As much as i like these gorgeous cutscenes, i prefer the old way where its just your character in first person listening and seeing the cutscenes in real time.
They really need to Remaster or Remake the Very first Call of Duty, because some of the Levels on the CoD 1 are very good and Memorable Especially the Volga River Crossing, imagine it with this Graphics
They need to remake Big Red One. This game was supposed to be a spin off of COD2 for the older gen consoles but ended up better than the original game lmao. The story + characters were the best in all WW2 shooters I played during the PS2 era.
@@nathandurrence134 I was gonna say that too but if you watch it closely, you can see that he does have a bayonet fixed when he stabs him. Then it gets stuck in the paratrooper while pulling his rifle back.
“Who does the Army trust the most? Airborne! Who does the ladies love the most? Airborne! Who does the Nazi fear the most? Airborne!” -Medal of Honor Airborne Edit: Fixed some grammar errors
You are mistaken the Germans were the ones using gliders (on rare occasions only) for stealth missions and these are clearly not gliders as they all have engined
Not really, my grandfather was stationed in the Normandy in west france just a few miles behind the beaches. He got captured by American Paratroopers who came in the middle of the night. After the war ended they just released him and he walked through whole France to get back to Germany.
Forget world at war, think back to Big Red One. The game has been going downhill cod CoD 2, with the exception of Cod 4 and 5 as far as campaigns go. But big red one was by far my favorite campaign.
@Some Damn OUTLAW I hope this is a joke. No one is even talking about which race the soldiers the computer generated characters are? The story and writing from those games are better. If you mind goes immediately to black vs white, you're the one with issues bud.
@@pitster1105 take your own advice. Cinematically this has no comparison to real life history and more resembles Micheal Bays work. Which isn’t a problem but our younger generation is going to portray this as accurate, so making a game based from WWII (aka real life history) and pushing today’s propaganda and making red dots common in gameplay (other historical misconceptions) isn’t right. Big COD money grab, disrespectful to those who served during this time and blatant disrespect to our American history.
All jokes aside this is for the new generation growing up. Please never forget what your great great grandfathers and grandmothers went through. Appreciate what you have and who you have. Most of these guys enlisted knowing there was a fat chance they'd never return.
Ah yes.... cutscenes that remove you from the action, invisible walls everywhere, basically corridor levels and scripted events everywhere, truly a wonder of gaming architecture right here
17:21 - Clear a minefield… by blowing up just two mines at the very edge of the field, and then running headlong through the section you didn’t even clear… very nice!
What I love about World War 2 games (or any game that take place in various moments in History) is because even if they are not exactly accurate, they bring the times into a new light and perspective - it is really cool.
From the accents this is a British ww2 paratrooper unit. And unlike the United States the British didn’t have a segregated army and they had colonies some which had African or people of African descent in them. Some of these colonist faught in the British military. I believe the black character in this game is based of Off Sergeant Sidney Cornell, from Portsmouth. He was a paratrooper in the 6th Airborne Division of the British Army during World War II and landed in occupied France on June 6 1944 as part of Operation Deadstick.
Agreed but not quite. The black guy you say it was part of a brithish parateooper unit and he was the only one. Plus they got us issued parateooper uniforms ao its mostly a us group. Americans didnt have a multiracial groups of paras like that maybe cause of racism between men. BUT they had a group i believe it was the 555tth para regiment which it was a black paratrooper group.
Usa and racism for every race a long love story. They forced the french to hide colonies soldier during the paris liberation, sope based french say no and was in the parade
@sniper monkey how? where’s the night vision and the lasers? .50cal? modern military technology? I’m confused how you think the setting of this game feels modern.
@@HardcorPardcor1 refer to the comment right above yours, tactical sprint, tactical reloads, etc. There are modern tactics that were not used in WWII. Now before you tell me that COD isn't supposed to be realistic, I know I get it. But I am just saying these were modern tactics. Other than that and numerous historical inaccurarcies, from a gameplay perspective the game honestly looks fun. I've always loved campaign better though haha.
While they were inside enemy territory Pierson and his squad were relaxing in their transport ships playing cards and betting their fingers for a religious collar
Inaccuracies I've seen: 0:19 - The British Paratroopers do not have kit bags (aka leg bags) when in fact, they were the most experienced in jumping with it. 0:23 - Henry Baker's uniform looks weird in that it resembles a jumpsuit rather than using the Denison Smock that British Paratroopers would normally use. 0:32 - That is a patch of the 1st Allied Airborne Army which was only formed by August 1944 prior to Operation Market Garden, not Overlord. 2:01 - In a few frames, you see an M1 Garand which is impossible considering that they never went into circulation within the British Army. A more plausible weapon would have been the Lee Enfield No. 4 Mk. 1. 2:32 - If Arthur did have a leg bag when he jumped, there is a guarantee that he wouldn't be unarmed upon landing. Plus, it would have been great to explore how the leg bag would have been properly utilized as it was practically notorious for coming off after US paratroopers hit the prop blast upon jumping. 3:29 - The Stahlhelm insignia should not illustrate the German national colors. German High Command mandated against this by March 21, 1940. 4:43 - Arthur does not empty the full clip into the Kar98K. 4:47 - Almost all enemies seem to rank as Unterfeldwehbels or Sergeants. 5:35 - MP40 never had drum mags, only dual mags. But then again this is just Activision porting multiplayer mechanics into the campaign. 5:47 - It's true that the Kar98K had experimental trench magazines but loading the ammunition still required use of stripper clips. 7:24 - Germans in this game, no matter the period, seem to wear greatcoats, which is ironic considering that June 1944 is hardly winter. 7:37 - Webley IV is named Top Break though I assume this is due to copyright claims. 11:28 - There were only 100 Becker Revolving shotguns made but seeing this shotgun in German use is hardly possible since there were no shotgun units in the Wehrmacht. 13:51 - it is much more likely to see a Fairbarn-Sykes knife than a brass-knuckles Trench knife since the former was widely issued to Commandos, Parachute Regiment, SBS, and SAS. 15:18 - the M1918 BAR was used by the British, specifically its Home Guard units. A more accurate LMG would be the Bren Light Machine Gun. 15:25 - The real Merville Battery wasn't situated off a cliff, rather it was surrounded by grasslands and would probably be already zeroed on the beach. Tactically speaking, it would be unwise to put artillery by the cliffside knowing that the gun emplacements would be exposed to offshore bombardment from battleships. 16:30 - The real life account of the assault on the Merville Battery said that the paratroopers had to make do with Gammon grenades and plastic explosives. No Thermite grenades were used. 19:01 - The Nydar Model 47 sight was introduced after 1945 so it's presence here is anachronistic 20:15 - STG 44 was real but it first saw action in the Eastern Front. 21:15 - apparently the Germans are doing a Banzai charge when they have perfect cover. 23:40 - The battery guns should have been Czechoslovakian World War I-era 100mm field howitzers (Skoda houfnice vz 14/19) 26:31 - There was no offshore artillery to bombard the casemates since it was only a contingency measure should the paratroopers fail to capture the battery by 0500. 28:00 - What actually happened was the paratroopers had to withdraw after trying to disable the guns with limited small arms. Shortly after the Germans retook the position, two of the artillery guns were still operational and the battery itself would remain in German control until 17 August when the Germans would have to withdraw.
@@cheezyballz yes, those guys who care about these insignificant details that don't change the gameplay are really annoying, they should just enjoy the game and complain about really relevant bugs and errors
The British however did use the Thompson SMG and M1 Carbine both in WW2 and Korea which we supplied them with as part of the lend lease program, They were also given the Sherman tank by us because the Brits lost their own after Dunkirk.
5:19 They really improved the deaths of enemy soldiers, this one is way more cinematic than just the soldier falling without interacting with the environment.
And yet us gamers keep bying them, not giving game creators the slightest idea into making better games. STOP PRE ORDERS, BUYING ON RELEASE. Get some dust on that games before buying.
wow.. spent over half hour retrying this in vanguard and kept trying to take down the ones with jeeps at the front and dying over and over again. Had no clue I was supposed to take a right into forest. thanks for this really helped me out..
The whole "flare doesn't work, they're going to bombard our location" thing has been done so many times now. I swear every CoD in the past few years has had something nearly identical to this. Everything in this series has become so predictable.
@@bertdutchie y got it wrong, the squad already taking over the heavy gun just before navy arrived, either way navy will get wreck before they reach ships fire range
I see Vanguard is doing what WWII did with the guns and is giving a giant middle finger to historical accuracy. Playing up the creative freedom, I understand. But a 20 round DETACHABLE magazine for the Kar98? A 64 round DRUM for the MP40? Come on, guys Edit: I'm aware of them being experimental hardware I'm aware this is 'jUsT a GaMe' I know my history for the most part I'm aware this game is some kind of alternate universe or reality or whatever
They were talking about historical accuracy at some point and clearly they just couldn’t care less or the people designing the weapons know little to nothing about the guns at the time

I don't know how to describe what this series has become as a old CoD player from the very first CoD1. There are just so many unnecessary holly-wood moments that ruins the authenticity, for example that German soldier flying backwards after taking a rifle round at 3:40 .
That's not even the worst of it. These non-existent variants of guns/accessories, the incessant need to make every scene over-the-top. There's just so much garbage.
I’ve played cod my whole life since the original, and tbh I love the campaigns more than multiplayer, This seems to me like it’s going back to its roots campaign wise, and I love it. Can’t wait to play it tomorrow now multiplayer eh.

If COD1's Sgt.Evans and old Cpt.Price is part of the current COD universe, the nostalga will greatly hit those fans who have been playing since the start.
I played cod 1, cod UO, cod 2 countless hours but this thing.. yes and no, feelings go up and down as much as I watch this, atmosphere with the C-47 drop even recalls brothers in arms episode yet ... the 88 rapid firing ... + the c-47 explosion when we are on ground is disappointing for 2021.. accuracy aberrations hit me hard (midway mission big oof), I will just watch a few let's play for the solo missions and nothing else, it's not at the level of Cod1/Cod UO, even the Cod2 - I won't even talk about the multiplayer lol - also need to stop all the attachments in ww2 series jesus keep it simple for god sake, drum mags, red dots everywhere (in multiplayers), what the hell Looking forward if there is any Cpt. Price back indeed, Cpt Foley and Sgt.Moody, Vassily rhhaaa let's see
Anyone else think the tone of the campaign was weird? They set up this backstory with Kingsley and Webb only for Webb to be killed in a 3-second, blink-and-you-miss-it cutscene.
15:13 the game devs clearly never did much research about the actual site of the Merville battery. Its further inland than that and there's no cliffs in the area along the coast, its all flat beach with small sand dunes behind them. The battery site layout is almost completely flat as well considering the fact that the British landed gliders on the site as well. They don't even get the time right, the battle for the battery happened at night.
although i admire cinematic cutscenes i prefer to be the cutscene itself with my character like in the good old days, i want to be there in the game myself like the early cod games
@@goosegangsta6508I really don't care about the crazy loadouts or historical inaccuracies in this game, I juut think that the drum mag m1 shouldn't exist.
I’m pretty sure there’s no lights in the passenger section of the plane other than the jump light at the front by the door and the jumpmaster who are usually COs are supposed to sit next to the door until red light comes on to signal ready while green is jump (they jumped at red). No equipment check when hooking their chutes and by the looks of it there were no seats by the door for the jumpmaster so he basically stood there the whole plane ride lol I love that the standard practice in modern ww2 tripple A fps is to spend all their budgets into anything but research. All they need was to just buy a few books like band of brothers or to just watch the series
The intro cutscene is directly from the movie Overlord where the plane containing the main character gets set on fire and the dramatic gunfire is shown while in the air with the main character landing in the water
It literally is! You play a black guy, fall while watching things burn and explode, pull your reserve chute (in the movie, it's the main one), land in some water, cut yourself free, and boom, Overlord
The jump out of the C-47, chute, and free fall again is the best part to me. The flaming, falling guy a vivid reminder of how ugly things get in war. He took a bit too long to pull that reserve 'chute though after he started falling again.
among all the things people mentioned, I have to admit, a burning mill thats lighting the whole place for miles to see is the perfect place to hold a nice little chat
I enjoyed this mission and the stalingrad mission. But when I got to the pacific mission. I literally had to pause the game cause one of the Japanese soldiers had a STG44. That's the kind of stuff you see in bfv multi-player. Makes me realize that they half assed the pacific campaign.

It's not that hard to program especially when the models exist in game and are used in the same level. So many good opportunities to use those smoke grenades that you picked up in the beginning... Rushing headlong into machine guns is why you have them lol
Am I the only one bothered that they skipped the equipment check before dropping? I mean, even watching the second episode of Band of Brothers would have sufficed to make it a more accurate historical reaserch. Ffs, MoHAA Spearhead and Brothers in Arms got it better than this, and it was almost 2 decades ago.
Even MoHAA Spearhead british Airborne equipments are more accurate Only thing they got correct was the Red Beret But to be fair even Medal of Honor Airborne skipped the equipment check
I don't know if the Mauser 98k can do that but it's power is no joke. I've owned several over the years and the round is a powerhouse. So much so that historically the Germans would complain about the crazy recoil and they aren't joking. If you fire the rifle normally standing, it doesn't seem too bad. But try it out from the bench and that shoulder feels every shot. It's the closest thing to a shotgun. The German used 200gr ish rounds while other rifles used 150-170gr. It's still fun to shoot em though. I'll always have a love for the Mauser.
The best and my fav mission in cod vanguard. This gives me vibes somewhat similar to brothers in arms and MOH airborne and if only they made this longer i would really have finished the campaign for 5x and play it all over again.
Im glad to see its more than US on the beach, some of these night ops really but a crack in Nazi defenses. If it wasn’t for those fearless paras, DDay would fail. Maybe this game is something of a positive!
