On the they/ them debate it makes communication more specific and that's the problem. Usually you establish a subject, say wubby, then say they/them he/him or she/her until a new subject is established that needs that pronoun. When a person's pronouns are they/them the subject fills all 3 subject lines that need to be replaced every time a subject is changed. If Alluxx and Wubby are both they/them and I try to talk about them both as subjects you don't know if I'm talking about a single person, which one, or of its both when I say they. Instead you are forced to use names in place of pronouns and they as a collective. You will likely need to list what subjects are in conversation however because some will still be confused if you say they. So it forces you to be more specific with your language on what/who are the subjects of discussion.
