@lolrollerlol Steel doesn't just rust. It requires moisture to oxidize. More likely that the packaging is bad. My pre-used comment is because they could shipping out returned knives after already being used 🙄
@LargeMic it would have exposure to oxygen from the moment it's forged.... only way to prevent that is with a surface coating of oil after its manufactured. And it's mainly the imperfections in the steel that rusts, meaning the grains of iron thats mixed with the nickle chromium to make the stainless. Most steel has certain % ratios of other metals, and some low quality batches have less quality control over how accurate the stainless was made. Material science, the knives aren't rusting due to "being used or shitty packaging" it's because of the poor quality steel with too much iron in it.
