and Takeover was INCREDIBLE Revival vs Gargano and Ciampa was one of the best tag matches I've ever seen.

For me, Goldberg not showing up during the post-match beating was the biggest problem. Everything up to that point would have made that make perfect sense. The travelling Goldberg has been doing might as well have just been a promo for his rematch, on top of his 2k17 ad, on top of Lesnar directly challenging him through the game ad, on top of Goldberg telling people he was going to "be in New York and that's all he could say". Unless he shows up on RAW, that's a total wasted opportunity

Brian. Sometimes we agree. A lot of the times we don't. This is one of the times that we agree. 100%. I agree with everything you said. C grade show. I'm afraid it completely met my expectations however. (I expected nothing at all from this show)

For 2 years in a row, the NXT show was far better than Summerslam. Either that or WWE has really gone lazy with the writing on their big pay per views. Remember Wrestlemania this year?

AJ VS CENA was match of the night no question and that's because the crowd was still fresh, which is why I felt bad for Finn and Seth the crowd was so tired and that's why 6 hour event are impossible to pull off

I hate the fact that the moment Balor went to the main roster he got the main event slot. I mean, there were SO many other wrestlers right there that deserved it WAY more. Cesaro deserves it, he worked on the main roster more time than Balor. Zayn deserved it after that amazing match at Battleground and during all his hard work. Kevin Owens was on the main roster and has more charisma than Balor and can put a great show. Hell, I would of taken Curtis Axel instead to Finn ! People complained about how Roman got a "mega push" so sudden, but they think that Balor deserves it. Yes, he has done great things in other promotions, but here is the thing....THOSE WERE OTHER PROMOTIONS! Balor has yet to do anything to deserve that title, I hope Seth wins it and makes Balor start from the mid card to the main event with hard work.

i totally agree about charlotte not selling much. alot of superstars have been weak at selling in the wwe recently

The new Universal title's made me want to make a video about the ugliest belts. And Summerslam was alright. a bit too long in my opinion. Crews vs Miz should have been postponed to Backlash. Less video packages would have been nice too.

I would love for Brock F5-ing Shane to start a Raw Vs Smackdown war angle. Maybe bring back the Raw is War set for a night, maybe have a super show in a couple of months and culminate it all at Survivor series with a best of 3 thing. Have the IC and US champs fight each other in an iron man match, a SS Elimination tag match and Lesnar vs a smackdown star(maybe a Samoa Joe call-up? Joe V Brock in a Last Man Standing match would be insane) have the brand that wins 2, out of three poach a wrestler from the opposing show or something like that. If done right with very minimal invasions and clever promos it won't damage the brand split and could really generate some buzz for Smackdown especially if they went over

Speaking of different coloured straps, why was it that the intercontinental title & World heavyweight championship got different coloured straps in the early 90's?

Mostly its the run time. Takeover was shorter so the crowd can be invested in all the matches. But put a 5 hour show in a super snarky town and you get DELETE chants.

I live in NYC and the crowd chanting and booing about the meaningless belt during the Balor v Rollins match was very disrespectful to the in-ring performers. I was embarrassed for the crowd. way to keep it low-brow Brooklyn.

Also it was a great match but idk how I feel about Balor already winning the Strawberry Jampionship. I like the guy but I get the argument that this was very soon for a push and that his mic work as a face isn't the best. Time will tell

The women's title match was awful, I have no idea why the crowd was chanting "This is awesome".

The Lesnar v Orton match didn't really have a story to build on. I thought the match would be bad.

Take away the World part from WWE World Championship and bring back the big gold World Heavyweight Championship.

I can not agree that Orton Lesnar should be the main event. It feels like if the third and fourth placed NFL teams had a game right after the superbowl. Interesting to watch but nothing on the line, nothing won, nothing lost. It was just ehh.

NXT Takeover was better then any wwe ppv this year

The one thing that I liked about the lesnar match is that it actually made me think for a little bit the end was a shoot. I thought that lesnar got pissed at randy for spiking him on the ddt and just didn't care anymore, but once he f5ed Shane I knew that wasn't the case.

I think Fastlane is the worst PPV of the year by far, but SummerSlam is the most disappointing.

Brian they had sasha drop the title to charlotte just to have a potential triple threat with sasha charlotte and bayley or a one on one with charlotte and bayley. Why didn't they just have sasha keep the title, bayley gets a shot for the title at clash of the champions, they put on another great and hell of a match that they are capable and have been doing? What are your thoughts?

I enjoyed lesnar Orton a lot to be honest. The finish I didn't like but it might not have been the planned finish.

I have a feeling that wwe will do an nwo type angle I feel like Shane Mchmon will send Goldberg to raw just to take care of lesnar and the rest of the raw roster and I think steph will send lesnar to destroy all of smackdown

it seems to me that NXT is just much more well-received than the main roster stuff. i watched a few of the matches here on the youtube and the crowd was so much better. i'm not sure how it works, tho. is it the same crowd or what?

2nd time this year that NXT Takeover overshadows the big PPV.

The annoying fans always trying to get themselves over ruined the first 10 or so minutes of this match it was so annoying hearing them bitch & moan over a damn title when 2 of the best in the world were in the ring..

-The Botches in the Women Title Match confused and shocked me. The Finish was Confusing but alright - Maryse' Outfit! Good God! I Honestly wasn't paying attention to the Match itself... - AJ vs. Cena was fantastic (had some MitB '11 Flashbacks during the match) and the fact that Styles kicked out of a Super AA was such a great Moment considering Battleground last Month. - New Day vs. Club: I expected New Day to lose because Big E wasn't there - after Jon Steward Joined I was hoping for a Turn to the Club but afterall I was fine with Big E coming back - I wanted Ambrose Ziggler so Badly to be Good, but It was just average and didn't went how I was hoping it to turn out (expected a bit more of a fight from Ziggler) - 6-Women Tag match was pretty solid nothing to nag about. Naomis Entrance seems to be pretty Over, Eva Maries Gimmick is Awesome & Cool to See Nikki Back - Balor/Rollins - Belt Looks Stupid but there was no reason to chant over this stupid belt while there are Prince Devitt & Tyler Black fighting over a WWE World Title at a (Co-)Main Event of SummerSlam! Really good Match and I poped very hard for "Gods Last Gift" - Are We seriously supposed to cheer for a guy who Spears an Injured man who wanted to fight for the Woman he loves? I was always trying to see positivs in Reigns' Booking but this Really p*ssed me off. - Lesnar Murderes People... That's what he's here for and it was really, really nasty! What should I say? Overall Solid Show, questionable Booking with the US-Title(brawl) going after both World Titles and a Lackluster Main Event... Styles v. Cena is a Match of the Year Candidate for me and Rollins/Balor was as Awesome as expected, but that wasn't enough to make me think "Man, Spending 4 Hours for this show was totally Worth it" or in my Case "Man Staying up from 1AM to 5AM was totally worth it!" C+

6 hours.. REALLY?!?! No wonder the crowd was pissed, I mean come on after 6 hours of wrestling, they get 2 awesome matches which was Cena Vs. Styles and the womens championship match. Credit to them. But after that..........OHHHHH NOOO. Jon Stewart really? NOBODY CARES ABOUT STEWART. Big E was the only good thing about this match, the pop he got was good. Dolph Vs. Dean was a decent match but the crowd knew that Ambrose was gonna win so they were pretty much dead, And it really took away from the prestige of the WWE WHC. I mean this is the main title on Smackdown but it just felt like a mid card match, nothing remotely special about this match, when really it should feel like a huge deal and it should feel memorable but it just didn't. The 6 women tag match was decent, but it went on for wayyyyy to long, Nikki got a great pop, but was with the heels..... K. The faces needed the win more, Natalya beat Becky at Battleground and Bliss beat Becky on Smackdown. Decent match. The unveiling of the universal title was by far the worst moment of the night...... A new title for the flagship show..... Oh its a burt piece of bacon combined with Shinsuke Nakumara's jacket. This got the crowd so pissed off and it ruined the match for me, Seth did get annoyed by the crowd if you look at his last tweet. The match was good but the crowd does play a part and in my opinion they were so obsessed by how the belt looked,that it did make the match feel flat (IMO).... We had two of the best in the ring and the crowd just pooped all over it. In their defence the belt does look very lazy. Finn Balor won which was good In my opinion but he couldn't even lift the title up because the crowd would boo.Roman and Rusevs brawl was a dud. Randy Orton Vs. Brock Lesnar was fucking crap I mean it was 9 mins, those poor souls sitting there for 6 bloody hours for a 9 minute main event, it only takes 1 RKO lol no it didn't Randy you hit two and Brock kicked out, this match had all the build but it didn't deliver at all. SASHA Vs. Charlotte was a dangerous but great match with a surprising ending. AJ Vs Cena was beyond exceptional, cemented a top star in AJ Styles and the crowd were so involved. The last 30 minutes of Sumerslam were so bad. The pre show was one of the best bits of the PPV especially Cesaro Vs. Sheamus and i might get hated on this but i thought it was a good match, for two guys who have fought 2 times, this is their best match so far and it does have a purpose as we saw on RAW today whoever wins this gets a title shot. Jeri-KO Vs. Enzo Amore and Cass, this was a good opening match and the Jeri-KO finisher was awesome. The Miz Vs. Apollo Crews was a match which had no build up at all, i am happy that the miz won clean because IMO Apollo isn't ready for a title yet he needs to find a gimmick because right now i like him but he has a plain personality. Sami Zayn on the Pre-Show?!?!?!?!? REALLY WWE??!?!?!? This guy had so much momentum after beating Kevin Owens, but WWE couldn't capitalise on it and in my opinion they should have had Sami Zayn Vs. Agreed, Lesnar Orton was lame. I didn't see Orton juice though. I initially thought he didn't. Anyone actually see how he bladed? It seemed he was cut high up into the hairline rather than the forehead. Too bad Goldberg didn't pop up and attack Lesnar like we all expected.

Best Summer Slam since 2002. BUT 1. The Heels win at Summerslam made it a bit too predictable. 2. What was the point of having Sasha win the Woman's title if Charlotte was just going to win it back at Summerslam anyway? 3. Miz is over staying his welcome 4. AJ BEAT CENA CLEAN! What alternate universe is this? 5. New Day is going for Demolition's record. Better make those Smackdown tag titles. 6. I hate Eva Marie, but I hate Nikki Bella even more. 7. So are all the new belts moving forward going to be Mortal Kombat Ninjas and just be palatte swaps of each other? 8. Finn Balor... I'm happy but That belt needs a more original design. 9. SO THAT's Why we got Rusev VS Reigns Monday.. 10. Brock/Orton.... It was the WWE equivalent of that shower scene in American History X.

Everyone should look at the title designs the same way you would look at ufc. All the designs including the interim belts are the same. I'm not mad at it.

I also was surprised and happy that AJ was put over Cena for the second time. He is being booked excellently in this feud, as a veteran who can anticipate and have an answer for every move his opponent makes.

Belt looks like a freaking fruit roll up version of the Women and WWE title. Ugly as hell. But the match was good even with all 'belt sucks' chants

Orton vs lesnar didn't devalue the belts. Putting a midcard 6 women tag match after the WWE title match, and a no contest US title match after the introduction of a new main title match devalued the titles.

I really didn't like the universal championship match. I haven't seen much from Balor but I had quite high expectations due to the amount of hype WWE and the fans gave him, and it was extremely underwhelming, Balor pretty much did that dropkick thing for the entire match. Also it is BS how he received a title so fast.

thoughts that the Lesnar beat down on Orton was a shoot because Orton sandbagged or potatoed him, so Lesnar give him a couple of proper elbows as a square up?

Five and a half hours? It's like a Bruce Springsteen concert.

The parts that were good were great, but in all fairness, there were plenty of slow parts. My son's favorite two wrestlers are AJ and Cena w AJ getting the edge (he's 5), so my house was going crazy for that match. However, by the end of the whole thing, we were both more than ready for it to be over. I think WWE has it in their heads that the longer the show is, the better it is, but I think if you shave off at least an hour, maybe two, this couldn't been a great PPV. I still give it a 7 w the AJ/Cena and Bálor/Rollins matches carrying the show on their shoulders.

Dean Ambrose and Dolph Ziggler were and are god awful, easily the worst match of the night a forced rivalry imo, Cena vs AJ was great Cena getting respect at the end was really nice too, anybody know what some of the crowd chants were? I think I heard a CM Punk chant at one stage which is getting old now but I couldn't make out some of the others especially from the Rusev vs Roman match.

The worst part of this PPV was the crowd. For the 90% of the show it was dead silent, they only reacted on the AJ vs Cena match and the presentation of the WWE Universal Title belt.

The whole card was scheduled terribly the flow of everything was off, matches were boring(besides Cena vs Styles), and nothing the fans wanted to see happen, happened.

Randy's offense are just a few RKOs??? That's lame. :( Wasn't Cena's offense a few moves too when he faced Lesnar at Summerslam?

Apart from the Main Event and the US Title match, it was a phenomenal PPV.

I felt pacing made this event suffer (especially at 4 hours). Things kept peaking - the women's title match, AJ vs Cena, Balor vs Rollins - but then, you'd be hit by a down. Whether that's a weak match (Apollo vs Miz), a screwy finish or in the case of Lesnar vs Orton, a real downer ending. I wanted to like it for the good stuff, but it seems like WWE is still being submerged by booking issues. I was in particular disappointed by Ziggler vs Ambrose, the pre-match promo made it look like a major deal but the match almost had no heat. Maybe I misheard, but I swear some chants of boring even came through.

I am honestly shocked at the amount of negativity some people dump on this event. Now I want to first say, that I did not watch the Pre-Show and only watched the Main Show, so the entire 6 hours thing did not really apply to me. Still, AJ Styles VS John Cena is a match of the year together with Nakamura vs Zayn, Balor VS Rollins was fantastic, Sasha Banks vs Charlotte was great, Jeri-KO vs Amore and Cass was fun, Ambrose VS ZIggler was good and none of the matches on the card were bad. It was an incredibly fun show with buncha awesome matches and moments.

I've grown tired of brock lesner. I get it. he's a beast. they have been milking that "he's unstoppable" forever. I've been hear the whole " he hates wrestling just does it for the check" shit. there has to be someone out there that can give us a great match with lesner besides Goldberg... I got my eye on Apollo crews though as hopefully becoming top talent.

the ending would've been ok if they went just a little further....instead of lesnar leaving the ring have him pick up shane again, punch him down to the mat, go over to orton and punch him a few more times, walk back to shane and act like he was about to seriously beat the shit out of shane, then goldberg runs down to make the save. if they started fighting or just had a standoff, it wouldn't have really mattered. wwe could do anything at that point and it would've been fine. then just build lesnar/goldberg for later.

Totally forgot people whined about AJ getting buried back in 2016. He’s had a legendary run and they unquestionably used him well

I was against WWE color palate change of Women's Title. Love or Hate Diva's Title (it grew on me) but at least it was different. Stupid and ugly design on WWE Title and they keep using it. Epic Fail. Its was great show. Problem is stupid booking and then brock/orton went on last as squash pretty much. That was worst summerslam finish since triple h/brock.
