2007 was a lot worse in my opinion: Cena's year long title reign, The Great Khali as World Champion, Batista in Every Single World Title PPV Main Event, Top Name Stars Injured, no importance on any of the belts, Vince as ECW Champion, Bad PPV, just a terrible year with a flat product

I would say both were equally bad, 2006 came first though so it just feels worse. By the time 2007 came around, a lot of people just got used to how bad WWE was and didn't care anymore.

Hywel E 2008 made up for 2006-2007. Those years looking back were terrible except for MVP vs Matt hardy, (2007)Kurt Vs Taker, (2006)Cena Vs Edge, (2006)Batista vs Taker, (2007) Edge Vs Batista(2007 and the rise of CM Punk. (2006/2007) 1997-2008 was the best years of wwe. But 2006 and 2007 were the weakest years of the ruthless aggression era besides the fueds I mentioned.

Great video once again Sanders. I am really enjoying these rewinds and the countdowns. They have quickly become my favourite videos on the internet, and I always look forward to watching/listening to them when they show up. In regards to 2006, I think it was a very haphazard and experimental year, much like 2004/1993 in that I don't think the WWE really knew what to do, and it gradually devolved into just a illogically booked mess. It is almost like they threw anything at the ceiling and saw what would stick. From the return of SNME, to the Rey Mysterio push, to the Boogeyman, Kevin Thorn, and the infamous Punjabi Prison Match, it all felt as if they were thinking of the product as they went along, with no beginning, middle or end. The gimmicks were terrible for the most part, but I enjoyed the work of Mr. Kennedy, and MVP. Finlay was just the man though and his matches against Regal and Benoit, were such a breath of fresh air. Being from the UK, it was great to see the European style being presented in WWE. London and Kendrick's tag-team work was great and although their opponents left a lot to be desired, I always enjoyed watching them wrestle. Also, I enjoyed seeing Sabu come to the WWE and I think he had a few good matches, especially his one against Rey Mysterio at One Night Stand 2006. ECW was just a failure and I still do not know what Vince was thinking when he decided to create the "brand". The brightest spot was CM Punk's debut, but that soon got overshadowed by all the other rubbish they booked, which was a real shame as he could have been the face of the "brand". I hate Bobby Lashley, and him winning the title at the worst PPV in wrestling history, December to Dismember, just put a horrible taste in my mouth. I think Batista's injury really hurt Smackdown, but also opened the door for Kurt Angle and the other stars to shine. John Cena was not at his best in 2006, but I can excuse him as he soon made up for it in 2007, which I still think was his best run. The lead up and moment of the DX reunion was great, but the result was nothing more than a marketing gimmick. The comedy was terrible, the McMahon feud was unwatchable and the matches were all dire. Nothing positive came from it and it insulted and embarrassed me as a fan. So all in all, 2006 was a very unusual and un-patterned year in WWE history. The year had some good points, but for the most part, the bad outweighed the good, and it is just a shame after such a good step forward in 2005, 2006 would end up taking the WWE back to 2004.

Really good video enjoyed listening to it even if it wasn't a great year I may take it over the past few WWE years lol. You made me think that mania could have gone down as one of the greatest manias of all time so Ive come up with a new card: 10. John Cena vs Edge (c) WWE Title (20-25 Minutes) Winner: Edge (c) 9. Trish Stratus (c) vs Mickie James WWE Womens Title (8-10 Minutes) Winner: Mickie James (c) 8. Kurt Angle (c) vs Undertaker World Title (20-22 Minutes) Winner: Undertaker (c) 7. Shawn Michaels vs Vince McMahon Street Fight (15-18 Minutes) Winner: Shawn Michaels 6. Chris Benoit vs Randy Orton (12-15 Minutes) Winner: Chris Benoit 5. Mick Foley vs Ric Flair Hardcore Match (12-15 Minutes) Winner: Mick Foley 4. Triple H vs Rey Mysterio (12-15 Minutes) Winner: Triple H 3. Bobby Lashley vs Booker T (c) WWE US Title (10-12 Minutes) Winner: Bobby Lashley by DQ 2. Big Show & Kane (c) vs Lance Murdoch & Garrison Cade WWE Tag Titles (8-10 Minutes) Winner: Lance Murdoch & Garrison Cade (c) 1. MITB RVD vs Shelton Benjamin vs Johnny Nitro vs Joey Mercury vs Carlito vs Chris Masters (15-18 Minutes) Winner: RVD Could still chance a few things but am really happy with this card.

The return of DX was just awkward. Seeing HHH acting like he was in college and HBK trying not to cross the line of his Christian values made for cringeworthy TV. Seeing RVD win the title and the Cena/Edge feud were the only good parts of 2006.

I don't know man the jbl mysterio feud was pretty good the cena edge feud was ok but they tried to make it to epic I didn't like batistas return he lost alot of momentum and was sort of stale I found the mark henry feud kind of boring smackdown was pretty bad the last half of the year the rey chavo feud was boring especially with Vicki getting involved all the time I would say the best parts about 2006 where the jbl feud with rey kurt angle vs undertaker no way out. Wwe vs ecw battle royal and rvd's push.

22:50. Lashley wasn’t planned to be in the battle of the billionaires. The battle of the billionaires was supposed to be Shawn Michaels vs booker t. Things changed when triple h got injured and Cena needed and opponent to face so Shawn was taken out of the billionaires match and inserted into the main event. Lashley meanwhile was originally supposed to face khali at wrestlemania 23, but obviously that didn’t happen thank god it didn’t.

Great review, dude! I was wondering if you were gonna get 2006, just to hear how mediocre that year was, now looking back on it, back then I was still hyped about wrestling, and TNA and WWE are the only two that I can watch on TV, wasn't aware of ROH yet. I honestly liked Angle's 2006 run. He felt like an intense wrestling machine and it worked so well for me. I believe this was his best face run and I actually liked him more on Smackdown than he was Raw. I also agree that his MOTY match with Taker should have been at Mania, but I dunno where would that put Rey in the title run. A match that would've been an absolute masterpiece at Mania 22, was Eddie vs Shawn Michaels. Imagine how great of a match that would have been had Eddie lived, but I personally think after Eddie's death, WWE just started to decline in terms of quality. I just wasn't into Rey's world title, don't like the overused of WWE using Eddie (god rest his soul), and ECW's revival as a third brand wasn't necessary at all. smh Edge is absolutely the only guy I know that had a great year in a very mediocre 2006. His feud with Cena was definitely not one of his best feuds, but also made Cena a bit more interesting and I think that's one of Cena's best feuds. So yeah, man. Your reviews are spot on. I wonder how's your take on 2007's gonna be like, considering that I think that year, my interest for WWE died down.

I would have loved to see beniot win the royal rumble again and do it for eddie instead of forceing rey mysterio down our throats I like rey as a person but I was never fond of him as a wrestler also edge and cena at wrestlemania would have been great but I have to disagree with you I think edge vs cena was definitely edges best feud ever ecw worst decision makeing ever nobody wanted the big show or bobby lashley boring as hell rvd getting busted for weed hurt ecw it really did meanwhile wwe was getting even worse kurt left beniot took a summer sabbatical and was having more problems alot of stuff that would come back to bite him in 2007 crappy gimmicks the miz the spirit squad king booker boogieman the miz dx returning and being childish yeah this was a very bad year but i still think 2007 top's it as the worst year in wwe history when you look at the injuries murder suicide death great khali crap title reign cena being shoved down our throats until October 2007 yeah 2007 was much worse

2006 was the LAST GREAT Year in the WWE but it had some fair share of Injuries like Batista relinquished the World Title in January, Randy Orton was Injuried and SUSPENDED in April, and Rey Mysterio's Cinderella Story started at the Royal Rumble and carried all most of the Summer of that year. DX REUNITES.

On his merits, 06 might as well be better than every year since, but in context, it's by far the most frustrating, that was the year their creative juices ran out and they went back to lame shit, midget leprechauns, samoan savages, all that carny shit, it felt like a concrete effort to bring the early 90s back after the thrill ride that was 96-05.

This was the year i took my year-long hiatus from watching WWE. So much crap like the Spirit Squad, Vince vs God, Boogeyman, SuperCena, Eddie's exploitation, May 19th, King Booker, but them screwing up ECW on its debut did it for me. There were weeks I didn't even read the sheets for Raw results. Unforgiven and Armageddon are the only things I missed that were good. Still not as bad as 2007.

I honestly think 2006 is worse than 2011 till now. 2006 was a rough time for me as a fan. WWE just wasn't cutting it and I wasn't getting into TNA like everyone else was. TNA was good, but I wasn't so crazy about it like a lot of people were. The characters in TNA were just not that appealing to me. Great American Bash 2006 really let me down. All the injuries just killed that show. I was looking forward to it too and then the injuries made it just a bad to decent show.

Let's talk about Cena around this time. He feuds with Angle, Angle gets more respect, thus more fans, he evolves more, proves his point that Cena can't outwrestle anyone, and Cena goes over. MAYBE had he done something like an Iron Man Match with Angle and held up his end of the deal, then MAYBE he could go over and keep the push going. He ran into almost the exact same situation that could have been solved the exact same way leading to WM23 with HBK. And in between, he is going over people that he's actually playing second-fiddle to: Edge, of course, and even Foley given his decent wrestling and awesome promos. Also they had to kill him even more by putting him up against, at the time, a mediocre top heel in HHH in the main event of WM22, and STILL get booed because of the lesser of two evils. I am SHOCKED that he made it out of this time period alive, and while to this day he continues to nail down a great main event style when given a little help, and even sometimes no help. BUT, does that mean he was good enough to be the one and only God of WWE after about WM23? I'm starting to doubt that as of 2014.

Yeah, this was definitely the worst year in WWE history. I disagree with you about TNA being better though. I would say both were equally bad, just that TNA had the X division at the time making it more interesting, but overall both WWE and TNA were really garbage. This was the year I started to question why I was a wrestling fan. The only thing great about 2006 was ROH, which was better than everything from 2003-2009 in my opinion and some Japan stuff but even NOAH and NJPW were pretty stale then, besides the Jr division in NOAH.

You´re right, NJPW had some problems in 2006 with the Brock lesnar situation, but at least they gave the belt to Tanahashi, that started their comeback. NOAH was trying some stuff but it didn´t work and with kobashi out, misawa got the belt again. Its hard to say which one was worst, TNA seems to always have stupid stuff going on, but the WWE were a great competition to TNA as far as that goes in 2006.

16:36-16:43.; Was the picture of John Cena on both DVD covers the same?... I think it's the same picture of him with the belt, but, I can't really tell.
