fit in the front. But all were 6 cylinder.
Apparently this is a actual gm concept car. It was built when there was talk of Camaro and firebird going front wheel drive. About 3.5 liters, exact displacement is unknown. Dohc, 32 valves coil on plug ignition.
