well, i know what kuro best at. That's an improvement over time. PGR is just getting better and better than the first time I played the game. Hope so for this game
Honestly, the only review I was interested in hearing was yours. I appreciate your input very much. And since Kuro has developed a reputation for listening the community, I have a good feeling they'll keep their ears open when it comes to consider objective criticism for making a better game, specially from veteran PGR players. Very glad to hear the combat is still the strongest point. I also liked that you said how a character quest helped you get more attached to the character. Thanks for your opinions and videos, they are very important for the community. Wish you are feeling great Spider!
Means a lot. Kuro's track record with PGR is pretty good and I wouldn't be playing PGR for over 3 years if it was constantly being optimized and updated so I have hope for WuWa.
Recently they did some changes, and I think they will improve some other things related to the open world (like the amount of enemies and things to explore)
Generally same sentiments as your review after trying out the CBT2 (have not played CBT1). Feels that Kuro is trying very hard to prolong replayability by making the echo system very grindy. Although the battles and movement look awesome on PC, it is lackluster on mobile that I would say PGR looks better. Story has nothing to shout about and some characters are kinda forgetable, which makes Scar's presence much more entertaining. As for gacha, simply cant imagine a F2P offrate a new character at launch with the credits painstakingly saved In short, I am disappointed after all the hype and will just spend my time and money on PGR, if the issues aren't changed for the better. While playing, I kept thinking "Can I just join Scar and his plan? Maybe it will be more fun" XD
yeah the true endgame content named "echo" systems, or gear or memories whatever it is. too many rng parts and it could go on the way that they won't fix it, but just giving nee currency to reroll the rng parts like what counterside did
Bruv I think the same.... About scar ofc 😂😂😂. I also think later in the story there might be an option where we should choose our side... Scar or the ones we've been with since the beginning... I know this sounds hella weird but, if it were implemented, it would be crazy
14:22 i must say that I disagree with this statement here you will need good gear because the game hard content is timer based so you need a baseline amount of dps that will increase over the game life span And from what I have seen from the amount of rng the echo system has from amount of substats and how vast the difference between a low substat and a high substat like for example cd can be as low as 7% or high as 25% so my question here how many hours or how many worlds do i need to farm per day to have a similar result to what for example I will get from farming 10 minutes a day in genshin also not having off pieces will make it so that when a new echo set is released you will need to start farming from the beginning I quit hsr because of this particular issue One other problem about not having off pieces is that echoes are both your gear and a part of the skill set a character can have but because ww has no off pieces will make it so you'll have to choose between using a set or using an echo as an ability when they release a new set that is just better you'll not be able to use the ability part of an old echo because it's not in the new set and that echo is now part of a power crept set I think having off pieces is the most important change that should happen in the release version of the game and i must say having off pieces is the best part about genshin gear system because I'm still using artifacts that i got in 1.x to this day as an off piece even though the set bonus got power crept for example i have a 49 cv electro goblet with er on the maiden set and the maiden set got power crept not once but twice with clam and song of days past sets but i can still off piece the goblet on my electro characters very easily I'm sorry for yapping this much but the current way the echo system is implemented is really killing my hype for this game which otherwise is doing a lot of things very well
dw, nobody who cares about the game is defending the current echo system. At its current state it'll kill a good amount of the hype people had for it. Like, complaining about RNG substats/artifacts is the nearly the no.1 thing people do with Hoyo games. With WW, even our top content creators in the community hate it (Rex included), and some of them have a direct feedback line to Kuro. Not to mention CN players are very critical about these things. Back in PGR's early, CBT days, memories used to be gacha only until they complained super hard. Kuro listened, and it's very likely they'll listen again. So yeah, let them cook the system just a lil' bit more.
No these are very good points, I also agree having a off piece be available is nice. The game overall is pretty fun and worth playing imo but echo system will probably get changed due to the feedback.
Thank you for the vid ❤. If they stick with some rng layers I hope they at least make the Tacet Field echoes more like pgr’s style so they only need 1 TF instead of many. For instance run the 1-8 fights and instead of random echo drops reward an “echo remnant” currency. Then similar to pgr go to a shop in any main city and they’ll synthesize the remnants. Use “X” amount for random echo in a set, “Y” for a specific echo, and “Z” for echo+main stat. Maybe dupe echoes could reroll a sub randomly and a dupe + tuner could reroll the value of a selected sub. Perhaps a super tuner from events that maxes a sub stat’s value guaranteed like memory usbs. Preferably they go back and twist the memory system in pgr to function in WuWa. While memories are a little rigid you still at least shift builds around depending on content. While these rng systems almost always lock you into 1 build forever, worse a “rainbow” build because the player just gives up, and worst players quit and use that system as a negative. Idk about you, but I have almost never seen memories super negatively brought up by people who gave pgr a fair chance and quit. I feel that’s the issue. No one ever said copy pgr 1:1, but there’s a number of implementation of things in PGR if they had modified to work in WuWa I feel a majority of things would feel in a better place. I heard CN also heavily complained about the current echo direction for gearing like us so best we can hope is they come up with a good solution.
I really dislike how much they leaned into copying Genshin. And no, this isn't some another idiotic "omg BoTW copy!!!" comment. I just genuinely think that this isn't a good decision. Genshin is HUGE and even then all they can do is just release more map, story and do minigames. WW will not beat it in those categories. It should have been aiming for players that gave up on Genshin, not trying to attract the same people. They could have focused on things that Genshin fumbled on so having good coop content, some good endgame with raids and stuff like that, leaned into the combat hard etc. Meanwhile not only did they copy the same issues that Genshin had but even made some of them worse. It's a shame cause it really doesn't seem like a game for people disappointed with Genshin.
Yeah currently it seems to be having some identity issues, trying too hard to copy genshin's formula in every way possible. I love genshin, but ain't no way I'm playing the same game twice, It definitely should be leaning more on it's unique features, loved the dark dystopian world from the cbt1 but now half of the game looks straight out of genshin, as well as the story still being mid is very disappointing because it is one of the main reasons I personally decide to stick to a game..
Yeah, it seems like they're trying to play more into the things that made Genshin into what it is instead of their own strengths which is the combat-centric gameplay.
they found a way to make a gear system that is even worse than hsr and Genshin, BUT I believe in Kuro, Im almost certain that they ganna shift the system completely
I mean, it's worse if you want to get perfect artifacts, cuz you dont need great substats to do all the content in Wuwa, you just need good main substats and ok subs.
Was really looking forward to WW, but that echo grind seems daunting. I really enjoyed Genshin and Star Rail, but the artifact/relic grind made me quit. Grinding for multiple months to just get one set "complete", while having a backlog of characters that still needed sets....
ye, people shit on genshin for having meh endgame but in reality even if they had the endgame people wanted its still gonna get offset by its worst feature: the artifact system. in fact that would make the experience worse than what we have right now. imagine WANTING and NEEDING perfect artifacts.
No.... I feel like Spidre is slowly starting to take HSR into the picture. It was supposed to be the improvement and comparison between Genshin. But Hoyoverse has already perfected their lineups with every game, Kuro now have to face the HSR allegations along with Genshin clone as a starting point. This game will never beat those allegations. We're cooking up to a failed recipe
The only thing that will make or break wuthering waves is how good is it as a game . I hate turn based combat anyway , and spider has a proven record of making balanced and sound opinions on important subjects related to the games he plays @Noobster474
@@midwestairway I doubt Wuthering will make it. The odds are stacking against Kurogames. Even PGR itself is getting the fire and being burned on Twitter. Apparently, they have been neglecting the story so much that even Twitter peole posted hate tweet about the Bridget chapter
The 'artifact' system sounds like an absolute nightmare. There's no chance I'm going to be dropping GI for WW long term if the gearing system is that bad. Game can't be as stingy as Genshin Impact with the pulls too; especially since, I get the impression that the expectation is that you will be pulling character weapons too. Someone tell the developers making a worse version of Genshin Impact isn't going to draw in players long term no matter how many walls you can run up. Playing one of these live service gacha games long term is like getting married and they need to be decent partners.
i mean can't blame them the recipe is there and proven to work, so many ppl play genshin still. whether they'll jump ship or not that's up to the waves
@@hermanwillem7057 Dont forget that most Genshin players are very casual. Those players wont be attractacted by the combat system. If nothing else provides any upgrade, people will not switch the game. Casuals also dont play multiple of such games. They really need to provide something better than Genshin or its not gonna bring more money than PGR does.
@@Cloudo4 Yeah, casual players are already complaining about the artifact system, and sometimes the free gacha currency. I doubt doubling down on those would yeild better results
THANK YOU FOR MENTIONING WARFRAME. I havent experienced such insane parkour like Warframes to this day. Ive used a Speed Volt and since i memorized the map layouts i just bolt like the flash ending Capture missions in less than 2 minutes.
First time seeing your channel (I don’t play PGR) but it was super cool to see your points.. I didn’t think the echo system was THATT bad holy.. even though I had seen some other cc talking abt it. They didn’t go as in depth as you
Guys, KURO is following the same path as TOF, they focusing more on the optimisation for PC than mobile. I saw many mobile gameplay and this is not great as PGR, which can run on even low level smartphones (4 gb ram). *@Rexlen* , please talk with them about it. Kuro used to make game for mobile. But since they opened the pc client for PGR, they seem to give up on us 😢. I feel betrayed 💔, I even bought a new phone for it.
I neeeeeeeed this to come out public like asap!! At least we know it’ll be before october Edit: just saw a video abt release dates. The most likely (but still speculative) is may 30th. Way earlier than I thought. Hope it’s tute
@@Spider2B yeah, like the translations sure need to be fixed. May 30th may be a bit to early but it will definitely be sometime before September or august I feel like.
i hope whatever they do to the echo system please for the love of god keep the open world drops. it's such an amazing way to incentivise players to retread steps in the world (genshin, and honestly most other open world games, for example gives 0 motivation to re-explore once completed for the first time). also this would even be fun if the movement is as enjoyable as people say it is (i didn't get in to the cbt so i wouldn't know myself :(. )
Im def gonna play this when it comes out. Tho knowing pgr, the gacha for wuwa is disappointing and the echo gacha seems horrible. I already hate the artifacts in genshin and this doesnt improve on it at all. I dunno how long ill last if it stays this way.
It's starting to look really good! I hope it does well and can be worth playing long-term. I mainly love Kuro 's style of visuals and gameplay. I tried Genshin and couldn't stand it. I love PGR but not reading the story novel style. So this game could be huge for me
I hope they won't go pgr gen2 unit route in the future. They are cool but they have way too much and some of their effect is too distracting preventing me to see enemy attack.
An unpopular opinion: I really liked the idea of Concerto Effects, but hated CBT1’s execution. I thought that in CBT2 Intro and Outro skills would be kit specific and just basic damage, but they would serve as a way for concerto effects to be activated. I also wanted them to change the way it worked. Instead of being element specific, I wanted it to be element- oriented? E.g) instead of Duet being an effect exclusive to Havoc and Spectro, Duet is when attributes opposing each other (Specto/Havoc, Glacio/Fusion, Aero/Electro) are launched via QTE. This would decrease the enemies resistance to the attribute that activated their into skill. So Outro skills would be passive activations of Intro skills applying debuffs to enemies or buffs to themselves. Instead of splitting them up into different types of buffs, they could’ve been things like DOT, stun, energy regen and sustainability and what not. The only Concerto Effect that would stay the same for me is Unison. It’s chic. It’s simple and it kinda runs with what I’m getting at
Dont think im playing ww cause i just started playing pgr and im so into it, besides i feel my potato pc wont be able to run it. ww looks great tho, i think they will do great cause theres no competition, like the only one is ToF thats super dead.
and Genshin too...tbh the only ones competing for this kind of genre is GI and WuWa and yhat is a good thing because if GI keeps monopolizing the genre...GI's quality will drop too
The Echo gear system alone means I won't be playing this game. I stopped playing Genshin because of it's time-wasting Relic grind system, HSR gets a free pass because I don't have to play the grind but even there it's awful. Would much rather a gear system closer to PGR or HI3 (Yes, I would rather pay a fixed rate of premium currency to get guaranteed gear rather than grind for indeterminate rewards).
Haven't played the game yet. But if they manage to give us a soundtrack on par with Genshin, this game will consume my time like nothing else. Genshin's music is probably the best soundtrack I've heard in decades. Apart from the music, this game looks amazing....can't wait! Combat looks WAY better than Genshin!
design, story and QoL is what make it or break it for me since gameplay is guaranteed already. char design wise it's still nowhere near pgr lvl whether in details or aesthetic in general, only sanhua/danjin and yinlin so far that is decent for me at least. world design? decent could be more and ofc expansion existed. design as whole i appreciate that they blend some more realism element than just straight up cel shading it to appeal to "market" which just fcking saturated anime-esque style. detailed design >> cel shading for the sake of anime, that's why Endfield won me a lot in that regards story? it takes 8 chapter or more for pgr to get good so I'll give some lenient on that but for now nothing really worth writing home about and gear/memory system suck ofc. and the theme is the same as always, we farm by beating enemies and stages. that's the predetermined outcome considering lore and everything, that's why thank GOD Endfield had a whole factory to produce mats and even create those memories for us, praise industrialization, praise free market
I put around 17 hrs into the CBT2 and quit afterwards bc I honestly did not enjoy playing WW. While I liked the combat, they just copied so many systems over from genshin and not necessarily the good ones. While I'm aware it's a beta, the overall presentation was also lacking. Also after hearing from friends how bad the endgame was it made me not want to continue playing as well.
I can’t believe they copied daily commissions XD, like yeah the first time you do them it’s a fun little quest and some even have progression, but I still like star rails way more where you get one a day and it’s optional to get your daily rewards but you get more money if you do the quest Like seriously after 3 months who liked daily commissions in genshin???
yeah i didnt expect to see this outcome, echo system became something that even worse than hoyo's relic/artifact systems. That was not hot take at all, Kuro need to take the critisism seriously and fix it immediately.
If in genshin/star rail can make me farm for 6 months/1 year to get full perfect artifacts…. This game can make me farm for 2/5 years if they not simplifying that echo system
wale opinion it always is that worst they only care abut op character not balance of character and game look to other game here mine need balance of character and no power creep need in balance like genshin in there character
hopefully they will fix the echo system. It actually looks like RNG hell. Kinda funny though, first impressions some people were saying "OMG you can farm echoes without using stamina. very F2P friendly". I was already doubting those statements, its better to be a skeptic than naively riding the "hype" or just immediately assuming things, but boy were those first impressions so wrong 🤣.
Seeing they're still copying Genshin's gatcha system is SUPER disappointing. Unless the dailies award like 2-4 pulls a day this game's going to be a skip for me. I ain't interested in playing "Farm 3 months and lose the 50/50" again. Yeah nope. No thanks.
@@ProkerKusaka Which is why they need to change the system because it's a downgrade in every possible way. It makes the F2P experience extremely painful
Look at Genshin revenues And look at PGR revenues You have your answers Also, is PGR an open world? Or perhaps you would prefer having a 100% rate up but with half free currency? (spoiler: you mathematically don't want that)
first of all, KURO have no time to fix all of your suggestions, they will discuss what to fix until its release (30 May), KURO haven't much time to put every suggestions from content creators, if THEY done it, then I and every single HOYOVERSE player will APPRECIATE and blow up with its release
Super disappointed hearing Wuthering Wave's story still being an exposition dump. I get very turned off when PGR throws unsubstantiated random techno babble and I was hoping that was one aspect they would improve on. I wonder if they kept the same writer after deciding to rewrite the plot. If so, that's a pretty big mistake imho. Keeping the plot simple and concise with some strong relatable conflict is much better than giving a convoluted verbose mess that comes off as pretentiously sophisticated.
Well, I have to admit that I'm disappointed with what I saw on CBT2. Especially the character design, but don't get me wrong, character design is ok, but nothing special compared to Genshin or HSR. PGR has a certain character design that sets it apart from other gacha games in a positive way, but WW visually feels like another Mihoyo game. And problem is that this is a gacha game and I should want to pay money for characters, but looking at WW characters I don't have that desire and what's sad is that I don't even want to invest my time in this game. But I want to wish Kuro financial success because it could affect PGR.
Man, echo system is garbage. Prob the reason I don't wanna play the game, hope they change for smth better. GI and HSR is better on that this one, even tho they are shit also. I hate this kind of progression system that makes it seem like you're just wasting time playing every day. Taking months to get something is shit. It's not enough that you have to have to play "Chances", just to get the characters (Even if you pay), now in the Gacha games, developers even make you suffer with a chance to equip characters. Bluh, this kind if game style is really dying for me.
as this point, the best u can expect its a banner per month, instead of the 2 banner per patch like genshin. U wont be able to get all character but at least a lot of them.
1:30 "I prefer show don't tell". Man you must hate genshin then xD. The game always tell multiple times like We're some todler. Really infuriating. Hope this game doesn't do that. The rest seems to tier (combat, art direction, animations, etc).
Echo system is fine compared to genshin artifact domain, i know it have lots of RNG layers but once you get used on min-max status you will enjoy it more than repeating same domain for thousands time. 😂
Why every gacha I want to play has this stupid 50/50 sh*t. This is one of the main reasons I stopped playing Genshin... And 100% rates on a debut banner in PGR is the reason I put my irl money in it. Meeh :/
Keep that shallowness to yourself dude....Think about it more carefully...PGR is an ARPG and WuWa is an OpenWorld, what game do you think needs a bigger budget? PGR doesn't have Voice Acted story but WuWa has that even to the NPCs They can't 100% guarantee any characters because they will immediately go bankrupt due to that...The most generous Kuro can do is give 5* selectors or make the rates 60~70/40~30...but the weapon banner is already 100% guaranteed so there is that
@@CoFF3e_Man While this is true I think they need to lower pity a tiny bit and increase open world rewards as well. Right now the F2P experience is painful
If the gacha is really like Genshin and HSR and not like PGR, the chances even trying it decreases drastically for me. The gacha is one of the reasons i dropped Genshin and love PGR and throw my money at them. Kuro please! You don't need to be the moneygrab like Honkaiverse. If someone wants a character give it to them in a pity like PGR and they will more willingly use their money, because they know, they get what they want. My opinion. You Traitor! The Background music is Honkai Star Rail - Space Walk - Herta Space Station. O.O ;) I recognized it, because i tried the game for a week and didn't liked it. I was expecting this, but i wanted to give it try because everyone loved it. Turn-based-combat? It's 2024!
Space walk bgm just goes too well with commentary haha. I agree tho i wish Kuro went the route of PGR, heck id take 70-30 or 80-20 odds for the banner over 50-50.
