canada had some trashy play. no spirit. japan played that one with honor and spirit and deserved the win. good showing.

At 33:40, he couldn't get the goal so he makes up some excuse for a foul. Not to mention his big time travel on the wrong pivot foot. I'm glad Canada couldn't score

Just watch point 17 of this game and you'll get the gist of it. (Starts at 31:25) That said, here's all the contact and unsportsmanlike conduct. The worst include an asterisk. *4:50, first major contact. Only the second point. *11:11, guys in bottom right of screen (Japan #29) shoving each other a lot. Ends in each shoving the other. 12:24, nothing crazy... 12:36, WTF is that Japanese mark doing hugging the thrower on the very next possession... 15:49, The marking has been very tight so far this game and Japan foul here 16:43, ?... very minor 17:39 18:52 20:07, Japan marker fouls 20:30, Japan marker fouls. Also lots of contact on the ensuing look. watch closely at 28:51 as morgan hibbert's defensive bid sends him careening into the only player on his team who might actually have had a play on the disc. It's funny.

33:39 canadian traveled to throw it, gets no contact at ALL, then calls a foul for his shit throw? cheating at its best

33:48 is a fucking bullshit call it was a legit turn over.

Kudos to ulti TV for camera work - the video is shot from the middle of the field, you can see most of the action from thrower to cutter, and the camera zooms in when appropriate.

I'm Canadian and I didn't like what the Canadians did after scored a goal. Scream at the face of another player, no respect, jump on another player for no reason. I'm happy that Japan won the game. Sorry if I made some mistakes.

As an American I didn't have allegiance to either team, but by the end, I couldn't help but root for Japan. Or against Canada, more precisely. Just flat out dirty playing by the Canucks, and complete lack of sportsmanship in the foul calls. Shameful.

Literally the worst part was at 47:00 when the #9 clearly bids into the back of the Japanese player, injures him, then proceeds to joke and rip the disc away as though it's okay.

You can tell the commentator who keeps getting talked over isn’t pleased with the egregious intentional fouls and disgusting sportsmanship of the Canadian players, but the other blabber mouth is so thrilled and excited by it he can’t get a word in.

Canada's pullers were line fowling like crazy... were there not observers there? Or did it not really matter? They also traveled often too. I'm surprised not more was called

Watching 1:06:00 then 1:20:30 is sooooooooo satisfying. As a Canadian I am appalled that some of these boys represented our nation. Glad Japan won and hopefully the bad apples watched this game back and grew in character afterwards

Im here in 2019, and let me tell you. That was the most unsportsmanlike game I have ever watched. The canadians were cussing on the field after fouls were called on them. That is terrible. They have no right to act rude like that espeically when they were traveling more times than I could count. Shame on the canadians who played with bad sportsmanship in this game. Im proud of the Japanese for playing with honor and good spirit

Team Canada should watch this and reflect. That's just shameful sportsmanship on the field.

I think where it all started to go downhill was at 11:18. That little bit of chippiness in the middle of the field probably caused some resentment from the Canadians, and they started to get fired up which resulted in quick turnovers on both sides

I hate to say it but as a Canadian ultimate player I'm glad we lost this game, we didn't deserve to win because our spirit was so awful.

Not sure if Stefan (commentator) was really meaning that it was a "nice bid" we were pulling 19 hour days to get all the footage... so we blame lack of sleep.....

Even if the final score had been 17 - 8 Canada, Japan would have won that game. I would be embarrassed to play with Hibbert after a game like that.

Ultimate is technically non-contact but in practice there is some contact that is okay in certain situations. For example a some contact happens when a handler tries to go up-line and the dump defender holds his ground. If two people go up for a disc and the defender gets the disc first a little contact is made after then most teams say good D However Ultimate is certainly a non-tackle sport

God, I can't help but comment on how disgraceful the Canadian team conducted themselves. Absolute disgrace to the beautiful game of ultimate.

First of all, yes he travelled (once), sure. Second: That's an incredibly tiny, tiny thing to point out in the context of this game. Massive fouls, incredibly bad spirit and LOTS of travels by Canada that are way worse than this (look at the throw to Seraglia at 27:42).

I believe it is a pick call before the throw by a Canadian player on the front of the end zone line.

not to mention the shout of "bring the mother f*ing disc back" at about 00:40:00

One of the worst cases of one-sided bad spirit I have ever seen! I have seen Canadian teams pull that crap before but it was usually equally bad spirit by both teams. This was just embarrassing to ultimate players in general and sadly reflects poorly on Canada.

Embarrassed to be a Canadian ulty player after watching some of the actions taken by our players here. Japan showing great spirit and true enjoyment of the game over anything else, and Canada just making a mockery of a spirit-based game. Poor showing for sure.

33:39 - terrible call. Guy never touched him. Blatant cheating. I don't know who the captain or coach of Canada is, but someone should tell them that tackling and cheating aren't part of the game. Worst spirited team I've ever seen.

It came in on stalling 6 after the foul. 6 + 3.4 = 9.4 = a reasonable stall count

I hope you're just talking about the team and not the sport. This is a perfect example of why I enjoy Mixed teams and tournaments so so much. The true camaraderie, friendliness, and most of all Spirit of the Game is leagues above Open competition. Also the lack of spiked discs is awesome.

Whats funny is that even though the canadian player traveled, (like the annoucer said), he continued to pass it when there than was an interception by japan = japan possesion, maybe you shouldn't have thrown it like a fool. I garuntee if the canadian player caught it and there wasn't a turn of possession you would've said nothing of your obvious travel foul. Worst sportsmanship I've ever seen....

I watched the play at 32:45 five times and I could not figure out what the call was. All the tackling could have been avoided in this point if Canada hadn't made a BS call here.

well... let's just look at the rule book, then! from the USAU website--"Ultimate stresses sportsmanship and fair play. Competitive play is encouraged, but never at the expense of respect between players, adherence to the rules, and the basic joy of play." if you want different rules, find a different sport. because this is written out incredibly clearly

It is games like this that show why North American Ultimate needs observors ... on that note, the necessity for observers is what is killing our sport. A game like this should be reviewed by WFDF and sanctions should be handed out. For a game like this Canada should be fined as an ultimate nation

What a douche Seraglia is. Nice job spiking the disc at the defender after you score and then needing teammates to pull you away from yelling at him. There's no excuse for that and the "apology" from their team was lamer than their play. Disgraceful play by the team and worse that it was done by their captains. It'll be a long time before I cheer for FG again. This coming from a Vancouverite.

Technically, you're correct! The Japanese player should have called injury and even if he could play again, take a minute to make sure he was ok. HOWEVER, the manner in which #9 conducted himself AND the horrendous "bid" he made before hand are morally wrong. No apology, no hint of respect, just a "Stop being a pussy and get up or get off the field" kind of attitude! The Japanese player's un-spirited behaviour is utterly blown away by the disgrace of a Furious player!

Gotta say, I am a little disappointed to be represented by such bad sportsmanship. However, I am pretty sure Toronto Rush will represent Canada well in the AUDL. A lot of the guys on toronto rush are from my university and theyre great guys.

at 16:00 the Canadian handler throws a huck right when play comes back in. Is that considered bad spirit? Because I doubt the defender was aware that play had started.

I watched until 8 - 8 and had to stop... Canada playing like a bunch of douchebags. Tackling, undercutting players, phantom fouls, taunting- You'd think they were playing basketball down the street...
