The final climactic scene from the 2006 movie 'Days of Glory' (original title 'Indigènes'), the story of Algerian soldiers fighting for the French in WW2.
Typical allied movie, the Germans would never walk down the Main Street to any town that was suspected of being held by enemy troops. That MG42 would have shredded that house btw.

Ah, those Germans. So easy to kill. No cover-and-advance tactics entering a build up area. This guy took down 4 with a pistol alone. I play more realistic paintball games with my friends!
No, not really. Star Wars is fantasy. Differnt topic. This is a historical film, based on a historical unit, in an existing location in France. Now if you don't see any difference between star wars and a historical WW II movie, well, that's up to you.
@@nickzick6163 if they did that it's called bad editing, and with how far the second german was from the first to get shot, it was too quick for him to even rechamber a round, the first guy is finishing his fall, your not going to rack a bolt back and forward chambering a round before the first kill finishes hitting the floor the floor. BAD editing, or the director had no care if he was shooting a bolt action, tell me where you see that in saving private ryan, or all quiet on the western front, or Band of brothers,
Jacob Morris You have got a good point But Some people are really quick at pulling back a bolt back on their rifle but I do agree with you that it was bad editing that they cut that out
This is absurd....A Thompson starts a shoot out with a MG 34, the bolt action sniper fires like a semi-automatic. WTF! The German has more than two squads (assume 9ppl per squard). I counted 16 ppl in the first group with one MG34 and the reinforcement at least 6-7 ppl with a Panzerschreck. The German infantry could use MG 34 to suppress the Thomson, and the Panzerschreck can take out the hideout one by one since the French only has 4 combatants, having one SMG, two bolt action rifles and a pistol...
My grandfather fought with France. He is still alive. He was hit in the leg by a bullet near the knee in order to avoid fighting and death. I am from Tunisia. At that time, France recruited fighters from its colonies such as Tunisia, Morocco, and Algeria. The traces of the bullet are still present on him.
Wtf, German soldiers are one of the best trained soldiers in World War 2 which, they also have a lot of experienced soldiers from the Spanish Civil War. Edit: Sorry, this is 1945, by this time the Germans have probably lost all their good soldiers that they have to send militiamen into battle, even old people and children, women.

You know Ii quite liked the movie. As a former WW2 veteran of 99 years and six days I can speak with a bit more authority than most. Okay I was with the 7th (Territorial) Battalion of the Royal Norfolk Regiment which was attached to the 51st Highland Division of the British Expeditionary Force and fought in France at the outbreak of war until evacuated out from Dunkirk. Actually while under heavy attack the Division withdrew to another beach, St Valery-en-Caux, where they were to be collected. But no boats came to meet us, nor was there food or ammunition. After two harrowing nights the Division was forced to surrender. Just 31 of us from the 7th Battalion of managed to get to England. We stole a drifting fishing boat, patched the leaks with used long handled mning shovels for oar to row ourselves home. The German party in the film advanced much the same way as the German forces did at first. Certainly during our retreat through Belgium. Sadly I tried to keep score of the number I killed. I am ashamed now but then I thought I was a hero. Such a tragic waste of life following nationalism.
I am honoured that you commented on the video sir and humbled at reading your story. You ARE a hero and in a time when so many people idolise the likes of pop stars and movie actors you are a reminder of who we really should be looking up to. Thank you for your service!

This film needs a serious military advisor! The way the first German Army patrol enters the village is a joke. If the Wehrmacht were really that bad, they’d a lost the war in 1941!
It could be conscripts since Germany deployed most of it's best troops in Eastern Front to hold the Soviets huge advance while, weaker troops were in France
SSJ and they were - right up until the Free French Infantry parades down the Champs Elysee, when all troopers with foreign names were withheld from appearing in public
These films, the enemies of the German National Socialists, show them as weak and yet they are the best and most powerful offensive army in history and they caused the collapse of Great Britain and killed many Americans. They were not afraid of the Soviets, which America is afraid of, and they were not afraid of anyone in the first place like the cowardly Americans. The Germans apply to them an example The hero, put down the false films. They show their men as strong heroes. It is funny to see an Algerian killing so many National Socialist Germans. After all, history is written by the victors.

I saw the complete "Indigenes" movie on TV years ago, this was one of the better scenes. The film reminds me of "Le Morfalous" (1984) With the late Jean.Paul.Belmondo.
I do not know why everyone believes that only Algeria participated in the war, but the truth is that they were mixed with Moroccans, Algerians, Tunisians, South Africans such as Mali, Senegal and others.
In this movie there are certainly Moroccan soldiers taking part. Mind you, so many commenting on here think they are American and British so it's not a shock they don't realise they are from North Africa!

What a fascinating story. You must write about this, produce a book, writing a book is not hard, it's the research that takes the time. Write about it, that is an unusual story which others want to hear about it.
Buenas tardes, las escenas de la 2GM, en esta trama, no ejemplifican con exactitud la realidad del evento tan cuestionado. El problema radica en que los ganadores de la misma, son los únicos que declaran en las películas sus versiones.
So many dislikes... Hmmm. It's a very well-filmed scene.. OK, some bits are bit "Hollywood" yes...but I wonder just how many of those "Dislikes" are simply because the subject matter is about the allies not normally portrayed by Hollywood? The war was NOT just fought by the USA, Great Britain and USSR.... it's why it's called "World War 2"... Troops of many, many nations participated on the "allied" side... just because they spoke Arabic, French, Polish. Czech or whatever, doesn't mean they sat idly by... their stories need to be told too. Lest we forget.
My Great Uncle was a captain in the war and was a beach master on Omaha. He went in before the first wave in the attack. He directed the landing on that beach and helped soldiers out of the boats. He was one of the first American soldiers to land in France that day. He also helped land General Patton in the invasion of Sicily and Salerno. He also served in North Africa. On Omaha, he was standing under heavy German fire. Somehow he made it out alive that day. He later served in the Korean War. He served in the Army in WW2, the Coast Guard in Korea, and then served in the Marine Corps, and Navy. He went to VMI and graduated at age 22 and was 35 in 44. After the war, he became a sheriff. Rest in Peace Captain F Perry Williams.
They're not American. They are Algerian and Moroccan soldiers who are fighting in the French colonial army. With France having been occupied they will have got their weapons and uniforms from various different sources.
So these are supposed to be the guys who conquered Europe? Who captured France in no time? Who built tanks that were feared by all over the world? Who had the first Jet-powered aircraft? Accurate movie
Balázs Fazakas As you said we Germans are "the bad guys" in every movie they don't want logical combat in these films they want death a lot of dramatic and action pact deathscenes and if possible of the "bad guys". I made my peace with that bullshit
+Zacharias W. Yeah you're right. I guess I shouldnt search for logic in these kinds of movies, but instead enjoy the "incredible pain and suffering" of the allies and watch how "heroically" they die.
+Balázs Fazakas lol also the drama from the "good" side loosing their friends where as Germans don't care and some even uses their friend dead corpse as cover as soon as he dies.
It's sad to see. I have no interest in this film, what so ever. The German soldiers where human too, just like the allied soldiers. And why where they wandering down the street, asking for an ambush in the first place? And how come 95% of all the hits instantly kills the victims? Humans are incredibly hard to kill.
Who would win? The Wehrmacht, or the Galactic Empire's stormtroopers? It would be a very long fight, since neither can shoot. I guess they would run out of bullets eventually, then it would be finished by a big fist fight (the germans had some melee weapons, while the stormtroopers have armor, but considering that even stone axes can penetrate it, I think that doesn't really matter). But the stormtroopers are still americans, and the germans suck in melee fights against americans (as everybody else does, at least in movies).
Yes, in this case, they are not americans, the protagonists can be switched to polish rebels, russian soldiers, communist partizans, or to anything you like. It just sucks how every movie portrays the german army as a group of very well equipped, very well dressed, but totally incompetent bunch of idiots. Not because I have any love for the Third Reich, just because it's so unrealistic. I can't imagine that any group of soldiers (or any group of humans if at least one has a brain) would march into an abandoned, destroyed town in the middle of a warzone without sending scouts, moving to cover, or at the very least not standing together for an even easier shot for snipers. They weren't even checking the buildings, the most obvious hiding place for the enemy. It's just make all these movies stupid. Movie makers really suck when they have to create minion-level enemies. In melee combat, they basically can't block, their swings open up almost everything on them, their armor is made from paper, and if they have a shield, they won't raise it up. In modern combat, they just run forward to be shot, when they shoot, they never hit anything, and they basically have less strategy than a group of kids with water guns. And if they are in melee combat, they die/faze from the first punch/kick. And if they want to paint a picture about a small group of heroes fending off an army, they shouldn't create an army as dangerous as a group of blind chickens.
If you want an entertaining WW2 movie and you don't cheer for the Axis, you do such things. God forbid you otherwise might get the impression that the enemy isn't evil incarnate. In reality, if four generic Algerian soldiers were about to stop 30+ Wehrmacht troopers, the movie would have been over in about 5 minutes with at least 3,5 minutes of hide and seek, one minute of leaded ballet and 30 seconds of dying and suffering. Doesn't make for a good movie, I guess.
I know i'm being a pathetic pedant but don't the German uniforms look incongruous for 1945? They look like early / mid war to me; for instance the preponderance of jackboots when the leather shortage had necessitated ankle boots? Having said that I had no idea the Algerians fought in Europe so at least it's educational.
what a big bullshit ! As everytime in such Heroe movies the Germans are not able to hit, while at every shot of the Algerians 5 Germans fallen down :) Not even with the MG42 the German Soldier is able to hit even only the window, funny ...
totas2000 well, it is supposed that algerian and senegalese were terrific shooters, specially in the mountains. Even though, germans were better than this
and trust me..that MG42 would kill the guy through the wall....that window would be ripped off..and the wall butchered...Ive seen Mg42 taking down trees....in this movie...it seems that the Mg shoots like an ordinary rifle...
One thing bugged me about this village defence- why put the sniper hiding in a flimsy shack right in the path of the German recon elements to be killed almost immediately when he could be picking them off at a distance? And why have the Tommy gunner way in the back? They could've made this scene way better with more creativity and awareness.

Wehrmacht units, unlike the Red Army, were built around machine guns. German MP 40 submachine guns, which Soviet soldiers nicknamed “Schmeiser", were available prefer to non-commissioned officers. Until the very end of the war. And the Soviet troops, having quickly experienced the advantages of submachine guns, began to arm entire units with them. Companies of submachine gunners were created, which performed the functions of assault units. But even at the end of the war, on the second "western" front, German troops quite successfully resisted the British, Americans and French. For Its was not the hell of the eastern "Russian" front, where the Russians fought to the death for the fourth year and were hard, experienced fighters who by that time had already ground the best Wehrmacht units. It was a soo light version of the war for the Germans with actions against the untrained infantry of the Allies. An analogue of the "light mode" in games, after the "nightmare". For the Allies, it was blood training. In reality, it would be like this. When approaching a populated area, points for two German machine guns are selected. With the overlap of the fire sectors. The head patrol (reconnaissance group) move at the settlement in the number of four people, two pairs each. The most experienced. They scan the future path of the group for the presence of mines, traps, ambushes. They are covered by the heavy weapons of the detachment (machine guns, mortars, snipers) and small arms of the rest of the squad. Commander, grenade launcher, signalman, medics in the main group. They never come forward. No one moves in a crowd in an open space (as shown in 1:36). When an enemy is detected or during fire contact, it is suppressed by machine guns, mortars, snipers. The reconnaissance group is on the defensive or withdrawing. When the enemy's location is localized, assault groups armed with MP40 and bags of grenades are moving out under the cover of machine guns. Buildings are cleaned one by one by assault groups using grenades in all rooms at least minimum two grenades at room (that's why the stormtroopers carried grenades in sacks) At 5:29, a fantastic moment is shown when the machine gun cannot penetrate the wall. However, the MG-42 confidently punched through brick walls. German infantry, American infantry, Russian infantry never acted independently. Always only in cooperation with mortars, artillery, tanks, ingineers/sappers. Combined arms combat is not "peww-peww" a 10-on-10 or 100-on-100, it is a whole range of events. Aerial reconnaissance, terrain reconnaissance, artillery work, mine clearance, assault and mopping up of the territory In general, this video is a beautiful fairy tale about winning Europeans for losing Germans, showing "how I wanted it to happen", and not "how it would actually happen".

for those who are asking why the guy with the p38 has suddenly super aiming capacity it's just beacause the actor who's plaing him (he's call Jamel Debouze btw) has a train accident during his childhood and lost one of his arms so during all this movie they managed to not make him not do anything that need both arms exept for this part where a p38 thet we never saw before seems to have teleported hitself on his belt for the final fight so he can shot it instead of the springfield 1903 that he was sling-carrying since the beggining of the movie. btw this movie show very well how poorly equiped the french army was at the time:none of them has a standard issue rifle: the corrporal has a MAS 36 the marksman has a scoped kar 98 and the guy with british helmet has a tommy gun.
He had not an accident. He tried to steal a bag from someone, Jamel debouze had his arm injured by the train who while he tried to rob him.the train hitted him.
