I got goosebumps just playing this, imagining what the soldiers actually went through

Can you imagine how terrifying D-day would be if someone did an accurate recreation in VR?

I was removing trees at an old cemetery when one of the veteran head stones caught my eye. His birthday was June 6th 1924 his day of death was June 6th 1944 man, had his 20th birthday storming the beaches on D-day when he was killed in action... took me 6 tries just to get off the beach head in a damn video game, so I can only image real life.

I find it strange they never used what is probably the most famous quote from D-Day especially as it comes from George A Taylor who was Col in the 1st Infantry Division at the time "There are two kinds of people who are staying on this beach, Those who are dead and those who are going to die. Now lets get the hell out of here."

enemies: *one shot kill* daniels: *full train barely misses him, bell tower collapses on him, hundreds of shots fired at him, hit and stabbed multiple times, doesn't die*

Remembering "Saving private Ryan" scenes

I feel nervous watching this video, I cant imagine what it actually feels like to be a soldier who stormed normandy

They had WW2 Veterans watch this gameplay and watch Saving Private Ryan and they asked them how real was the movie and game and they all said “pretty fucking close.” And one was absolutely shocked saying he recalled exact similar events when he was deployed in the 2nd wave. Great job Sledgehammer!!

Imagine training in the special forces for 2 years and your first mission d day and your in the front of the boat just dying without breathing the air of the wind rushing on you when the door opens just dying it’s horrible

My grandad still to this day visits a therapist twice a week due to what he witnessed storming Normandy beach at just 17 years old. The way he tells it is that, his vessel had 21 men in it (not including driver) and 13 were killed in the first 30 seconds. He barely survived by jumping off the side of the vessel, and almost drowning due to his equipment weighing almost his own body weight. He stormed Omaha beach, with the 4th infantry battalion. They went on to take out 2 bunkers, and then raided a nearby town which took them almost a month to take over. He got shot in his left leg twice by a German sniper, and miraculously was able to keep on fighting. The experience is horrifying since 4 out of his 5 brothers died, during d-day.

Probably one of the most underrated Cod games ever. My only problem with the game is the lack of automatic healing. It's not because AI suck at the game because it's because it can annoy me sometimes.

The Bangalore Torpedo that they used to destroy the sea wall takes its name from my city :). Also RIP to my grand uncle who lost his life in Monte Cassino. Not a day went by when my grandfather did not speak about how he had a sense of adventure and limitless energy about him. War is hell.

The one good thing about cod WW2 is that they brought back the health packs so you can replenish you’re health just like in the old call of duty games from the early 2000’s.

I can’t believe my great grandpa survived this day and the whole war. He died just year, about a month before his 100th birthday

You look at this and say “man this is quiet” and then you watch saving private Ryan and you realise, it’s kinda quiet too with the only noises being constant bullet fire and soldiers screaming

The men who sacrificed, put through, trained for this, be blessed in the heart of God. They have made through everything in their courses and deserve more than respect.

0:11 the gun wobble after firing, I have never seen a cinematic touch. Most games would just go back and forth, but that little detail. Well done sledgehammer.

My grandpa served as a medic aide, 2nd wave on Omaha beach. Dad said he never talked about the war, before d day he served in Sicily and later the battle of the bulge. Dad said he never talked about the war, says he just happened to be there at Omaha and once when my dad was a kid some guy come running up screaming and hugging my grandpa. Guy looks at my dad and says your dad here is a hero.....saved my life in Normandy. Truly the greatest generation....rest in peace pop

That moment at the end when he's holding his own hand, I felt that

I had the opportunity to go to that beach back in November 2021. It was a sombre experience walking down that beach without any obstacles and imaging all the valiant men that stormed it. It was additionally sombre to visit the American cemetery there. I am grateful for what they stood up to.

I’ve completed the game but you gotta be honest, the cutscenes, sound effects and the graphics are something that’s rare.

I loved this game campaign was absolutely fantastic, wish it was longer it may of been me I played it in two days! Insane graphics and fantastic storyline.

I don't think the writers really captured the fear, trauma, and intensity of this battle. Also I never knew that d day was 7 minutes long.

The German ideology was bad at that time but they were extremely good, disciplined fighters.

I like how the soldiers were all silent while sailing toward the beach side, scared, praying, etc. because they knew they will die. That's how it should be from a realistic standpoint, not those 'I can't wait to shoot Germans' one-liners after each second.

Apart from yet another complete copy of Saving Private Ryan in almost every movement and explosion and the cliche & corny dialogue to cater to a 16yr old or manchild, these graphics are insane.

This is similar to the game of medal of honor:allied assault

This game was so underrated, I wish cod games didn’t come out every year, they deserve longer lifespans

To all who dont know why germams have ppsh. The reason is. Omaha beach was defended only by 500 soldiers who were from caucaisan region. As they didnt had much trust from HQ. And all equipment es german soldier they were fighting mostly with russian trophy guns. So its pretty accurate to have a ppsh on D Day.

Saving Private Ryan was so realistic that actually WW2 Veteran Army Rangers were set up a help line because if hiw accurate the D-Day scene was. ☹❤

I am back, after battlefield 5, and I have to say that the main story and the gameplay of Cod WW2 is far better than BfV.

I feel like the issue with cod ww2, especially this mission ,is that it seems like your thrown into a cutscene every 10 seconds . It kind of takes you out of that immersion that the old cod 2 game had with the point du hoc mission . I dont mind some cutscene like when Turner tells Daniel to get the banger. But why not have it so we have some control in the lead up to the battle . The part of the speech on the ship could be in first person , really preparing you with this optimistic american urahh type shit only for it to be smashed as soon as you get off the landing carriers and see the carnage . Or have you in first person getting into the boat and having thus massive lead up to it ,getting you anxious but also excited to land on the beach . Just little things I feel like could have really been used to create a big effect . Like when daniels lights that guys cigarette. Why not make it a young soldier who's terrified and Daniel's offers him a cigarette only to then see the same soldier mangled and dead in that Turner cutscene .

My first playthrough of this game was on the hardest difficulty. Imagine how many times I died on the beach, which wasn't a surprise given how quickly men died at Omaha Beach.
