I just wish someone would bring back the THQ Smackdown series. Those were the last best wrestling games imo. Fast paced action. WWE 2K still too slow even years later. How can this still be glitchy when they've had like 7 years now building on the same game??? I don't think 2K should be making the WWE games. They just can't get it right
Thank God they gotten better. Last few years sucked but sadly the universe is broken. One week someone asks you to attack this guy then next week he is mad cause you didn't attack a different guy? Third week he thanks you for attacking first guy? Haha
I still remember how excited I was for the release of svr 2009 that I could barely sleep but WWE13 has to be my favorite, I feel that game perfect everything apart from character creator which is the only thing that's been improving with every single iteration of the games.

A friend of mine said that's what he did. I think it all depends on what class you choose or how you do in the performance center. I'm a showboat and got Samoa Joe and PromoMania.
I enjoy the more realistic approach that 2k has taken the series. Honestly the old games were fun at the time and can be enjoyable today but the Arcady feeling of the older games was probably my least favorite aspect of those games. I’m a hardcore wrestling fan and I stay watching wrestling matches, so being to conduct these matches myself without it feeling stupid is probably the best aspect of these current games.

The technical aspects of the game actually makes the game even more fun while playing with friends, because in earlier iterations of WWE you could just cheese by spamming the same move and there was hardly any counterplay . Atleast now the gameplay is a little more skill based with aspects like Reversal timings , stamina management etc

But I'd argue against that. The newer games are better than ever. You have more options in one tag team match than most THQ matches combined. The simulation approach means actual tactics, stragedy and pacing need to be considered rather than constantly attacking. It means matches even against the AI have more to consider rather than just countering every hit back and forth. Abilities and OMG moments allow for specialization and more ways to fight and get an advantage.
I've played it and I really enjoy the game so far. The only bad thing about the game that I have noticed is the loading screens, they can be over a minute sometimes.
Johan Åberg I've liked it so far to and luckily my loading screen is pretty quick . there's a couple of little things but they'll get sorted . definitely sharper than 2k17
Terrance S it's there to show how "interesting" the match is. It's not punishing you, just making a rough outline of which direction the match should take place. It rewards you for not spamming the same move over and over (because that's not really wrestling now is it?).
Nah it's punishing the player, because realistically in order to get 5 stars you have to drag the match on and on. Sometimes of upwards of 4 finishers by the time you've built up 5 stars. Matches take way too long because of the star system. If you end it after the first finisher or so, you're usually only at about 3 stars, which gives you less SP (which I also hate), just let me play through career mode like a normal game. I don't need character stats and progression. It's fucking Wrestling Entertainment, not a real sport.

When I came back from GameStop to get the game I came home and went on RU-vid then this video pop up "Before you buy WWE 2K18" I was like aww shit here we go again. 😢
I love it so far, i don’t know there’s little things that bother me like the fact that when I make a advanced entrance I still can’t see the bray Wyatt intro video when he says “we’re here” then blows out the lamp. I would love to combine that with other superstars entrances, I also hate how we can’t add our own music into the games anymore for our entrance songs or at least be able to use the soundtrack of the game. The reversal limit for road to glory and online matches kills the fun for me I hate it with a passion. The commentary is improving but it needs to be more like NBA 2ks commentary where it feels real. They also should’ve took the route that NBA 2k took for putting your face in the game instead of the way they have it currently. Loot boxes in my player is kind of annoying too but other then that I dig it I love the game it’s just those things bother me
With the draft and all that, and the Smackdown and raw shows being back, it's making me want them to rename it 'Smackdown Vs Raw 2k19' for the next edition, and start bringing back the shit that made this game so fun in those days, all they literally need to do is bring in the fun from SvR 06 and 07, The weapon physics from 2011 and improve the graphics and lighting they already have along with bringing in a full and diverse roster we'd enjoy and stop taking out and plugging in legends all the time and this game would make a huge comeback, believe you me..
As a massive wrestling fan, this game is perfect. Even when I was younger and played wwe 13 I always wanted it to be more realistic. First deluxe edition iv ever bought. If you like wrestling, it’s amazing.
I have never really taken stock in whether or not a game is triple A or not, but the current trend in video gaming in general has been going to "profits over quality," which is frustrating. It seems, to me, that every time gamers complain about a new money making idea, the publisher of said game will come up with a scheme to try to "make gamers see the light," so we get things like no microtransaction loot boxes that are overpriced on in game currency. However, it will not stop until the market crashes again, like it did after ET.

The game allows you to make it as arcady as the svr games. It's all includeded in the settings, where you can turn off all of the shit that makes the game sim. but apparently its something that isn't very well known
M R in gameplay part of the setting. You can turn off stamina reversal limits and even adjust the games sliders to play like you want it. So if you want to make it so that wrestler's pop up faster after taking demgae you can do shit like.
No one knows about it because it wasn't advertised or stared at all ever so how would people esp people watching this aka people who probably don't have it
They gotta rebuild this game from the ground up. They working with a outdated engine. Like it's the same thing since here comes the pain but here comes the pain is better. They need to restart from scratch
Glitches I ran into 1.) Hot tag being told "he misses the tag" 2.) Somehow my skin glitch out of the pants I use for my character 3.) When the opponent is laying down sometimes I can't climb the turnbuckle 4.) After talking sometimes I can see the inside of their jaw 5.) CPU can still magicly reverse without using a bar 6.) Ref siding with the CPU 7.) Grappling the CPU but still makes a hot tag somehow. I'm sure there more but so far I haven't ran into any more.
More details than nba, but differeny engine. Nba gets flat skim and shine whereas wwe gets textured skin and individual sweat droplets. Theres further examples but thats probs the best. Honestly i just wish that theyd get the studio that writes nba mycareet to do wwe as well
I think you hit just about everything. I'm still disappointed that there's still no mixed tag matches anymore. They could get super creative with those matches. More stories, more dialogue and interactions, more entrances, tag moves, etc. Idk why they keep dodging that feature.
rafael bustos because you don't really notice graphics in games like FIFA and wwe so developers don't focus their budget on graphics but rather on licencing and marketing. Also bad graphics are easier to port on other consoles.
I'm having fun with it so far. I wish they would bring back the showcase and especially the create a story mode. I don't think it's a bad game and in general the WWE games tend to entertain me until the next new release. I think that the state of the current WWE product is arguably as bad as it has ever been, so it hurts the video game...and I've been a fan for more than thirty years.
Are you kidding? The lighting and colours are much better, also the fact you can get back to making your own rules is huge. Community creations works much better and faster.
2k18 is the best 2k wrestling game yet. The graphics and smoothness of the gameplay are fantastic upgrades. MyCareer is actually worth playing for once and they actually make you grind to earn things. The AI is smarter, matches are more realistically paced. They nailed what they were going for.
I'm really enjoying 2K18, I agree definitely the highpoint. As a hardcore wrestling fan this hits a bunch of spots I wanted. Although a few things should be changed or updated ( universe more ,caw slots, glitches) I'm pretty happy with it. I'd give it a solid 8.5
Why do all these newer 2k Wrestling games feel like they are from 10 years ago and the Smackdown series so much ahead of its time in every way? WWE 14 is still my favorite wrestling game..Also when it comes to story is it really that hard to copy the old No Mercy formula of selective branching storys with randomized and choice based superstars in the roles? Imagine a 2 player version of that kind of career mode!
What they are missing with wwe games is the impact , it looks like they are playing a sport that is simulation , not playing a aggressive game like HCTP , where a move shakes the whole screen and actually connected to the body , and they are missing the wwe lighting , candy lighting not needed , legendary lighting needed
I love the sim style, and this one definitely builds upon it in almost every way I've wanted, just 3 things, AI climbs ropes to do wakeups then climbs down, AI never pin combos, AI escape carries too fast, otherwise perfect game imo
I think 2k has vastly improved the game. No load screens between entrances and getting to see the wrestlers music stop have them walk around and then the others start and come in is just freakin awesome. Amazing graphics much smoother animations as well as an insane amount of features/game modes finally a real battle royal system as well as 8 wrestler matches now. Wrestlers also now roll on the mat much more realistically instead of always the same few animations while down.They even added in a promo system! 2K and Yukes have done an amazing job I’m not sure what else you could ask for!
One word: Pacing. This game captures proper pacing of WWE match if you play it that way. Wrestlers now stay down longer after big moves allowing you to taunt and prepare big moments. This also helps in triple threat type matches too, no longer just roll outs. If your end game is to just win the match and exploit running spam then yes not much has changed. But if you allow match to flow and slow your pace down you'll see a lot of improvements from 2k17.
Here's some things that will make 2k19 a must buy for me: GM Mode, Fixed commentary, Showcase or Season mode, Fixed Career Mode, Fun Gameplay, Voiceovers and More legends and classic arenas
I've purchased all the previous games in the series. I have to say, I think 18 cleans up a lot of what 15-17 missed out on, and yet, it's still the exact same game. I do appreciate that Universe mode doesn't just reset everything when I change a card around, but other than that, it's still a bit of a mess. I like it better than 17, but still I would rather play the SvR games or the early Smackdown games.
You really can’t complain about frame rates if you’re playing on console, knowing how weak the hardware on it is. If you play on PC, you get 60fps all around with the right hardware, except entrances because they’re locked at 30.
I used to like these games a lot, but I've cooled on them since then. I think I had two smackdown vs raw games a while back, and even then I never played them that much. Every time I see another installment of these games, nothing ever seems to change, it's always the same thing over and over again. But I won't lie and say these games aren't enjoyable, I haven't had much experience with the recent installments, but I have enjoyed them. The best thing about these games is the Create A Superstar mode, that's more fun than the matches a lot of times. The only 2K game that I have is 2K16, and that was on ps3, again it wasn't a game I played a whole hell of a lot, but I did enjoy it from time to time
I pre ordered but haven't opened the game yet. This is the first WWE game I bought since WWE 13. The last one I played since was WWE 2k17 and I kinda liked. Should I keep 2k18 or take it back?
I wish these games could still stay more with the realistic approach but have the same modes and have better interactions with the superstars maybe at least something like WWE13 or 14
the problem is the lack of competition. Remember when it was Day of Reckoning on gamecube, the Raw games on Xbox, and the Smackdown games on Playstation. None of the games played like the other
Bring out a here comes the pain remastered version next year with updated roster instead of wwe2k19 then come back with wwe2k20 the next year with modes like 2k showcase, road to wrestlemania and GM Mode!!! Not this bullshit universe mode crap!
my problem with the new 2k wrasslin games is the lack of characters and lack of cool alternate outfits. the arcade type wrasslin games THQ made were pretty fun and so are these new ones but nothing beats being hulk hogan and fighting up an oil rige for what ever reason
Universe Mode is completely broken (as of this post), some of the bugs that were fixed in 2k 16 & 17 are back (for whatever reason), it is ridiculously hard to reverse moves now, and the ref is definitely still in my way. I had an epic match between DDP and Kurt Angle yesterday, but the ref got knocked out like 6 times during the match.
So I’m about to get 2K18 tomorrow actually. I got a few questions. What characters do you get when you first get the game? I have had 2K17 and 2K16 and enjoyed both but like do I get to have characters? From what I saw it seemed like you needed coins or something to unlock characters which idk if it’s true but it sounds ridiculous
I havent watched wrestling in about 10 years, but playing these games for a few years with friends is just so much more enjoyable, its that couch coop gameplay is what makes the game fun
I know they said the free roam was not gonna be all that good this year. They said they were going to experiment with it, get some feedback and build from there. My only complaint really is the promo. They need to do better with that. I play on PS4 pro and looks great there so for me I feel the difference in the graphics. I really like this game. There’s things they can make better and based on history they might wait for next game to fix them. Like how much the crates cost vs how long it takes to get that much vc. The addition of 8 man matches is a big plus I’ve been waiting since the PS4 came out. Glad they added it and I feel like we will have more modes next year. Based on how I see their games every year, I feel like they get something fresh and build from that ! So although this ain’t the best wwe game it sure feels good bump to me.
Just recently I got 2k22 and I wasn't gonna get it at 1st but after playing I just went back to playing 2k18 and 19 the gameplay is not as smooth for me(my opinion) but not only that I like 2k18 and 19 for being able to use my moves without trying to do combos tbh Im just more attracted to 2k19 and 18s controls
I'm starting to feel like this will be the first WWE game since SmackDown vs Raw 2010 that I will not be getting. Pretty much the same issue I had back then, I haven't seen much improvement in a couple of years and still don't see enough in this years game either. When it comes down to choosing between games, the new South Park seems like a better use for the money.
Roman Reigns is the most technical wrestler there has ever been, the most talented on the mic, basically flawless, and just close on becoming the greatest wrestler of all time. I love you all... good night.
THERE'S A GAME BRAKING BUG , after you finish wrestlemania in my career Matt Bloom will give you a mission to coach one of the nxt talent guys, DO NOT ACCEPT, especially if you have entrances turned on, as it will not load past opponent entering, (sheamus in my case)
Here a few points I think will improve the next installment. 1. Updating the audio, everything from the sound of the canvas feels outdated and still sounds very different from the live action in terms of avalanche moves being weighter and more impactful than fireman's carry reversal for instance. Also the sound of strikes needs an update with NXT killing it with strong style kicks and forearms we need a variety of cracks when a superkicks connects out of nowhere. Aleister Black sounds like he decapitates them after the black mass and its mainly because of the connection sound. 2. The pinning system lacks momentum, I think a variety of pins can make the difference between a great finish and a lackluster one. A running pin awould be percect where you stride over and hook the legs without a second to loose as well as a arrogant pin where your superstar either lays down with time to spare so confident in there defiant or a heel putting there elbow across the jaw sending a message after there finisher destroyed there opponent. Just a few suggestions thanks for reading.

Yeah, I miss the arcade style days. It just bums me out when I pick up one of these newer games, spend hours of time making the perfect wrestler, and then not being able to actually enjoy them due to the boring plodding game play. Seriously, these games have the best creation suites in general but there's no real payoff for it.
