You are way more reasonable than a lot of WWE reviewers that I see. Most people are all about conclusions, not about the matches themselves. My opinion? Best three matches of the night were: 3. NXT Title Match, Enzo and Big Cass vs Dash and Dawson. 2. Natalia vs Charlotte 1. Dean vs Triple H Those three matches surpassed my expectations, and although I didn't like the results, I REALLY enjoyed the matches for what they were.
Marc Espinoza True! I see what you're saying there. And yeah, Natalia is like, my favorite Diva. She's so talented. I really like her character. Evil ChukNorris DUDE! That's a solid match! That's one to bring popcorn to. Asuka and Natalia are my favorite divas.
+Marc Espinoza bro I 😍😍😍😍 I can see it now And it's time for the Main Event of the evening and it is for the WWE Women's Championship. Introducing first the challenger from Osaka, Japan weighing in "that's disrespectful" Asuka Introducing next from Calgary, Alberta, Canada she is The WWE Women's Champion Natalya announcers Mauro Ronallo and either Lawler or Corey Graves
Lesnar being stiff could be something he just worked out with Harper. From what I've seen so far Harper is pretty comfortable with working pretty stiff. I agree with all your thoughts on this special. I liked it overall.
Enjoyable show....but they made Bray Wyatt look SO bad. Fair enough, he has an injury...just don't involve him in the match. Have him send down Harper to take his place, saying something about him having more important things to deal with, or whatever cryptic thing they need. Having him out there all that time, not get anywhere near being in a position to tag in, and then back away with fear in his eyes without hesitation, that made him look awfully weak. He's a guy who has had issues with losing the big matches that could have established him as a monster heel, and then they pile this on top. It's like they don't give a shit about protecting guys outside of Reigns and Cena....worse, they seek to actively damage them.
My thoughts: -The New Day are easy to explain. They are Bronies. They use unicorns instead of My Little Ponies due to trademarks, but that's basically what they are. They are adult men that are into nostalgic geek culture and things designed to appeal to young kids. -I like The Shatter Machine finish for The Revival. It works under pro wrestling physics. You do have to suspend your disbelieve to a certain extent in every match. What I'm not feeling The Revival name. I think that The Mechanics name fit their gimmick better. -I think that it's obvious that Dean Ambrose is the guy that WWE should get behind. He has a well defined character. He can cut a promo. He's a good worker. Fans want him. He belongs in the main event. Hopefully WWE pushes him as the top babyface after Wrestlemania.
gotta remember that the only matches Lesnar loses are the ones with special stipulations. I can see Ambrose going over with some trickery and a forklift lol great channel
You're spot on about how hard it is describing New Day. I have a friend who's kind of got into wrestling lately, watching it every so often, and I wanted to tell him about the New Day, so I literally just picked a clip of them on Raw and sent that to him. It was easier to show than tell lol.
I feel like the reason this show was a network exclusive and not on raw is because wwe wants to reward the subscribers of the wwe network for paying for it by allowing access to these house shows like this and the MSG event back in October. They aren't really meant to advance story, but to provide good quality wrestling that isn't seen on Raw because of promo time and segments and the commercials. So when you take all those put the equation, every match can put on good wrestling displays with a good amount of time.
I love the network specials. They remind me of what I loved about wrestling as a kid. The stage is smaller, it's less produced and polished. It feels more intimate, fewer pre taped packages. When I watch raw a lot of times now days I feel like I'm watching a TV show and when it feels like that I tend to pay half attention and do something else like web surf while it plays in the background. This felt more like a wrestling show, something that I had to and wanted to devote attention to and it felt easy to do so. Wish the regular tv could resemble this more. .
My problem with these network shows is that they create them ultimately to drive more subscriptions, but nothing ever changes. You need to make the people missing these shows think that they can't miss them. A shock, a return, a title change, anything! Without these, there is no point. If you didn't watch roadblock and just watched raw and smacks own, you'd think it never happened
There was an NXT title match on a main roster show at beast in the east back in July. Between Balor and Owens. I know it was a live event but so was Roadblock.
Hey Brian, great analysis on WWE Roadblock. I also agree this was not necessary to be a WWE Network special to promote Wrestlemania 32. This card could have easily been booked for Raw... especially since no titles changed hands and there were no significant surprises or storyline advancements.
Was there not an NXT match around the time of the first takeover on Raw? I seem to remember a tag match with Tyson Kidd, Breeze, Neville and I think Zayn.
I miss Spoony's Wrestle Wrestle reviews. I'm sad that he blocked comments and that all he's doing is Streaming video games. I'm sad because he's so much better than that. But I always watch his new videos, you know?
I think Dean beats Lesnar at Mania, Reigns beats HHH (clean), then afterwards he turns heel. His reason is that he's finally won the big one, and he's still not being cheered as he perceives Ambrose to be stealing his thunder. He's finally won the world title, but Dean beat Brock Lesnar.
Love the Bork Lazer reference. Still tickles me when I watch and old match and see it on a sign :). Keep up the good work buddy, one request. If I've missed it tell me, but being from the UK and of Attitude Era age, can we please have something on D'lo Brown? Like what's up with his neck, chest protector etc.
Hey Zane, i have something you could talk about. Winning Streaks in Wrestling. Especially in the last 5 Years that whole "winning streak" thing was given to every 5th wrestler, McIntyre, Kozlov, Rusev, Bo, Finn Balor, Adam Rose, the Ascension, EC3 and many more. Back in the day it was exciting with just Goldberg, Dr. Death and undertaker WM Streak. But right now, it's being VERY overused. Now it's even American Alpha.
I think they've been misusing Bray for some time now, to be honest. He started out as such a massive threat, with this supernatural element, but recently, he's been booked to look so weak and lose so much, that it's frankly hard to take him seriously anymore. That was never more evident during his recent feud with Undertaker and Kane, when he claimed to have absorbed all their powers, only for the BOD to come out and completely destroy the Family, without showing any ill effects whatsoever. I'm still a big Wyatt fan, so it's disappointing for me to see him being booked so badly.
+JHaden23 Bray is one of the best talkers in the company. They could book a great package with Bray and Paul Heyman cutting promos, Bray having the rest of the family fight Brock first. I think Bray with the Money In The Bank briefcase would make for an awesome arc. Stalk whoever the champion is for a while. Though it would have worked much better a year or two ago before they started burying the Wyatts.
Their Was A NXT Championship Match At Beast In The East Finn Balor Beat Kevin Owens For The NXT Championship Brian Zane 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂🤦🤦🤦🤦🤦🤦🤦🤦🤦😄😄😄😄😄😄😁😁😁😁🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣😀😀😀😀😃😃😃😃😃😃🤦🤦🤦🤦🤦🤦🤦🤦😄😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😀😀😀
I truly believe Ambrose is at a tipping point right now. If WWE puts him over Lesner the roof of the building will blow off. And really give them a huge Babyface they can use at the top until Super Skittles decides to come back and screw it all up. It almost seems that letting Reigns lose at WM would be better for him. Let him be destroyed by HHH and get "hurt" and out for a while so he can refine himself. In the mean time youve got Ambrose that can win the title and when Reigns returns have him cash in that chip on his shoulder on Ambrose.
I was really hoping they would go with having Dean win so the main event could be a triple threat or fatal four way with reigns, HHH, and/ or Brock Lesnar. Also, it could open the door to solidified heel/ face turns during the match. I think that there is only one match worth watching at Wrestlemania, and it doesn't even make sense (taker vs shane).
I saw Roadblock in person, and beyond the Lesnar/Wyatt last-minute change, and the fact that it should have been Jericho/Zayn, it was a really good event to just watch. The only title change that was up in the air was the NXT Tag Team match, so it really let me just sit back and enjoy the show itself. One thing that I don't think I've seen people talking about is that there was a strange segment in the dark match involving Goldust where R-Truth came out and saved him from a beatdown, and then they started dancing together as if they were a team. It looked like Goldust even appreciated a Golden Truth sign someone was holding at the edge of the ramp.
Man I enjoyed it more than I thought I would. Personally I think Natalya should have more main show matches. To me she's pretty legit...just have her prove her points in the ring and not acting... I expected Enzo and Big Cass to win but now I think they should come to the Post Wrestlemania Raw and eventually feud with the New Day. I agree that Roadblock could be Raw on its own bc this Monday's Raw wasn't nearly as good.. I don't have high hopes for the Ambrose/Lesnar thing at Mania and I'm sure his foot wasn't even under the rope... Also when you said people say PPVs are a glorified Raw, I agree...other than the cards, the Sets make it feel like a normal show! I always bitch about the PPV sets but damn they suck..they could at least change the ropes colours.. But great review!
This ain't about Roadblock. I grew up with the Rochester Roadblock, in fact he was my baby sitter back when I was preteen in the 80's. Roadblock is the man who turned me on to Puroresu because when he was babysitting me and my nephew's, other than beating us up, he was always studying VHS tapes of japanese wrestling. I saw joe's picture on the thumbnail for this video and was prepared to hear some stupid talk about someone I grew up with and instead all I got was some clickbait. I'm probably the only one in youtube land who even knows who Roadblock is anyway.
imo ambrose should lose by ring count out, it would work better as a storyline prespective, something like taunt triple h for the fact he (ambrose) could win by pinfall while triple h needed a disqualification win to keep champion
When I was watching Ambrose vs triple h I freaked out when I thought dean won and ended up missing the rest of the match because I was too busy celebrating
Great video, but I just hhow gut I'd let you know that an NXT title has been defended on a main roster show before, when Kevin Owens faced Finn Balor at Beast in the East, and the title actually changed hands.
Y2AJ did end too quickly, but with Jericho is most likely leaving again after 'mania, so this was the quickest way to set up a singles match for AJ. It will be a good final match between the two and will help be a sure thing for the 'mania card, which is in dire need of a few solid matches to fill up the freakin' four hour show.
What grinds my gears more is when a wrestler who isn't Lesnsr does multiple suplexes and everyone chants "Suplex City" as if the move is trademarked or something.
I agree that the match quality was good but nothing happened for build up wise. If I were Triple H I'd rather get rid of Kevin Dunn! He's like the real mastermind behind why things have been bland for the last 2 years on the main roster. NXT is doing a ok where it is, it doesn't need to be touched. Yes, the NXT tag team title match was MotN! What a fight and same goes for the Zayn-Stardust match. The Main Event, was predictable but the shock 3-count and the ref overturning the fall was unexpected. If they're trying to build Ambrose into the main event picture, I'd rather have that be the main event of Mania instead of Triple H and Reigns.
Brian, that wasn't the first time an NXT Title was defended on the main roster. The NXT Championship was defended at Beast in the East. The match was Finn Balor vs. Kevin Owens.
I feel like people's opinion of how good this show was 100 percent depends on what they expected from a "network special". If you expected a PPV standard show youre probably pretty disappointed but if you expected a house show you were probably very happy with the show
yup. pretty much have to agree. Most of the matches were good, but everything was predictable and nothing really changed. Although I did pass out during the HHH/Ambrose match up. ~_~
Hey Zane please answer this if you can. I just wanted to ask you something. I want to get into wrestling, in the area/city I live in there is one wrestling school but it is far away. It said on the website that the trainer has taught wrestlers like William Regal, British Bulldogs( I live in England). It is far away but at the same time it isn't but I won't be able go there and get trained as much. Do you it would be worth if I try my best to go there all the time? I really want to become a wrestler. Tell me what I should do please.
Zane they did the NXT title match between Finn Balor and Kevin Owens at the beast in the east event, which was the same type of thing as roadblock so I would say there has been a NXT title match at a main roster event
1. dash and dawsons move is called the shatter machine. 2. according to rumor roundup wwe is considering roadblock to be a thing every march. 3. i also was hoping to see if ambrose would win the title, change the card and wwe be unexpected for once but nope.
Well, Kevin Owens defended the NXT championship against Finn Balor (and lost) in Beast In The East. So yes, they had an NXT match in a main roster show before.
+JHaden23 I'd have to agree with you. There are so many ways they couldve booked Dean Ambrose's Wrestlemania match. Honestly, I wouldve gone with him going over Reigns and Lesnar in Fastlane with the Wyatts costing Lesnar the match and Reigns turning heel. The Wyatts would then go over in Mania, Dean goes over HHH, and Reigns faces the Undertaker.
Why would they put Lesnar over against Dean? Lesnar's leaving, Dean's over with the fans. Yeah, they could just be that stupid but there's no rational reason to do it.
Don't get me wrong, I like Brock and I get that the German Suplex is an easier bump to take but I really would like to see him "Tazz" up Suplex City with some variety. Although everybody knew that HHH would retain, I think they missed a huge boost for the Network here. From a marketing sense, had Ambrose won, I think all the people sitting on the fence would have said "that's it...I'm subscribing!"
Brian have you played wrestling revolution on mobile devices? its the game the got me into wrestling and it has this really cool fantasy vibe where dean ambrose can ddt hulk hogan through a flaming table in a cage match for the iwgp belt
Here's easy way to make this type of show work in future: 1)Dean Ambrose actually wins world title. What happens? Fans are happy to see him on top, people believe that on this shows something unexpected can happen. Triple H? I mean he is Triple H. I don't think one loss to Ambrose can hurt his Cerebral Assasing gimmick. He can sit in the wheel chair wiht his hands tied and still beat half of the current roster. And knowing him as big self-worshiper, this can still be win-win situation for him. Here's why: 2)Next Monday on RAW there is a rematch, where typical "Authority screwjob" happens, like taking out referee, then League of Nations beats the hell of Ambrose, next referee comes out, pedegree and we have 14-time World Heavyweight Champion Triple H. Wrestlemania mainevent hasn't changed. Triple H the happiest man on planet Earth. People hate authoriy even more, which gives huge push to Shane McMahon and his feud against Vince and Stephanie. And Ambrose now forever World champion. He can go to Wrestlemania and lose to Lesner and still go on chasing title in future. What do you think, guys?
Jericho prolly has a tour or some kind recording to do. Always seems to be the case with him.. I agree. Y2AJ would've been great to see more of! And it is a damn shame they don't...
I'm a big fan of Brock Lesnar, but the suplex city thing is getting really old. His selling is good, but he just keeps suplexing during all his matches. Some are impressive, but still its getting boring. We all know Brock is a much better wrestler, he's capable of much better than this. He needs to drop the obsession with the suplex thing, do it during matches but not just suplexes like it had been for a while now
I know this is old now. but im binge watching the channel. really enjoy it. heres how you explain The New Day. its kel mitchell x3. its pretty much 3 kels but instead of orange soda its booty-os
The matches were predictable but it was still a great and entertaining show. I'm a huge Dean Ambrose fan, he's my favorite wrestler but I didn't think he would win but it was still an awesome match. That's something that I always thinking about. Dean Ambrose has these moments where he's so close to winning the title but doesn't quite get the job done. They have to be building towards that big win. I think that they're waiting for that big moment where Ambrose finally gets the title and it will be very satisfying!
Honestly with how WM is booked currently I can only see one way this is gonna work: Dean wins vs Brock Shane wins control of WWE (possibly taker lets him win after seeing how much heart shane shows because hes fed up of vince and hes babyface taker) HHH wins because the authority will have one thing in their possession which is the title, all this builds up to summerslam where dean beats HHH and gets the title but mayyyyyyyyyyyyyybe reigns beats dean up during the celebration and we get that reigns heel turn finally. I really feel this is the best way for WM to turn out regarding storylines, and if wwe is serious about ushering a new era, this would be the way to do it.
wrestlemania booking: wyatts interfere ambrose and lesnar match. dean turns heel, joins wyatt family to beat lesnar. OR ambrose helps lesnar fight them off, end match with a handshake
I would love to see Bray lose his mind from all these losses and start beating guys up back stage. Like people keep finding wrestlers hurt back stage and it ends up being Bray doing it
