WW2 In America : I Almost Ran Over A WW2 Anti-Tank Mine

Today I set out to explore in depth the Palen Pass maneuver in the Mojave desert of California on my Yamaha 225XT. As I traveled along, I nearly ran over a WW2 practice anti-tank landmine that had recently become uncovered in the middle of the roadway. I had found these before out there but was quite amused to witness one that had been laid in a roadway minefield over 80 years ago and was still in-situ. I did move it out of the roadway as I feared it might cause a truck to get a flat tire. I also chase a dust devil a little later for the halibut an do some other stuff.
About Aquachigger:
I enjoy metal detecting for historical items like gold coins, relics, silver coins, and other buried treasures. I also metal detect for gold and silver nuggets and even meteorites. I like to make videos that promote my choice of lifestyle that includes outdoor adventure,
metal detecting, yapping, searching for river treasure, SCUBA diving, exploring abandoned places, hiking, caving, caring for animals and pets, and observing the things outdoors that often go unnoticed by most people who are not familiar with outdoor adventures and nature. I keep my RU-vid "Aquachigger" channel family-friendly and hope you subscribe if you like my style.
BTW, you can also catch me here, / chiggsarmy ,but I may get a little edgier there. FB isn't a place for kids anyway...lol.

The trails going up and down the hill sides were 1950's "miners" salvaging old desert varnished rocks for home landscaping projects. Palen Pass was mined for gypsum, like at nearby Midland. At 15:05, that is a mine safety clip.

That was indeed a fishing arrow head chigger… my dad and I would go bow fishing all the time. It’s a lot of fun… I’m not sure what it’s doing way out there, there must be a spring, canal or reservoir, maybe pond somewhere around there within 40 miles give or take lol…. My dad was a master fisherman and he took his fishing seriously and always to the limit. So sometimes we’d drive for 3 or 4 hours sometimes more just to get to a good spot. Like the golden spike (the last spike of the transcontinental railroad), locomotive springs… where the Central Pacific and union Pacific would stop to fill the trains with water for the steam engines… It was a natural spring full of all sorts of fish, then there’s promontory point, strawberry reservoir, flaming gorge, bear lake, south fork and so many others lol… lots of good times, fishing with Pop’s, nature, historical sites and pork and beans out of a can, Right up your alley lol… Love your channel, keep up the good work…

Speaking of anti-tank mines, you are the perfect person to ask about this. In the U.K., they're (magnet fishers) still pulling hand Grenades( mills 💣) and other LIVE unexploded weapons from WW 2 out of the rivers/ponds/lakes. These guys, especially the channel I watch "Northants" Magnet Fishing will not only unceremoniously "yank" the bomb off the magnet, but hand it back & forth each turning it over and pointing at different areas discussing how "live" it STILL is. Aren't these old, rusty, corroded ordinance famously unstable? Especially once they are removed from the water? Lastly, if they find the bombs at the beginning of the day, they put them ( all) to the side, & call the police hours later....🙄😳🙏sheesh.
