This video literally has everything. The absolute bars of method man, the buttery flow of U-God & the comedy of masta killa letting us know crack never got him higher than 5 minutes
Can't believe I listened to this in my parents basement 11 years ago blasting it on my computer. Now I'm chillen in my bedroom with my son still bumping this like it was 11 years ago. Timeless !
+David Rodgers Not far above other MC's, far above the other MC's in this video no doubt, but there is lyricists that would destroy meth, even from Wu-tang like GZA for example, but yea i love meth he is ill, but not above other MC's
They're not really freestyling these off the top (for the most part), it's usually just unreleased verses / verses they wrote for the show, with like filler bars they come up with in the middle and stuff.
freestyle and off the top are different things. Freestyle is a way of rapping, aka you are not making a song you are just rapping the most fire bars you can, no hooks no chorus. Off the top means its not stuff you have written, prepared, or rapped before. Not all in the freestyles is prepared though, sometimes they go off from what they wrote if they think of someting good in tehe moement
This makes me happy. Imagine being in the studio with all of wu Tang clan. East coast will always be my favorite. Method Man is one of my favorite rappers.
Cant believe ive almost been listening to this for a decade man and when i leave it alone for awhile i come back and im just as amazed as the first time i listened to it
Method man AKA, Johnny Blaze AKA, The Panty Raider AKA, Tical AKA, Ticallion Stallion AKA, Hot Nixon is one of the most lyrically gifted artist of all time. Been rocking method man since the beginning and will until I'm dead. KILLER BEES WHERE YOU AT?
Method Man is one of thew greatest of all time in the game. When he is solo he goes off and might seem like he is not Clan style so to speak but he is true and loyal to the core. "Proper education always correct errors." His lyrics when he is on his game are second to none. He is always loyal to his family.
you realize they were all actually freestyling right? they were all using written lyrics. "freestyling" is putting written lyrics in random order (or however it comes to mind) over various random tracks or acapella.."off the top" is something completely different and usually sounds waaay worse or less inspired.
Forreal, he’s not even close to one of my favorite Wu members, but he really owned this video. “The champ is here! Let the cameras glare under the chandelier!”
'there's always room for improvement"......'Gotta be around this music is therapeutic" MINT, TIMELESS ,VOCALS AND VIBES, FREESTYLIN SPITTIN OUT STORIES WITH DEPTH AND HUMOUR
James DuBeck I'm only 20 and I love Wutang, had to find them myself as no one in my family likes the same music as me haha but 80s and 90s hip hop is the best
Word mark chalk my guy west coast say they better than the east coast in rap fuck know they will never touch us in rap i tell all of them out here in the west coast east coast all day
this is what hip hop is missing today......LYRICS!!! I'm 46 years old. Saw this thing when DJ'S was plugging their equipment to the street light and jammin on the block. That's the era that produced these bros. Big respect to J Cole.....he rhymes like he's from my era
Crime scene, coppers and sirens, helicopters and high beams, the tension is rising, fiends keeping they pipe clean, this is what life mean a dollar and a dream everybody wants nice things, the kid was only 19, hole in his chest now he's fighting, for his last breath, he's seen death its frightening, the grip on the ghetto is tightening, you try and do the right thing they do ya just like king. - Dopest method man verse ever
Old school guys like this are legends they don't just feel the beat they got the whole thing deep inside them it comes natural. Always thought Wu Tang keeps the east coast respectable no matter what.
I've watched U Gods part so many times... he is totally embracing the fact that hes a Vet in the game and does it so effortlessly. It's truly like he's on another level, but he's so cool and chill like idgaf I just do this shit for fun.
I love watching this shit, their group dynamic is so authentic they have so much respect for each other. You can almost picture them chillin ina stairwell smokin on a blunt and spittin acapella style geekin out every time someone says some mad shit.
Meth has always been the best out the Wu. He has the lyrics, voice and flow.... But you gotta love how U God freestyle that 2nd beat and made it his own and made it smooth. Each one had their own style. Gotta love it
Hector Diaz yeah definitely props to UGod for being cool smooth and confident and rocking his own shit even tho he wasnt coming lyrically like Meth. and masta kill just sets the mood
I love how the 90s opened up Hip Hop to white people, my friend's dad is white about 43 and trust me he's got the most Wu Tang merch and music i've ever seen from back in the day it's so dope hahahah, fuck rap being for just black people everyone loves it!
im White English and will know more about hiphop than you will ever know, just because you was born black 12 years ago doesnt mean hiphop/rap as you call it belongs to you. All inner city people can relate from London to the Poison Apple!
Aye I understand why some would feel like that though. The soul of hip hop mostly came from what black Americans went through in the 20th century, like jazz etc.. Really though, rap has existed in Africa when people used to sit around a fire and tell stories. It's more than just music
AYOOOO!!! Dis a breath of fresh air!! I love the Wu and it dont get no better then that freestyle Meth blessed us with... And for all you young bucks... Thats how you spit that fiya! The man is a LEGEND! Stay up Stay killin the game yall!!! Shout out to Wu Tang Clan.. The Shaolin Style rains supreme!!!
I must be getting old, cause this shit is getting better and better as the years go on. Love this music, artists these days do what gets views and clicks, the music i grew up on was music that flowed for your ears and was something people got together to hear different styles. We live in a sell out environment nowadays.
