It's a common belief that approaching a weight with intensity amplifies your performance. That mindset can go a long way into boosting your output. Rock Boogs is a master of MINDSET, of intensity. To a level that his energy and enthusiasm are infectious. I believe having Rick Boogs as your spotter/hype-guy in the gym would boost your PR 10lbs minimum, maybe 20.

Thank you Gregory for leading me to this video.. i found the progression of the OH squat to squat Getup is fascinating.. i am new using kettlebell, but i love this type of training..it is fun. I'm doing the TGU with my 5 years old daughter as the "bells"

Lebe I'm curious you critiqued the tension in his snatch. Would you say there shouldn't be that same tension in hard style as well as sport style? He seems to be taking more of a hard style approach though his technique is a bit rough around the edges. The biggest reason I'm asking is because I have been going back and forth for some time on whether or not to switch to sport style. I am very intrigued by it and I like the idea of getting more cardio. I just don't want to compromise the strength, though I am not convinced that hard style necessarily offers more strength. I have been questioning this for some time. If you are lifting the same weight you are using the same strength. The difference I see is in sport style you are doing so with maximum efficiency. Well isn't that how we should be doing it in real life? Shouldn't we move as efficiently as possible? Also if you're moving up in weight in KB sport, once you get up into the top class of KB sport, and doing doubles, I don't see how anyone could classify such athletes as "weak". Even though the focus is efficiency of movement and conditioning as a loose to strength they are swinging a lot of weight and doing so for an extended time period. I know that's a mouthful but the more I consider the differences the more I lean towards KB sport. I just can't get over the hump in my mind of giving up the "strength" benefits of hard style.

Forget Eric.....STEVE COTTER IS THE MAN for me although I know that the humble dude of kettlebells would not like to be placed on a pedestal. Its worth noting too that Eric didn't do a full Squat TGU. He lunged to get back up. He is mostly using brute force to achieve the exercise. You never see Steve using brute force. His force comes mostly from his excellent technique. I've seen Steve Cotter do a tutorial of a full up and down squat TGU. Because it was a tutorial, he only used a 20kg but you sensed he could have done it with a 48kg with minimum of fuss. The effortless control was something else to watch. I've seen him doing a TGU with a pair of 32s (see the link) with NO HANDS to help him up and down and its so effortless that you swear he was using a pair of 8kgs. Another great video... The Romans used to use a thing called a Halteres.. And use that as a weight. So basically your like a gladiator swinging your kettlebell... Lebe stark gladiators school I like it.. Keep up the good work.. Gregory interesting video.. I never even used to skateboard in the rain never mind use my kettlebell lol.

Hard lesson. personally learned; you recognize the mature kettelbeller on his/ her shoulder set during snatch / Press movements. The shoulder must be depressed, the scapula retracted, in order to receive the weight efficiently for endurance. With the shoulder towards the ear and the scapula winged, the load transfers from the skeleton/ midline musculature to the musculature of the cross-section, aka the "Seraph System". This may be attractive to beginners, because of the musculature feedback and correlated metabolic response, but it no way stands the the test of endurance. Exercise induced injury is pre programmed and will show its ugly head too soon for comfort!

@@lebe-stark Hi, I'm probably using out of date terminology again.. Its the muscle chain that crosses sides of the body, going from the adductor group in the leg to the M. abdomens obliques interna on the opposite side. It crosses again via the pars acendens of the Trapezius muscle two the Rhomboid muscle on the other side. Some models show another connection with the M. elevator scapi to the cervical spine, some don't. Its basically the explanation for the "chirality" of the muscle-skeletal System when it is in motion. "The Ready State", a really good Crossfit oriented UTube page coming from a physiotherapist talks about the concept a lot.

Good day. It's a nice analysis of the wrestler's strength. It made me wonder about: how many Turkish Get Up varitions are out there? Based upon what you explain the changes are done in the stage transitioning from the floor to the intermediate position until a fully stand up position is achieved. Does that mean we can start from the floor (using the power of imagination) to a bent press or windmill position to a fully stand position? I hope I am expressing my self correctly. Thanks again for the videos like this, they are very helpful.

The two most popular versions (I know) are the Normal Get Up and the Squat Up. You can start either from the floor or overhead. - Gregory
